hi my name is Dan Ritter and I'm with the sazar company here at the Carousel Bar Hotel Mont Leon with Marvin talking BS today how you doing Jen I'm great how are you good BS is not a state of mind okay bers BS is a great flavoring agent yeah and way back when Antoine AMD peshaw came up with his bitters it was actually a digestive used for medicinal purposes few drops of that cure all and then he did a few other things with it and then we got involved with it in with cocktails all right so tell me for those who aren't sure what do bitters do for a cocktail it it's the best way I can describe it is if you're doing something sweet let's say a frosting or a cake you always put a little bit of salt and because it enhances the flavors and gives us other depth and other flavor layerings okay now tell me why a dash we always see that it's a dash in recipes why just a dash you don't want the flavor to overwhelm anything again going back to the Salt example in something sweet if you put too much salt in something sweet it taste really bad but just a little Dash just helps enhance these flavors and that's what we're doing great and as I don't know if you ever tasted bitters by itself but it is what it is bitter it's got other flavor profiles like the PES I like it's got a little bit of sweetness in there a little bit of cherry little anise in there but too much is going to be very bitter great sounds like bitters are a thing of everybody's home bar that they should have them should have them very nice now I know we have a cocktail coming up here so it's going to be the Antoine's cocktail in the Antoine's cocktail we do have some rye whiskey okay some herb saint of course PES Shaw's bitters little pineapple juice some simple syrup all right sounds great can't wait to try it where start off with about 2 oz of rye whiskey sazak rye and we're going to do about a/ o of herb sink we've got about 1/4 oz of simple syrup about a/ o of pineapple juice and pineapple works very well with that an flavoring coming out of the herb saite and three or four dashes of PW Bitters and you shake it real well get it nice and chill once it's nice and chilled your Martini cocktail glass drain it and just to make it look really pretty we're going to garnish it with a strawberry there we go looks great let's give it a try all right Cheers again a
