This is my workday with timestamps. I'm a creative director for a US tech company and I'm based in Spain. So, my workday starts around 11:00 and I've just got back from a 10-day vacation. So, the first thing that I did was open up Slack and wait nervously to see how many notifications I had that I was going to have to deal with. And, and I

swear this is not sponsored. Would have been great if I had arranged for that, wouldn't it? But my HelloFresh order arrived and so I unpacked that and then decided that while I was already like taking a break, I was going to also make a coffee and then get back into the answering of many, many Slack messages. I prioritized and triaged all of the important stuff and then decided to mark everything else as red. It was just easier. And then the power went out.

### Lunch [0:39]

This happens in our house sometimes and we have these UPS backup systems that allowed me to keep working for a little bit. But eventually that turned off too and I decided the best thing that I could do was make lunch, just eat it cold. This uh roast veggies that I meal prepped the day before. I ate that outside while I read my book and waited for the power to come back on. But it didn't. So, I grabbed my laptop, which

### The blackout [1:00]

did not have much charge, but I used that for as long as I could to keep on making my way through things that I needed to catch up on until that died as well. So, I grabbed another book and decided I'd just sit outside and read and until the power came back, which if you saw the news, you know that the power was off across the whole of Spain, also in Portugal and parts of France. And so, uh, yeah, it was a big deal and it did not come back for the rest of my workday. This definitely wasn't the return to work post vacation that I was expecting.
