we have Laboratories that are using AI that typically would have taken 10 years to go from an idea to the generation of a small molecule for a therapy happening in 15 minutes my name is Peter mhler I'm uh the Executive Vice President for research Innovation and knowledge here at Ohio State University I oversee all of our research all of our Innovation and of all of our part parnerships I got interested in science um not to write grants or not to think about National reputations or rankings but to think about you know kids on a daily basis that are unfortunately passing from this disease called sudden cardiac death and trying to put those puzzle pieces together at a single laboratory level is difficult particularly when you're thinking about the complexities of big genomic data at Ohio State we see about 2. 5 million patients a year each one of those patients has an immense amount of data having the ability to work with AI allows us to make connections that we never would have made before it allows us to make those leaps much faster take data from a single individual put those together with hundreds of thousands of other genomes and come up with data quickly and not only understanding why someone might pass of sudden cardiac death but really very quickly identifying Solutions and Diagnostics so other kids don't unfortunately pass
