Simply create projects, assign tasks or to-do lists in those projects, and use labels and filters to keep things organized.

You can share any task with anyone within the app and you can set due dates and times and reminders for each task.

There are also Todoist templates you can use to help you get started.

### <Untitled Chapter 1> []

hey everyone in today's app of the day video i want to show you an app called todoist which is a to-do and task list app so if you make checklists or if you're getting into making checklists for the first time this is a really good app it's been around for some time and it's one of the best reviewed apps as far as making to-do list apps go so i want to show you all the features the apps have it has a free option and it also has a paid option i'm only going to show you the free option here i'll show you what the paid options are but i'm not going to upgrade to show you those i only have the free version of the app you can also use this on their website but again i'll focus on the mobile app that's what i focus on this channel now at the end of the video after i show you how to use the app i'll give it my rating from one to five and if you're new to making checklists i recommend you read this book called the checklist manifesto it basically gives you the benefits of making checklists to help you get things done again i'll put a link in the description to that as well let's jump in here look for todoist app here in the app store and let's go ahead and open it up and if you're on the inbox page when you first sign in you do have to sign in

### sign in with email or apple [1:10]

with email or apple or facebook once you get to this page just make sure you go and press the back arrow so you see the same page as i see this is basically the home page of your app let me show you the first structure of the app which is you could create projects and create your to-do lists inside of those projects so as you can see by default you should have a few projects here but let's go ahead and add a project on the bottom you see add project under the projects category i'll go ahead and add that and the first thing i want to do is i want to give my project a name so this is going to be for my app videos for example i could give it a color so it stands out from the other ones then i could make it a shared project so if i press share i could actually invite other people and then they could create tasks for that to-do list or i could assign tasks in this case let's go ahead and skip that let me go back you could add a parent project so this could be inside of my work project for example which by default was already created i could make it a favorite so it shows up on top i won't do that here then you have two different types of views you could look at it in a list format or a board format i usually stick with list format on any to-do list app i use so i'm going to stay with that and i'm going to press done so now that project has been created and it took me inside of that project anytime i could go back and see all my projects and click any of them to go inside of there now let's look at creating a task we'll create our first task in our checklist all you have to do is press the plus sign here i'll show you inside of this category and we'll name it a project make a video so that will be the name of what your to-do is then you could assign it a date so it

### assign it a date [2:57]

could be due today or you could use the calendar here and you could assign it a time here if you press add time so you could be very specific with this on when it's due i'll choose today and then you could go ahead and give it a priority here so i'm going to make this a important priority so i'll press priority one and then i'll press this up arrow to add it as you can see it's been added right there on top i could add more here to that category but i'll skip for now i'll click away now anytime i could click one of these and jump in and make any edits i want to by pressing these three dots edit the task duplicate the task and so on or delete it entirely now once i'm done all i have to do to check it off is just press right here and as you can see it moves away from my to-do list that simple to create a project and add a task inside of that project let's go back to the home page you could

### add a task to any categories from the home page [3:55]

always add a task to any categories from the home page too so you see i have the plus sign here and if i press plus here i could assign it a date but you could see right now it's going to go directly to my inbox which is just the first item on your to-do list if you're on the home page you could see it right on top but i could select that and choose any other category so that's why i recommend you start with a project or a category first so you could organize all your tasks so i'm gonna just go ahead and put this in personal and i'm going to go ahead and press the up arrow and it's going to add it right to my personal now i could go ahead and click away so you could create tasks from the home page and assign it to categories or projects or you could jump into the projects and assign tasks there too so two different ways to do that and watch this i want to show you with pressing the plus sign i'll show you a quick shortcut so i could make another personal to-do list here

### assign a category [4:52]

and to assign a category to it this time i'll just use hashtag and it shows me all my different categories so i could assign this way too and just type it in that way hashtag movies to watch and it will be added to that project so i'll press the up arrow and it's going to be added just like that now instead of this home page anytime you assign something to today or upcoming on your calendar that will show up on top if you assign

### assign it to your inbox [5:17]

it to your inbox it will show up as the first thing in the inbox now anytime if you're done with a project or if you didn't want some of these projects to show up here you could go ahead and slide left here and you could delete a project or archive a project or go ahead and edit the project and change the colors or some of the things we looked at when we created our project so if now you wanted to share with someone you could click share and invite people here and you could add

### add it from your contact [5:44]

it from your contact or just type in their email and it will send them an email to accept invite i'm not going to do that in this case but you get the idea of how that works as far as the view of the projects i'll show you here in my shopping list i'll go here

### press the three dots on top [5:58]

i'll press the three dots on top i'm gonna change the view to board view there's view as board and it just lays it out a little bit differently here than what you had before and if you scroll over you have add sections so you could add another board here so instead of looking at things in a checklist the boards let you have multiple different boards and a couple of different pages and look at them that way that's pretty useful but i'm used to the checklist format so i left that as this now a couple of the premium options that i'm not going to show you but i'll mention them here is adding labels to help you organize things a little bit better and find easier and you could add more filters i showed you the priority filters that are there by default but you could

### add a filter on the bottom [6:40]

always add a filter on the bottom and one of the premium options here and my favorite thing by far about the app is the search option let me show you that right on top there's a search icon press it and if you just search for example let me search training day so i had that as one of my movies to watch so if i search for that it searches the task itself it will search the projects itself anything that you have in the app it will search or if you have a lot going on in the app

### search based on tasks or projects or sections [7:12]

you could search based on tasks or projects or sections or even comments labels and filters so those are all the searchable options and one last thing i'll show you let me go inside of shopping any one of these you could click on the task itself and you could add subtask so maybe i'll put the store where i want to get the stake here any time you could jump in here and add a comment so this comment section again is one of the premium options but you could go ahead and add a comment

### add a reminder [7:41]

or you reminder so all these different things including adding labels adding a reminder and adding comments are part of the premium upgrades i'm going to give this app a solid 5 out of 5 in my review because it had everything i wanted in a to-do list app and it was very simple i usually don't like apps that make you have paid upgrades to really get the most out of the app but this really had the essentials built in the free version and yes the premium upgrades made it a lot better but i could basically use it every day without ever having to pay for it so for a to-do list app that's very critical since you have a lot of options out there but i think some of the paid upgrades are worth it

### creating labels or reminders [8:22]

like creating labels or reminders those are kind of essential if you use this every single day but i think it's worth a try if you're looking for a to-do list app or if you're not happy with the one that you're using let me know what you think in the comment section below about this app what would your rating be from one to five i hope you found this useful please give it a thumbs up and i hope to catch you next time
