this program is important to us to open add to the field because diversity is core to ai having a positive effect on the world i think that it's necessary to ensure that the advanced ai systems in the future are built to benefit everyone and with the context and background of everyone's expertise scholars are all strong engineers but they come from a wide variety of fields software aerospace physics others and the scholars that are presented today are in the top two percent of applicants

this is something that we hope to do much more in the future and we hope that more of the field will do as well were the or short of great talent in the field in general and we have found continuously that by bringing in people who have a strong background engineering and interest in artificial intelligence we can create more talent in the field
