what's up guys welcome back to another episode of meta star oh one thing that I've noticed is that a lot of you are following me on Instagram and engaging with me on Instagram but you guys aren't subscribed to me on youtube what are you guys waiting for is it Christmas now let's get back to the episode in this episode I'm going to

### Why do you need to follow up [0:20]

teach you the top three follow up lines that we use now why do you need to follow up right when you sell or when you're selling something and you've had a first meeting whether you've sent the client a demo or a pitch deck it doesn't matter you need to follow up and the main reason you don't follow up is because clients or most people are busy right so you've had one conversation with them and then you're in their periphery but they've kind of forgotten about you so follow ups bring them back into the loop and one of the cool things about follow ups is that people might not need something right away right so if you are selling a vacuum-cleaner maybe the person who wants to buy the vacuum-cleaner might buy it say two weeks later or five weeks later whenever they really you know they come home and they see their house dirty and they're like it I'm gonna buy a vacuum cleaner today so you're looking for that

buying window or trigger so the way to do it is to follow up in a consistent schedule now I promised myself that I'm gonna keep this video super short so here are the top three ways that we follow the first wave you follow up is we trigger empathy now remember I told you there two kinds of people who follow up right you can be persistent in both kinds but they're the annoying kinds and there's the good guys the difference between the annoying kinds and the good kinds is empathy right you need to be able to trigger empathy in the end client so one of the cool things to say is look I'm really sorry about you know following up with you for the third time but I just want to quickly check in and see if we can have that next conversation that you promised me one other thing to say is you know sorry about following up for the fifth time just trying to put food on the table right so these kind of things trigger empathy because the person on the other end knows why you're following up they're like hey this guy really cares about what he's doing right and that's what he want to trigger in the client the second way I follow up is to just send a video so one things I do is I just take out my phone open the selfie camera click the video button and just record a 30-second video about why I think that they should take a second meeting with me all right so the selfie video technique works very well especially if you're following up on what or over text message but it can also be embedded in an email one cool thing especially if you're tracking this and an Avalon we track this we can actually see how many seconds of a video has been watched by a client if a client has not watched more than 10 percent of that video there's no point following up to that client again because that client is dead what if a client has watched more than 50% of the video then that means that you should be following up with a second selfie video some amount of time later a good spacing is about seven days between follow-ups because anything more than that you seem a little bit annoying and pushy now the third way I do follow-ups and this is a cool way especially if you're not working with the senior level executive but if you are working with somebody you know who's on the mid-level or junior level you should just put their first name with a question mark at the end of it so in one of the cases where I close the client you know a couple of years ago in this case the clients name was Helene so you know after following up one or two times I was just like Helene question mark right on the email right and I work very well because you know when they called out with a first name people usually do reply right and it's more like a personal thing where like hey you know can you please reply to this right without trying to be annoying or trying to use too many words now this technique works really well with mid and junior level executives because the senior guys really don't like being addressed like that but the junior and mid-level guys respond very well to just that first name with a question mark at the end of it alright guys that's it for this video make sure you subscribe make sure you follow me on Instagram and one cool thing is that on Instagram I'm putting out a lot of stories which talk about my day to day activities especially on the product and there's one investment of ours that I'm gonna be spending some product time with so I'm gonna just kind of showing you how a day to day in that company works I don't have the time to make a full video about it but make sure you follow me on Instagram because you'll be able to see how it works on a day to day basis I don't have to spend on high production stuff alright guys that's it for me thanks for taking the time bye
