so in a shocking turn of events this is some information that nobody could have expected according to recent sources Sam Alman could be coming back to open AI so let's get into all the recent developments and every relevant piece of information that you need to know to stay up to date with this rapidly

### [0:18](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5jv5K1yx_U&t=18s) New Article

unwinding situation so essentially the news broke yesterday when The Verge released this article now there has been a lot more information since then so we're going to also cover that too but it basically said that the opening ey board was in discussions with Sam Alman to return as the CEO now of course if you didn't know of course pretty much everyone knows at this point that samman was fried on Friday and essentially he was fired out of seemingly nowhere this was a snap decision so essentially the update that everyone wanted and was intrigued about was a source Clos to Sam Alman says that the board had agreed in principle to resign and allow Alman and Brockman to return but have since waffled missing a key deadline by which many open AI staffers were set to resign if Alman decides to leave and start a new company those staffers would assuredly go with him so essentially what happened here was Alman was going to return but there was some certain agreements that needed to be made and of course in addition with Sam Alman and Greg Brockman to return they actually set a deadline by which if those terms weren't met it's clear that many of the openi staffers was set to resign now later on in the video I'm going to go into some key points because I see a lot of people on Twitter and in a lot of discussions missing some key points that really change how you're going to view the situation so right now it's Sunday night but I can guarantee by Monday morning there's likely to be some kind of update this is because as you know we are currently on the weekend and in the tech World things don't move as quickly on the weekend so we should have that update by tomorrow and there are a few tweets and a few likes and a few

### [1:53](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5jv5K1yx_U&t=113s) Sam Altman's new comments

comments that you do need to see so Sam Alman tweeted this I love the open AI team so much now if you don't know what this tweet is referring to it's referring to the fact that essentially the entire team at openai or many of the most important members decided to leave in solidarity with Sam Alman or essentially basically said that when Sam Alman starts his new company or his new Venture we're going to go with him now what's also interesting was that we also saw a love heart posted by Mira morati which is the CTO of open Ai and was supposed to be the interim CEO the CEO that would be stepping in from Sam Altman this interaction between them both interestingly enough shows us that these two are likely on good terms now what's also interesting and of course this is additional speculation Greg

### [2:41](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5jv5K1yx_U&t=161s) Greg Brockmans statement

Brockman also posted a love heart to Sam Alman and he also did the same to Mira morati but what was also interestingly enough was that ilio satova didn't

### [2:52](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5jv5K1yx_U&t=172s) Ilya sutskever doesnt stand with open AI?

actually tweet anything in regards to Sam mman he hasn't liked anything there hasn't been any media posts he hasn't replied to anyone or made any statements which is far different from many of the other people at open AI which begs the question did Ilia sua fail in his coup attempt which it seems like he did and now of course this begs the question with Ilia sukova seemingly in a position where it's going to be pretty awkward for him to continue working at the company are they going to be able to resolve their differences and move forward together in open AI considering that it doesn't seem like Ilia satova wanted Sam ultman to remain at open aai can see here that the open AI board was

### [3:31](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5jv5K1yx_U&t=211s) Board Pressured

urged by Microsoft and investors to restore Altman and you can also see that it says that the board has considered resigning but they haven't made a final decision and that Altman has been weighing on a new Venture but open to returning now as you know Microsoft invested around $1 billion into open aai to help them train their models and to help them produce their large language models so it says that as a part of the

effort to reinstate the CEO invest are also pressing for the replacement of the current board the people said the directors have considered stepping down though they're currently bulking at such a move the people said the situation is fluid and the final plans have not been set if the board steps down investors are reviewing a list of possible new directors and one of the contenders is Brett Taylor the former co-ceo of Salesforce INC now you might be thinking why would Brett Taylor be qualified to be the new director of open AI if he was previously at Salesforce but Taylor actually left Salesforce as the CEO to launch a new AI startup in addition to him starting this AI startup what was also interesting about this possible new director's resume was that not only was he the co-ceo of Salesforce alongside Mark bof he also served as the board chairman of Twitter during one of the most high-profile corporate takeovers in Silicon Valley history so what's also interesting was that they said Thrive which is a us-based VC firm which was

### [4:56](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5jv5K1yx_U&t=296s) Investors Backing Out

expected to lead a tender offer for employ ye shares has not yet wired the money and made it clear to open AI that alman's departure will affect its actions so Thrive is the largest open AI investor aside from Microsoft and they are working to reinstate both Alman and Greg Brockman so it's clear that the outside capital and the outside investors are having a really large impact on how much is being done here it's really clear that Sam Alman is a major part of open ey and with all of these investment firms stating that look if Sam Alman leaves we know that the value of open AI is going to drop severely and this will change our actions it's quite like they're basically saying that look if Sam alman's out we might be out too now what is very interesting and a key part here is that Alman is open to returning to

### [5:45](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5jv5K1yx_U&t=345s) Altmans New Changes Upon Return

the company and some of the people said that this is of course good news but they also said that if he's going to return he's most likely going to ask for changes in the way that the company is governed now this does make 100% sense I don't think Sam Alman if he returns wants to be in a position where he could potentially get kicked out again or there could be another coup or hostile takeover that leaves him without the company because of course as you know this is pretty much his life's work According to some and this is something that they've worked on for the past 8 years together now I do also think that Sam Alman returning to the company and changing the way that the company is governed is likely the reason why we are waiting for an update even now this is because if there are going to be some changes likely what's going to happen is they're likely going to draw up some contracts and I'm pretty sure that they're going to have their lawyers look at these contracts and ensure that the way the company/ open ey is governed now that they're going to be going over that document with a fine comb and ensuring that there aren't any loopholes that can kick Sam Alman out and there aren't any other loopholes that gives him too much power what's also a piece of news that was relevant to this was that the CEO Sachin nadela has been in touch with

### [7:03](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5jv5K1yx_U&t=423s) Satya Nadellas Statement

outman and actually pledged to support him in whatever steps he takes next so that also introduces something interesting because it says that he's pledged to support him in whatever steps he takes next which does mean that could include the fact that if Sam Alman starts another company Sacha Adela could be backing him as well now these investment firms declined to comment on any statements but what is going to be interesting was the actual reason that Sam Alman did leave slash was kicked out so if you remember in the previous video we talked about how three highlevel open eye researchers have quit one thing that we did forget to mention was the Deep dive into the exact researchers that

### [7:46](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5jv5K1yx_U&t=466s) Who quit and why?

quit so if we take a look at the names of the three researchers we have Jacob Pachi which is the director of research at open Ai and has been there for 6 years which is definitely an integral part of the company then what is the most interesting thing was that we have Alexandra Mader now the reason this was very interesting is because Alexandre majer departing with Sam Altman leads us to a new conclusion and this is because of Alexandre madre's role so Alexandra

### [8:18](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5jv5K1yx_U&t=498s) AI Safety and Alexander Madry

madre's role is the head of preparedness at open aai and recently openai posted this blog post which was Frontier risk and preparedness to support the safety of Highly capable AI systems we're developing our approach to catastrophic risk preparedness including a preparedness team and launching a challenge now this is what I'm saying okay if it was that open AI decided to kick out Sam Alman because they thought

### [8:41](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5jv5K1yx_U&t=521s) AI safety

that he was moving too fast then why would the lead of the open AI preparedness team Alexandre Mader leave open AI if this was the case the preparedness team is the team that is focused on making sure that AGI is safe and they are going to track evaluate forecast and protect against catastrophic risks so why would the team led by Alexandra Madre the guy who's leading the safety team leave with Sam Alman if they felt that Sam Alman was pushing forward too fast that wouldn't be the case at all so it's clear that there was another reason for Sam Alman being ousted from the company and it's clear that safety was most likely not the top concern now here's the thing that many people are thinking and debating is that is Sam Alman going to return I do think like I said before that Sam Alman and GRE Brockman are likely to return to the company but I don't know how this is going to play out because right now it's clear from us that Sam Alman has all of the leverage with the fact that he basically has not only the backing of Microsoft but the backing of the key employees and key members that created open AI now we have this tweet which is actually quite interesting it said that if Sam returns

### [9:56](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5jv5K1yx_U&t=596s) Illya and Sam

and Ilia leaves it's still bad for open ey IIA is a genius researcher and it would be a huge loss but I don't think that they would be able to work together after what happened it's been a long time since my co-founder backstabbed me with a surprise board and I don't think I'll ever want to see him around that is a very true point if someone did backstab you and did try to Stage a coup in your company it's very unlikely that you're going to be able to foster a positive workplace environment I think the big question that we're now being asked is will Sam alour return I think it's safe to say that Sam will return but it's definitely going to be on his conditions because he has the backing of Microsoft the key employees in the company and we know that without Sam Alman and the key employees in the company it's only going to be a matter of time before brain drain starts to happen to the company and with key members leaving Key investment firms leaving it seems like a slow death for the once top company so it seems like within the next 24 hours maybe by Monday maybe by Tuesday when everything is drawn up maybe when contracts are signed when Sam Alman decides to return to the company we're going to see exactly where this story heads because what's clear is that the story isn't over by any means and as I was rendering this video we actually had a statement from Andre karpathy which is someone who is the

### [11:15](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5jv5K1yx_U&t=675s) Andrej Karpathy New statements

previous director of AI at Tesla and is building a kind of Javis AI at open AI someone tweeted silence is interesting Andre Kathy is one of my favorites out of everyone at open AI followed by Greg Brockman but I wonder why he still didn't comment on current events he says that I don't have anything too remarkable to add right now I like and respect Sam and I think so does the majority of open AI the board had a chance to explain their drastic actions and they didn't take it so there is nothing to go on except exactly what it looks like it's clear from that statement that they were blindsided by this decision and right now it's simply a waiting game so overall within the next 24 hours it's likely that we're going to have an update on Monday but I hope it's not another twist and turn because this is something that has been pretty shocking and I'm guessing that everyone was surprised by how strong Sam alman's pull is at open Ai and I'm going to leave you with a comment from Sam Alman that actually somewhat forecast the catastrophic things that can happen when you're in a company and it also does remind me of the movie The Social Network when Mark Zuckerberg took over the company the most underrated quality of all is being really determined

### [12:28](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5jv5K1yx_U&t=748s) Did sam see this coming?

um this is more important than being smart having a network this is more important than a great idea um the hardest thing about starting a company is the level and the frequency of bad stuff that happens to you and most people that are good in really other ways eventually just get killed the company gets killed by um stuff going wrong and you know so much about being a successful entrepreneur is just not giving up um when we have funded people who have a great idea perfect background on paper and um you know a great product and still failed uh it has usually been that they are insufficiently determined so I think this is the most important non obvious skill of a Founder um of course you need a good product and a good market and to be smart but that's really obvious um the degree to which being like a you know three or four standard deviation outlier on determination is a required skill of a CEO um is not something that was obvious to me when I started
