Welcome back everyone. We talk a lot about photography on this channel. Not only how to improve our own skill set as photographers, but also how to grow as a photographer. And I want to talk about this as a topic today. And I think that every photographer reaches a point where they ask themselves, "Is my work ready to be seen? " And if that question has ever crossed your mind, this might be your year to find out. The Hustleblood Masters Competition 2026 is officially open and it is an excellent global stage for every photographer who has professional aspirations and it's absolutely free to enter. I also want to note that even though this competition is facilitated by Hasselblad, there are no restrictions on what camera you use to produce the work to enter. In fact, there are none at all. You don't have to use a Hasselblad. The only restrictions they do have is it needs to be shot on an actual camera. So, no phones, tablets, or drones, but anything else goes. The Hustelblad Masters is one of the world's finest and more prestigious photographic competitions, giving acclaimed professionals as well as aspiring newcomers the chance to make their mark in the world of photography. Hustleblood Masters is not about trends, algorithms, or chasing attention. It's about vision, craftsmanship, and your personal voice. For the Hustleblood Masters, photographers from around the globe, professionals and emerging voices alike, submit their work that reflects how they truly see the world. From that global pool, Hasselblad selects a group of quote unquote masters whose work stands as a reference point for contemporary photography. All right, so let's talk about some key dates. First of all, submissions are already open and they will be open until February 28th, 2026. The finalists will be announced on April 28th. And then we go on to public voting, which will happen between April and June of this year. And finally, the master winners will be announced on June 30th. — So, there's seven categories in this year's competition. The first is landscape. And of course, landscape photography reflects a photographers's unique view of the world. These images balance visual beauty with narrative depth, inviting us into a moment of presence and connection. This category celebrates landscapes that move beyond scenery to reveal story, emotion, and atmosphere. There's a portrait category, and portrait photography captures more than just a face. It reveals character, emotion, and individuality through light, expression, and presence. These images create a connection between the subject and the viewer. This category honors portraits that speak to the human experience with honesty and intent. For the street photography category, well, street photography thrives on the unexpected. These images capture fleeting moments, lives intersecting, gestures unfolding, ordinary scenes transformed by timing and instinct. This category celebrates photographers who find meaning, tension, and poetry in everyday life. Then we have architecture. And architecture photography obviously explores the relationship between structure, space, and light. These images reveal form, rhythm, geometry, shaping how we experience the built environment. This category honors photographers who transform design into visual expression. This year, there's also a wildlife category, and wildlife photography demands patience, respect, and deep observation. These images bring us closer to animals and their natural environments, revealing moments of wonder, fragility, and instinct. This category celebrates photographers who document the living world with care and mastery. There's an art category, and the art category is a realm where concept and craftsmanship intersect. These works challenge convention, reveal independent thinking, and redefine photography as a visual language. This category celebrates images that reshape perception and resonate beyond the frame. And finally, there's a category that I find the most interesting, which celebrates younger photographers. It's called Project 21. Project 21 is dedicated to photographers aged 21 and under. This open platform encourages experimentation, curiosity, and bold personal vision without thematic limits. This category celebrates emerging voices shaping the future of photography. So, who is judging the work in this competition? Well, the Hustleblood Masters jury is made up of established photographers, museum and gallery curators, photo editors, visual artists, and industry professionals. They are experienced in evaluating cohesive bodies of work with long-term projects, not trends or popularity. And they are looking for photographers that create intentional, well-crafted, and honest work. Now, there's some really cool prizes for the winners of this competition. So, each category is going to define a Hustelblood master within that category. Each person will receive a Hasselblad X2D2 100C medium format camera and two Hasselblad XCD lenses of their choice. And they'll each receive a 5,000 euro creative fund to support new work. And each winner will have the opportunity to be featured in the Hasselblad Masters book across global platforms. So I want to talk for just a second about competitions in general and hopefully provide you some encouragement to put your work together to submit to this one. So, inevitably, and I've covered the Hustleblad Masters before in past

years, is that I will get comments where people are saying, "Well, I wasn't chosen. I guess I'm not a Hustleblad master. " And there's kind of just a little bit of a down vibe about that for people who don't get accepted. I think that is the wrong way to look at a competition on this level. I think what it is this is a great opportunity to get away from Instagram, get away from fighting algorithms and all that stuff and be able to really think about your work in a new way and put that together to get in front of eyeballs of people who are in the industry who understand that. And that's exactly what they're looking for. Now, what I would not do is go grab some images instantly after watching this video and get them submitted as fast as possible. I would slow down and think about your work as you're putting this together. As many of you know, I review a lot of books and zenes that people send in. And I have to say, you probably also realized that the quality is pretty high. There's an impressive array of stuff that get sent in. And I think the reason for that is when somebody's doing a book or even a zen is they're forced to put their work into a narrative into kind of a set of pacing. Uh you're forced to look at the idea of spreads and how images work with one another. And so the work has relationship with itself and also to you and what you're trying to say. And I think that's the same way you should look at something like this. I would first of all recommend that if you've got a project or something that you have in mind already, go explore that. Go put your photos together, start putting them together in Lightroom. Uh make a folder of images so you can spread them around and change the order and really start to think about that and edit your work. The stuff that doesn't support the ideas should go and the really strong work should stay. It sounds obvious, but a lot of people don't do this. The second thing I would recommend is find somebody that you trust that actually is going to tell you what they think about your work and being honest. Not somebody who's going to come in like your mom and say, "Oh, everything's great. " But somebody that you trust that can come in and say, "Look, if it's me, they'll say, "Hey, Ted, this doesn't work as well. Maybe think about this. Provide some new ideas and be a soundboard for you. " That's something that's really important is to have a good editor to help you with your work. And this can be anybody that you trust that has a flare for what you do, but also can be honest with you. And that's really important for something like this. And I think it's important to remember that entering a competition, especially one like Hustleblood Masters, it's a statement that you're making. It's saying that I have good work. It is being conveyed in a cohesive manner and I'm ready to actually produce this. And let's say that you tried last time around and didn't get in. Keep doing it. I want you to be encouraged on this. Don't let that discourage you. Choose work that feels honest. Edit carefully and then submit. And of course, you can find all the details for submission guidelines and the exact dates on Hustelblad's website. And the best part about this is it's totally free to enter. So anyway, if you guys have any questions, please drop them in the comments. I will see you in the next video.
