## Описание

Tom Koorts, Lead Mechanical Engineer at Practical Engineering, shares how his role focuses on simplifying complex systems and breaking down intricate design elements so they’re easy to communicate, whether to clients, fabricators, site crews, or the internal engineering team.

What keeps Tom engaged is the variety of work at Practical Engineering. From mechanical and structural projects to pressure equipment, defence, oil and gas, and water treatment, no two days are the same.

Originally studying aerospace engineering at the University of Queensland, Tom didn’t expect to end up working across such a wide range of industries. But since joining Practical, he’s found a deep appreciation for the meaningful work, supportive team, and constant variety that make every day exciting.

Good day. I'm Tom Quartz. I'm one of the lead mechanical engineers here at Practical Engineering Australia. My role as a lead mechanical engineer at Practical Engineering is really focused on taking complex systems or complex design challenges and breaking them down into simpler tasks, simpler concepts that can be easily explained to our clients, our fabricators, people on site, and the engineering team in general. I really love the variability of work that we complete here at Practical. We're not a one show uh one show pony. We do lots of different work across lots of different industries, various applications. We complete mechanical work, structural work, process and pressure equipment work. Having that level of variability keeps me here every day. So I originally studied mechanical engineering and aerospace at University of Queensland and I graduated completing a thesis study here at practical engineering. I didn't expect that I'd be working in oil and gas or heavy industrial or defense um or waste and uh waste and clean water treatment. But uh when I started here I really love the work that I do at Practical. The team, the people here and the variability of work just keeps me enthused. It's a real joy to be here.
