you aren't behind in life. And even if you were, who really cares? You know, in my early and mid20s, I was obsessed with one question that kept me up at night. And it was really all about what do I do with my life? And why at 26 do I not have the six-figure job? Why have I not written the books I want to write? Why don't I have my own business? Why haven't I found the love of my life? Why don't I have my own place? I was paralyzed every single night with this feeling of why do I feel so behind? So, in this video, I want to share my process for number one, making peace with the fact that you're not behind. Where you are is where you are. And number two, how to make the next 90 days and year the most productive you've ever been. What's up, guys? I'm Alex Hine, author of Milk the Pigeon, a field guide for anyone lost in their 20s. If you're trying to figure out what the hell to do with your life, this is the book I wrote for myself, so I'd recommend checking it out. Let's jump into the video here. So initially I found this feeling of feeling really behind in life after one particular conversation with a friend. So I was talking with my buddy who was very much like a corporate guy. He just went into finance immediately right after school. And from 22 to like 26 he was just climbing the corporate ladder working in New York City. Boring finance bro just chasing security. Nothing wrong with it but that was never my cup of tea. and we were talking about money and I was thinking like I'm working 30 hours at this boring marketing job so I can have enough time and energy to build my own career with as an entrepreneur and I remember like this friend was I'm going to get married in a year or two was making 80k at 26 was even looking at homes to get like in his early 30s and I'm over here living with my parents I'm trying to find my passion so like from the outside I was a total loser And from the outside, he was looking like his life was really together. Here's where the story changes, though. Fast forward 5 years. 5 years of me building my business. uploading a YouTube video every single week. 5 years of me learning business skills. 5 years of me writing two books. 5 years of me continually evolving and learning how to be a good entrepreneur. After those next five years, the roles were really reversed and flipped because now he was extremely burnt out, prematurely fat and gray, extremely unhappy with his work and always complained about his work every time we hung out and got drinks. He was actually getting a divorce after 5 years. And his life looked very, very different and it looked the exact opposite that mine did because while my goal was always alignment and growth, it was always how can I evolve? how can I grow? Money is always secondary. His was money is primary and growth is secondary. And so while he started to reach the cap of his salary early in his 30s, like 110, 120, he's probably going to be around there for the next 20, 30 years of his life. But for me, I was now making that kind of money, working part-time hours in my own business that I loved. And each year was getting more and more exciting. I had two books out. I had 100,000 subscribers on YouTube. I was traveling every like three months. I was living the life and I was super happy and now I was finally making money. And my friend was still making money, but every other part of his life was in shambles. There's something very interesting about this concept of pursuing stability versus pursuing growth. Pursuing status or pursuing money versus pursuing evolution. And the number one thing that I want to hit home on in this video is if you pursue growth and evolution and always chase the next level, you will automatically get all of those other things you desire, but you will also have that soul fulfillment along with them. And to me, that was always the most important thing. Now, one of the best experiments I ever did when I was feeling extremely behind that led to this explosive growth was I put together this 90-day 12step process to reinvent my life. How do you go from lost and confused and what the hell do I do with my life to finding a career you love and building a life you love? Well, I've actually put this together in a free guide that's right below this video. It's brand new. I just created it with my team. And it's literally exactly that, my 12step process to go from quarter or midlife crisis to work and a life and career you love. So, let's say you truly are in city. Let's say you've truly spent your 20s, 30s, 40s, or 50s legitimately pissing away your life. You haven't done anything. You're just being real. You're not being hard on yourself. You're truly just being real. You've wasted your life. That's not most people, I don't think. But let's say it is. So what? The time is going to pass anyway. If you're 20, one day you're going to be 30. If you're 30, 40. If you're 40, one day you're going to be 50. The time will pass anyway. So, might as well do what you love and you want to do. Like if you guys think about the amount of progress I made in six to seven years, while that may sound like a long period of time, if you're like 32 and you're feeling really behind and you have kids and you're like, I hate my life. I don't make a lot of money. I'm out of shape. 6 to 7 years is nothing

in the span in the scope of a human lifetime. And it doesn't matter if you're 35 or 45 and you already have kids and obligations and you don't have a lot of time for yourself. The 10 years will pass no matter what you do. So even if you just put an hour a day towards building a better life, whether it's writing the book you want to write or getting fit and getting healthy, whatever that is, 10 years will go is going to go like nothing. No matter where you are right now, if all you do is spend an hour a day to build the life you want, you're going to be so far in even just 6 months or a year or 3 years. And if you don't take that action cuz you think, "Oh, it's too late. " You're going to really regret that because one day you will be 25. 35. One day you will be 55. The time will pass regardless of what you do. So of all things, just do something. So I'm going to give you a simple challenge here. If you're feeling really behind in life, a simple thing that will shift the way you think about goal setting and how much time it takes to improve your life. One of my main entrepreneurial business mentors, he says, entrepreneurs aren't overwhelmed by the size of their goals, but they're overwhelmed by the timelines they give themselves to achieve those goals. And what he says is, I want you to create a goal that's 10 times bigger than your current life. Right? Whatever that looks like. 10 times more free time or travel, 10 times more revenue, 10 times more hours in a day doing what you love. And I want you to give yourself 25 years to achieve that 10x goal. And the value of giving yourself 25 years is number one, you remove all the time pressure. Let's say we give you 25 years to become a YouTuber, write a book, and replace your day job income. You can sure as hell do that in 25 years. You can probably do that in five years or even less if you're very very focused and you get the right mentorship. But then he says the thing that's really the most important. Set the 25- year goal. Give yourself 25 years to do that. And then all you do is focus on the next 90 days. You set a quarterly goal that is the most likely lead domino that's going to make that happen. And you just focus on that 90 days at a time. You can write the 25-y year goal, whatever that looks like for you. Let's say it's like replace my day job, self-employed, I'm making six figures, and I have a wife and kids and a home that I own. Let's say that's like your 10X vision, and I take a month off every year for a sobatical. Put that on a poster board somewhere. Print it off and then put it on your board. And then just at the bottom, write down my 90-day goal that is most likely to move that needle forward. And what my coach says is each 90-day goal, each quarterly goal, you have four of those per year. In 25 years, you have 100 quarterly goals. So all you do is try to make that quarter, that season, as much progress as you can without overwhelming yourself towards your number one goal, that 10x vision. And the funny thing is you usually end up achieving it in like half or even less of that time. This exercise, what is my 10x goal? and then just making the next 90 days count so it's not overwhelming. This has been so transformative to myself and most of my clients because you take something that seems impossible but then give yourself a 90-day goal to make that happen. So let's say you want to write a book, right? Let's say this is one of your things for this year or you're wow that would be so crazy if I wrote a book. What would your 90-day goal be? I can tell you having written two books each book I wrote in 90 days. Now, I wasn't done for another year or a year and a half, but I wrote 1,000 words a day for 90 days, and I had basically about a 100,000 words done in one season of the year. This simple secret is so underrated because so many of us make like reinventing yourself to be more complicated than it actually is. It just takes one hour a day to reinvent yourself and build an incredible life. Now, the most tangible way I've always focused on that in my own personal life, every year, I go through the 12step road map to go from lost and quarter and midlife crisis to designing an incredible life and finding work I love by using the same 12step road map I shared right below this video. We go through quadrant by quadrant each phase of life, getting your finances in order, your relationship, your health, your personal growth. And of course, no video is finished by me without another impassioned rant. So, I put together a very, very powerful rant on what you should watch if you're feeling behind in life. So, make sure you check out that related video right here.
