hey I'm Max the original flow gramar in this video I'm going to show you how to set up linked out it's a self- hostable AI powered LinkedIn inbox that I built with umya bhasu in a couple days using n vault. DIY pocket base and uni pile it can generate AI drafts on your behalf and also identifies if there's a decision to be made and gives you options for each reply variant and it also has a text Snippets feature so for your candly links and all those kinds of things you're writing often you can quick add those plus it's got decent mobile and desktop styling so you can use it on the go and on your computer the best part though is that the back end is built using NN a low code workflow automation tool with some pretty kickass AI functionality once you clone it you can truly make it yours even if you're not a developer you will need a little bit of text happiness but there's lots of videos on YouTube right now on how to use n it and all the different things that you need to know to set up this stuff and customize it so even if you're not a developer be confident that you can set this up and have your own LinkedIn inbox that you can evolve over time and truly make it yours and once you've got it set up I mean sky the limit you could add ranking for example analyzing those messages based on sentiment follow account that could look a bit different right if you're an influenc you might be checking for one thing if you're a product manager maybe you're checking for bugs for example coming from your user base so once you clone it you can really make it yours before we jump into the setup if you're curious how we made linked out om and I actually released a 59 minute documentary on it so follow the link and check that out and come back here if you're interested in it all right enough shilling let's set up linked out let's

### Stack Walkthrough [1:31]

take a quick look at the linked out stack so you know what you're setting up today and what you're going to need uh in order to set it up the backend runs on an n8n instance this could be a cloud instance or a self-hosted instance if you do want to use N8 's Cloud you can use my coupon code Max 50 that gets you 50% off up to 12 months so you do your free trial and then you can pop in that coupon code so that's Max 50 so if I don't mention it and my boss would do my head in and then you've got the pocket base instance so this is our d datase and it also handles the authentication for us and then we've got the front end which we built in bolt. DIY but again this is a static front end so you'll need to deploy that somewhere and we're also using uni pile for the LinkedIn API access because the official LinkedIn API is very difficult uh to get access to you basically have to be Bill Gates today I'm going to use an Neden Cloud instance so that's going to be hosted for me and I've already got that set up so that's out of scope but basically go to Ed nio click get started and sign up and then for the front end and pocket base we're actually going to use cloud station so this is a service founded by umia and it basically allows you to deploy open source software to different clouds so she's graciously created a template that allows you to stand up the front end and the pocket base sets up all the passwords and the links between them really simply so that's the route we're going to take but if you want to purely self-host this you can in the GitHub read me there's uh instructions on how to stand up these two parts using Docker all right without further Ado let's set up linked out starting from the GitHub

### Deploy CloudStation template [2:57]

page scroll down and then in the installation section you're going to want to click on the cloud station linked out template your flow might look a little bit different cuz I'm already signed in but basically create an account with Cloud station if you want to go this route and then go do this so let's click the deploy button here there's all these environment variables that need to be set here's the pocket based username and password you could set something here it's going to set an random alpha numeric and here for the user this is going to be whatever email you set for your Cloud station account but again you could change that if you want to here the one thing we do need to set is this one here so this is the URL of our NN instance itself so I'm going to go ahead over into NN and copy that over and paste that in the one thing you're going to want to make sure usually when you copy from a browser they copy this trailing slash remove that so once you've added that you're just going to want to click deploy and then pick the workspace where you want to deploy it so let's pick this workspace let's create a new project and let's call this linked out and we'll create that so it is going to take a couple minutes to deploy so I recommend that you go get an espresso or go read up on the latest new AI model that probably hit to today while that's happening all right great so linked out deployed that's our front end and pocket base also deployed fantastic click open

### LinkedOut Setup Flow [4:11]

app on linked out this is going to open our front end and we are going to want to sign in so click that now the username and password this is the super user username and password set for your pocket base we can click on the pocket base go over to variables here and we can copy this password Here and paste that in and then the email is going to be whatever email you set on your Cloud station account there so let's sign in so from here on out you could choose to manually set up the n and end workflows the credentials and uni pile stuff but we built a magic setup that does that automatically for you so let's do that and so if I click on that basically there is a few things that you got to capture in here but it's all laid out step by step so it should be pretty easy the first step is setting up uni pile so I assume that you already have a uni pile account if you don't you can get 50% off for 3 months I hit up the team they like what they're doing they gave me a Max from nadn coupon you do have to reach out to support but they have a little popup chat so it's pretty quick once you sign up to just click that and say hey Max from in give me my discount all right so first thing is we need to open the accounts page on uni pile and you're going to want to click connect an account and from there you're going to want to Pink Lickton go through that flow and you're going to get to this page and have your account ID so copy that and paste that in same thing for an API key you want to open this link and here we're going to generate a token let's call this link out I'll set this one to 30day but you probably want to change that and for now just add all Scopes generate that all right so you're going to want to copy this API key I am going to change this by the time feel free to try it so we'll paste that in and then we need the DSN from unile so you can click this link here and the DSN is this bad boy here so just click to copy that paste that in and then the last thing don't miss this step you need to set up the web hook so this will be the web hook URL once we set this up this is for the work for that's going to ingest new messages coming from unile so let's open that up let's call this linked out again we just need the messaging API on this one continue and we want on new message we don't have reactions and message reads yet but if that's something you want us to add drop a comment because we are going to be iterating on this app plus it's open source so you can make a contribution as well all right let's continue all accounts and now let's paste in that URL that we had there all right so that's created that's everything done in unile we don't really have to go back in there and now we can click continue so the next thing that we got to do is enter the details for n and for pocket base and then rest of the setup is going to do everything automatically now again for na you can use my coupon code Max 50 I have to say that otherwise my boss Luis gan's going to get a bit up yeah you can also self-host n in as well so whatever you like although on cloud if you are connecting at other services it is going to be a bit easier and there's 100 free open AI calls right now so if you don't want to pay for an AI service you could set that up today and get started for free all right so let me go over to my netn instance this is a brand new netn instance in here I'm going to want to go to settings in here and click on API key now if you do start a free trial on cloud you can't create API keys on a free trial there's just too many bad actors doing sort of abusive stuff if we allowed that so you will have to switch over to a pay plan but again you can self host as well so let's create that API key let's just call this key and save that let me copy that again I am going to reset this paste that in there and then the pocket base email and username this is the same one that you used to signed in so I'm just go back in here copy that password in there and we'll paste that in and now let's click continue now what's happening is it's automatically creating uh the credentials that we need and now the workflows that we need so just to show you on here if we go back into my NN we can see it's created three workflows and that credential so let's continue and now it's creating the tables in Pocket base it's creating a service account in Pocket base the NN workflow also needs an account to connect it's creating that and now it's created the workflow that needed this account in the workflow and it's added it to the instance and so if we go in here we can see we've got four workflows and that pile credential and this is now correctly embedded in these workflows as is other things like your pocket based URL and stuff quickly going over these workflows you've got the inbox back end this Powers the inbox view the thread back end that powers the individual message thread view there's the set setup back end which actually power this thing here so you could delete that if you like and then the new message Ingress this is what listens for new messages from un pile all right let's click continue there's a bunch of details you can skip cuz you just watched this video and I just told you that stuff and you can open your link

### Get First Message [8:27]

down now you're not going to have any messages here unless you're super popular and someone just sent you a message in the last couple seconds but this would be a great point to get a significant other partner or perhaps your mom to send you a message so just one sec hey babes can you send me a LinkedIn message just say hello test fantastic and once that gracious other person has sent you a message you can see it's all working nicely if I go into my workflow and see in the executions we can now see there's various executions that kicked off powering this so if I click into this we can you can see we've can open up their profile see the followers message with them we don't have rehydrating right now that means that it'll automatically pull in new messages so you will have to refresh the route but you can generate an AI draft now the

### Add AI Model for GenAI Features [9:11]

one thing that's not part of the setup right now is the populating the AI credentials in the nnn workflow so if you do want the AI capabilities which I do recommend because they're pretty cool you're going to want to go into your n end instance so it's the thread backend workflow that has this and in here you're going to see that I'm using anthropic but again you could zoom in here disconnect this and pick from any number of these that we have here if you want to completely self-host AMA is a good option or for example using mistra or any number of these Google Gemini has a pretty good free tier so if you don't want to drop a credit card down you could use that as well in this case though I'm going to click to add an open AI model and use this claim credits thing here so now we got 100 free credits and yeah let's use GPT 4 a mini there same thing for this one here in this case I'm just going to do this but you could create a different one because maybe you want a different model for generating a draft for example and then we'll save that oh we're very likely to recommend in to a colleague but no I do not want and then there's also in the new message Ingress a classification feature that we've set up here that's not being shown in the front end yet but it is being saved in the database so you could also replace it here if you like or if you don't want this feature you could just disconnect that for now but our logic is that we start tagging things in the back end for a while in future you already have populated data in any case now what you could do is test the feature great so that's the reply there we can also expand this if we want to for writing and then there's also the text Snippets feature now we haven't set that up yet we can open it up in Pocket base first time around we will have to log into pocket base again that's this password and username here login and then from here we can navigate to text Snippets add one and let's say this was kendly 30 men and here I could say here's my Cal link the link would go here and then usually something around if the time zones don't work right something like that right you get the idea we'll create that and now back in linked out if I open this up it's loading that one and we can insert that or any other ones that we have there now it has a pretty good mobile view so we can just quickly simulate that as you can see Tex Styles change and stuff and
