### Segment 1 (00:00 - 05:00) []

Sadguru is a spiritual leader and founder of the Isha Foundation whose teachings on inner engineering have influenced millions around the world. — Sguru, — we meet the world's most famous yoga guru. — He is a spiritual teacher who's known for challenging how we think about life. — He went from a motorcycle loving young man questioning the nature of existence after a profound spiritual experience in India. — I just walked up and sat on a rock. Suddenly I started feeling every cell in my body literally dripping ecstasy. I thought this lasted 15 20 minutes but when I came back to my normal senses 4 and 1/2 hours had passed. Then I shake my skeptical mind and ask what the hell is happening to me to speaking at the United Nations the World Economic Forum and universities across the globe becoming one of the most recognized voices on consciousness and human potential. The fundamental seat of your experience is within you. — Once your mind, your intelligence turns against you, there is no way out. No power in the universe can do nothing for you. Need motivation? — Watch a top 10 with Believe Nation. — And if you've been here before, drop a hashtag believe in the comments below so I can feature you here in a future video. And if you're new, welcome to Believe Nation, the only channel that helps you believe in yourself daily, one video at a time. Okay, let's kick it off with number one. Build loyalty — longterm. The only thing that will make your business thrive is that in some way your customers, your suppliers, your employees, and the general society around you, everybody benefits from you. This is a long-term investment. While we're talking about schools, I have done this with various companies in India that they must invest in schools. They said why this that we're doing 2% CSR. I said leave that. This an investment in 12 years time when they finished their 12th standard. You pick the best and put them in the next level of education. The loyalty that you develop with them, you have the best people with you and they have a strong loyalty with you. It's very important. See, we may think just intellect and competence and stuff will do. No. know it's very important the key people are loyal to the business. Anybody who's managed a certain size of anything knows without a few absolutely loyal people you can't really thrive. So you while you waiting for them to come grow them through school through medical stuff through whichever way grow the loyalty so that people are committed to your cause. So instead of seeing it as like philanthropy or just a moral obligation or just an expression of your humanity which is all good nothing wrong with that but I'm saying if we build it into the business that this is a long-term investment that you're making because uh see today's companies all these online companies and everything they're all thinking about when to sell and go out. I'm not talking about such businesses. I'm talking about brick and mortar businesses on the ground. You're going to be there for a long term. If long term, it's you have to cultivate. You don't have to hire employees. Why don't you grow them? Tomorrow's management, tomorrow's employees, tomorrow's people who work for you. You can grow them in the society, not necessarily by sponsoring a school in so many ways. you can grow them that you have their loyalty this will work wonderfully well longterm many Indian companies are now doing that I'm sure here also some companies are doing but because [snorts] uh these days in the news is all just this online companies and uh you know they're just seeing when to sell out and go that's a different kind of business number two is live consciously — I remember in one your seminars mentioned that sleep as much as you need. There's no certain things as hours or you know this time to this time that — this goes both for food and sleep. It's foolish to think you must consume this many calories, you must sleep this many hours. It's like this. Today I drive my car or my motorcycle a,000 kilome then I fill the tank three times. But tomorrow I'm just being at home. So if I go on filling the car tank three times, what will happen? — It's — probably your house will catch fire. — Yeah, probably. — So this also the same thing. Today if I'm physically very active, I eat a certain amount of food. But tomorrow if I'm not so physically active, I eat in a

### Segment 2 (05:00 - 10:00) [5:00]

way it's conducive for that activity. So some foolish idea. You must eat this many calories. You must rest this many hours. These are all silly things. You're trying to make a because these are people who live out of slogans. Don't live out of slogan. Being human means you have the privilege of being conscious. You live consciously. Today you need little more sleep. You sleep. Tomorrow your body doesn't need sleep. It'll wake up. — And that even applies for sleeping at night. Not during the day or — during the day also you sleep. Well, what do you do in your life? — I don't. But I'm asking like let's say — so what kind of food do you cook that it puts you to sleep in the day also? — It's so good. Trust me. Some people they sleep very late. So their most of their sleeping hours are during the sun time. Is this really bad or there's no nothing as bad? See whether you value life or you value death that's a question when I say this what I'm saying is see when you're asleep do you know what's happening uh do you exist consciously — I no you you're dead — for all practical reasons you are dead but body is needing that state to recoup to recover to repair many things that have happened in the system So essentially it's maintenance time. — So how much maintenance do you need? What do you drive? — Car. — What? — Porsche. Wa. All right. You drive a Porsche. And uh in how many days in a month does it go for service? — Uh usually every 20 kilometers. — Every — 20,000 km. Probably you don't do that even in a year. — I do that. I drive a lot. — Where? But if you drive very much in Dubai, you'll be in the ocean. So what I'm saying is if your car needs once in 2 months, one day of service, all right, but if it needs 10 days of service every month, better to take a train. — Yeah. So right now your body all these people are saying you must sleep for 8 hours a day which is one/ird. So one/ird of your life maintenance. — What kind of machine do you have? I'm asking. It's not a Porsche for sure. It's a rundown car. — So if you have a good car, it doesn't go for service so often. So why is it going for service so often? We must look at it. — Well, number three is embrace uncertainty. How do you know really as an enlightened master think about uncertainty? — So you think uh something is uncertain because your survival in instinct is such that you're always trying to create certaintity in a uncertain world. So in your mental structure you have created situations which you think is certainty. When it doesn't go that way, it's uncertain. See what is new about disease, death, all this stuff. Nothing new. It's been happening all the time. I must tell you this. This about year, year and a half ago. He is a great sage in South India. He did lot of service work all his life from the age of 15 16. He died at the age of 111. And all the newspapers saying he's died suddenly sudden death. Just previous day he was giving a talk somewhere. Next day suddenly he died. I said come on at 111. How do you die suddenly? We must understand the nature of life is such next step we could die. We're not wishing to die. We'll do everything to see that it doesn't happen. But it's possible, isn't it? It's every day happening to a thousand people or a million people. Not necessarily war and famine and stuff. It's just happening. All right. All the time. But every time we [clears throat] think it is just suddenly it happened. So there is one uh I'm not somebody who's good at quoting scriptures because the story was told to me just few days ago in Mahabharat that one bird which is supposed to be a yaka asked Yudhistister what is the most amazing thing in the world so Yudhistister says the most amazing thing is though everybody is mortal everybody lives like they're

### Segment 3 (10:00 - 15:00) [10:00]

immortal And they think it's uncertainity. This is the nature of our life. Mortality existence, isn't it? We're not. That's the whole thing. We planning not to get killed tomorrow morning. We may succeed. We may not succeed. So many people who are smarter than us could have died today. Isn't it? Not because they did something stupid. It could have just happened somehow. And it's happening every day. So when your expectations are defied, you think it's uncertain. But it's just a situation because people have this problem of wanting to label everything. Oh, this is a problem. This is uncertaintity. This is this. No, it's just a situation. Some situations we know how to handle. Some we do not If you knew how to handle every goddamn situation, you shouldn't be here. All right? We know how to handle some. We don't If you can handle more situations than the next guy, you become the leader. Hello. Not because you're a superman, you're the leader. Not because you can handle everything, you're a leader. You can handle more situations than the next guy in a better manner. That's a whole thing. So times of uncertaintity means what? World has never had this level of certaintity in terms of financial structure. Uh whatever the business arrangements that we have, life itself, even physical life, medically, even our mortality is far more certain than ever before, isn't it? So still we are complaining about uncertain. No, it's not uncertain. We have managed a lot of certaintity compared to how previous generations were. So let's enjoy the don't complain. But there are situations some curved ball will come. You must learn to hit it. — Number four is don't make love transactional. — One of the most sought after things in life is love. One of the most misunderstood thing misused thing is love in the world. While being in love is very different from I love you, you love me. That's a marketplace transaction. I will love you, you love me. Once there is a transaction, there is an expectation and expectation is for profit. Love is not profitable. It's a very conscious loss making venture. You may lose everything that you have and yourself too. This is for fools who are wise. You know what's the know difference between knowledge and wisdom. Knowledge means you act like you know everything. It's like this. You know a tomato is a fruit. You're very proud. You know this. You know that. But wisdom is not using a tomato in a fruit salad. So uh everybody is very knowledgeable about love but nothing beating inside. Because it's about you being in love, not loving somebody. If you love somebody, you expect them to love you. Hello. Once you are expectation, you want some fairness of who gets what. Do you love me as much as I do? — I didn't say I love you. Poor girl.

### Segment 4 (15:00 - 20:00) [15:00]

Let me tell you a story for that girl. This happened between husband and wife. She must listen carefully. Sunday morning, husband very lovingly took out his golf kit, polished each club nicely, took the ball. Look, brand new ball, but any floss carefully wiped it with a wet tissue. and preparing like this. The wife just observed him and said, "The tenderness with which you handling this golf kit obviously shows you love golf more than me. " He thought of saying the usual things, "No, baby, I love you more than anything in the world. " But he didn't want a golf kit to hear such things and if it misbehaves on the course what to do then he said Mary I have to admit I love golf more than you but I must tell you at the same time I love you more than tennis, football, hockey, basketball you name it. I love you more than all those things. Okay. So, uh once you should be a profound experience of your life once you make the transactional well you lost something very valuable. Right now everywhere it's going on we are also 7 minutes meditation own your day well maybe to get people going you have to offer them a carrot must hang a carrot in front of them because we have no stick. Hello All of you must meditate. No stick. So carrot. Well, it's fine. At one level it works cuz this is just to mitigate mental health or mental ill health. To that extent it works. We're showing the stick saying you may get mentally sick. Do this. This will happen. That will happen. But meditation is not a transaction. It's not something that you do because you will get something. Similarly, love is not a transaction. It's not something that you do. It's something that you become. If you become loving, what do you get? Nothing. Because what will I get is only important for someone who feels constantly unfulfilled. If the fulfillment of love is within you, what do you have to get? You don't have to get anything. Only those who do not know the fulfillment of what it means to be in love, they are always thinking what will I get? You will get nothing. One day you will die unloved. When I say unlouded not by somebody else without having the eulgence of love within you because if you don't invest in turning inward and create the necessary condition that you can touch the core of who you are. If you don't do that then everything is a transaction. Nothing wrong with the transactions in the marketplace. But there are no transactions here. What is there to give and take? You came with nothing. You'll go with nothing. What is there to give or take? There is nothing which is yours. There is nothing that you can actually possess. It's a psychological ailment that you think actually something or someone belongs to you. Also, if you want to take real action after this video, I made a free worksheet just for you. Covers the top lessons from today. Gives you space to write your biggest takeaways and helps you build a simple action plan. It's 100% free. Just click the link in the description to go grab it. ### Segment 5 (20:00 - 25:00) [20:00]

mind. — What is miracle of mind? Tell me, is your mind a miracle or not? After this conversation, it's one and a half miracles. The greatest miracle that we know on this planet is human mind, isn't it? — Yes. Though people are always trying to come up with something some something people ask me all can su can you perform a miracle. — I tell them okay you want a miracle say I'll put my hand in my pocket and pull out a pigeon for you. Miracle enough. Yes su okay I gave you a pigeon. What do you have? You have a bird and I have a shitty pocket. What is the point of this? Huh? Right? — But I can teach you a miracle that if you sit here, you are full by your own nature. Not because of what you do, have. You are complete and blissed out by your own nature. This is the miracle that we need on the planet right now. For this miracle, if you do not understand the miraculous nature of your mind, you will never do this. The only misery manufacturing unit that is there on the planet is it in gorg. No, it's in your mind. That's the only place where it's manufactured. — What is a miracle has become misery source of misery in most people's lives because they this is what they have done to it. See right now like a phone everybody is carrying a phone these days and they call it a smartphone. You call somebody smart only if they're smarter than you. Hello Otherwise you won't. So if you're calling your phone a smartphone, we know who you are. All right. Now the smartphone for me who grew up when there were no phones like this and we also when I was building the foundation so many hundreds of calls I had to make it was an audial to make calls. Somewhere I'm traveling on the highway then I have once in 15 days or something my phone calling day. I stop. I go to that blue box, metal box — with some wire mesh on it. And uh it's all painted there. STD. No, it doesn't mean sexually transmitted. This is you know what's STD? — Yes. — And the trunking. Yes. I'm from that age that era. — Yes. — STD so much. Local call this much international so much whatever. I have many calls to make and uh I never had a phone book. 600 700 numbers are in my mind. Names and numbers match. Never called a wrong number ever. And uh I know if I go into the booth I will take four five hours to make all these many calls. So first thing I go and give that guy 5,000 rupees. You say why? 5,000 rupees a lot of money those days. I said you keep it man keep it. I'm going to make phone calls. He keeps it and after I do for 30 40 minutes there are other local people who want to call 50 pesa call that guy is not interested in that customer right — so he will take care of them otherwise they'll all gesticulating at me and abusing me from outside because I'm calling calling I have hundreds calls to make and by the time I finish this my finger is almost broken I try this finger it won't go I'll try this finger because that black phone cutter you know right today I'm driving. If I just tell somebody's name, my phone will call. It's a blessing. But some people say they're suffering that also. — Right. Right. — They're suffering it immensely. They think their phone is driving them crazy. No. What is driving you crazy? Is this that you don't know how to drive your mind? — Your mind [clears throat] is driving you. Mind is not a good master, but it is the most efficient slave on the planet. Rule number six is seek competence. — Only those who are not so successful or successful think somewhere if you read 10 points in a book you're going to be successful. Those who are successful they know they stand on their head and do circus on a daily basis. Okay. Only in the parties they stand up straight. Rest of the time they are on their head. Okay. We need to understand this. If you want to be successful don't seek success. What you seek is competence. If you enable yourself and if you do something well, other people will say you're a success. If you think I'm a success, it's foolish, isn't it? You're doing something and you're doing it well. Other people in the town or in the country or in the world, people will say, "Oh, he's doing something really successful. " They're looking up to you. That's fine. You look up to yourself. That's madness. Okay? You don't seek success. You seek empowerment. You seek competence. You do the best that you can do.

### Segment 6 (25:00 - 30:00) [25:00]

You cannot do as well as somebody but you can do the best that you can do. So if you do your best, if your best is good enough, world will recognize. If it is not, you will be happy. Number seven is stay motivated. — You must fall in love with somebody or something. You don't find a somebody, you must fall in love with something. Something means something to you. You will wake up in the morning. Nothing means anything to you. Where is the reason to wake up in the morning? — How do you fall in love? H when first [clears throat] when Shiva wanted to teach yoga to his first Dab which was his own wife Parvati she was very eager to learn the way to enlightenment because she saw him as a glorious being and she wants to become like him. She said, "How? I'm ready to do anything. " Shiva said, "No need to do anything. Just come sit here on my lap. " She hesitated because oh, I don't want to be petted. I want to be enlightened. He said, "Relax. Come and sit here. " She sat here. She pulled her closer not out of his needs to fulfill her need. And he pulled her so closer, closer, closer and slowly she became a part of him. So there is a dimension of Shiva which we call as Ardanari [clears throat] where one half is man, one half is woman. What the imagery is trying to tell you that is only by inclusion. It's only by inclusion that life will blossom. If you have to include something into yourself, there must be space. Isn't it? If I have to make somebody a part of myself, I have to throw out half of me out only then. That's why the expression falling in love, not rising in love. Okay. Not standing in love, not climbing in love, falling in love. Because a part of you has to fall. Only then there will be space for something else or somebody else. If all of you, the whole of you falls down, there will be enormous space. You can include the whole cosmos as a part of yourself. If at least a part of you falls down, you may fall in love with one more human being or one more aspect of creation. So we can teach you ways to empty yourself. If a part of you falls down, that empty space has to be filled with something. And that something which is not you, when it becomes a part of you, when you start experiencing it as a part of you, it fires you up. Because right now what you think is me is not you. Just a bundle of thoughts, emotions, ideas and prejudices. Isn't it? That's not you. So what is you has not come into experience. So how to motivate you when you're not yet? How to get you going? You're not yet right now. All that is there is a bundle of thoughts, a cloud of thoughts and emotions and all kinds of stuff. Isn't it? So that's why the sadena you must come and do some sad initially somebody will motivate you. See when your car doesn't start somebody has to push okay once it gets going after that we don't have to push it all the way then it'll go. So initially nothing wrong using a little bit of a push. Everybody needs a push. There very few people who can propel themselves from step one. Most others need push often on a little kick here and there. Number eight is don't settle for comfort. — What does success look like? What does it take? Well, uh, you know, I know family and friends who always have their breakfast on time and after breakfast, of course, they must have coffee. After coffee, light up a cigarette

### Segment 7 (30:00 - 35:00) [30:00]

and sit there nicely because they're trying to become peaceful. And then they will go to work, come back home exactly on time for lunch, eat lunch, rest for one or two hours, sleep, then evening have one tea and then smoke and then again go to work and 8 8:00 8:30 they're back home for dinner and then maybe other things, drink and this and that and whatever. But those who have been very successful either in music, sport, art, business, spiritual process, doesn't matter what, those people never know when they ate, when they slept, when they got afternoon rest. I've not seen such a thing in my life. So uh those who are committed to being successful with whatever they're doing, one important aspect of their life is they're not settling down wherever it's a bit comfortable because comfort will happen when they lower you to in the grave. Very comfortable you are. You know right now it's about ensuring that there is profoundness of experience and there is impactfulness of activity because if they had given you a limitless amount of time you could do all those things nothing wrong I'm not against them but they gave you such little time with such tremendous potential of being human. That's the problem. — Number nine is reach your full potential. — So now uh how do I enhance my competence? See, let's say you want to run on the field. a race. You want to run 100 mters. It is not running that you have to work on right now. your legs and lungs and muscle and everything. Isn't it? So if you want to become a great engineer, yes definitely an institute like this is crucial on one level. But any number of people might have come here and gone, not all of them became great engineers. Though they might have produced hundreds of great engineers, still not all of them will become simply because of their own individual attitudes and competence and whatever else. Isn't it? So whatever the institute can do for you, it is doing. One foremost thing that you need to do is to enhance your own physical and mental capabilities because if you want to be a good engineer, you have a you need a working brain. Just having a degree of engineering can maybe be a passport to a job, but it is not a passport to success, isn't it? So to have a working brain which the engineering degree will not freeze. Usually lots of degrees when people acquire degrees they freeze their brains. They think they can now they finished using it and now they can rest it for the rest of their lives. It is not. So this is only to enhance your capability. This is just an organized effort. A school, a college, an institute is just an organized effort towards that because each individual cannot craft it for himself. That is why otherwise an institution has no other purpose. It is here to just organize that possibility of you striving to be of a certain competence. But that is a mass application. But as an individual your most important thing is you as a human being you are functioning at the fullest level. If that has to happen there are other dimensions which one needs to explore. Unfortunately though these sciences and technologies for inner well-being have been the mainstay of this culture for thousands of years. Today we are largely losing it for various reasons because we want to imitate somebody else. We don't want to imitate our grandfather Topi Wallala anymore. We want to imitate the hatsella from another country. Because of that we are losing those things but we should not we have to bring it back into our lives. This is very much a part of uh the way the culture itself is structured that it is all about the human being.

### Segment 8 (35:00 - 40:00) [35:00]

See this is the only culture which talks about which even an illiterate person in this culture is aware of that you can actually evolve to another dimension of existence even if I go into a village and talk to an illiterate peasant who has not read anything who doesn't know anything who's not heard any of this stuff even to him if I go he will not ask me give me a golden horse or something he'll say he's saying he wants ultimate liberation. Where did this fellow get this? Nowhere else on the planet this is possible. Nowhere else on this planet is it possible that an illiterate person is thinking that he can break his present dimension of existence and go to another place whatever that place is. So this was bred into our culture so deep we should not lose it. It was not just the idea there are technologies to become free. If you became free from the process of your body and mind, if you can sit outside of it and work it, you would work it brilliantly. Do you understand? You would be able to use this body and use this mind only when you are able to not treat it as myself. These are powerful instruments in your life. These instruments can be employed the way you want it only when you have an outside access to it. Right now you are a phenomenal computer but you don't know where the keyboard is. When you can't think you scratch this spot that's not where it is. Do you see people when they cannot think they're thinking hard they scratch here. It doesn't work like that. There are proper steps that one can take. It could be offered here if everybody's willing for that. — And number 10 the last one before a very special bonus clip is make your life meaningful. If you are very clear that what you're doing is significant for every life around you, other people's opinion means nothing. — But — I'm saying for 30 years plus they've been saying the same things. They're not even creative. They're not able to come up with anything new. All right? Same things they are saying, but they've not gotten anywhere because they have no substance. there's no substance to anything that they have said. So it's unfortunate that they are in that state. But what I see is uh every daily mystic code is there you know daily quote all these people are just waiting one thing that they don't understand suddenly all of them will get together and make it uh make the Twitter trend. I'm so glad because every day they're reading my quotes. Even people who are here are not reading. — They're reading. Okay, I'm saying every day carefully they're reading my quote. The day they don't understand, they think I made a mistake and boom, they'll go. I'm glad. I have worked in prisons both in India and United States. I have worked with hardcore criminals who have come for murder, rape, worst possible things that a man can do. But those things they have come and I've seen significant transformation with uh in their lives simply because of 2 days or 5 days of contact with me. These guys who continuously following me, I'm very confident one day they will be very transformed. I wish them the best. — People think I have knowledge. No, my head is empty. That's why to make it little look little substantial, I have a turban. It's totally empty always. But I have clarity. Clarity means what? You see things the way they are. Knowledge means what? You have fixed information about everything. If things have changed, you will not see it the way it is. That's as good as being blind. See, people think owls are blind. It's not true. Their vision is far more sensitive than yours. But because of sunlight, they're blinded because it's too much. When light goes down, he sees very clearly. Not because he's blind, because his eyes are super sensitive. So it's important that you bring clarity to your life, not knowledge because knowledge is conclusions that you gather. Knowledge is okay when you're trying to do something physical material in the world, but not with life. Is it true what you thought was absolute at the age

### Segment 9 (40:00 - 44:00) [40:00]

of 12 today is not true? Yes or no? Are you sure that whatever you think is this is it right now will be this is it in another 3 years time. Of — course not. — You know that. So you know you're wrong. — Yes or no? — Yes. — So you know anyway you're wrong. So why assert the wrong things? Well right now we are wrong. At least let's manage with little more conscious. If you know you're wrong, you will walk carefully. Isn't it? Hello? But you think you're absolutely correct, then you will do stupid things and you blunder around the world. If you know you're not seeing properly, will you walk carefully or no? If I ask you to walk through a dark room, suppose we turn off all the lights and close it down everything pitch dark. If I ask you to walk, suddenly will you become super alert and conscious as to how you walk? But when the lights are on, you're just going unconsciously bumping into everybody. So if you learn to walk every moment like there are no lights and you're looking at everything absolutely carefully, then what you see clearly, you go through it. What you don't see clearly, you hesitate. Some places you take a little bit of chance. But if you are just confident, you will blunder through life. We don't know where you will get in and what you will get trapped into. Most people are trapped into their professions, their family situations, their social situations in such a way they all became like this. Yes, already I'm saying not just older people, youth have become like this. What will happen to me at the end of my life? I'm already revealed the secret. You will die. But Sguru, if this happens, what to do? If that All those things will happen. It's not that everything will happen in your life the way you like it. Things will happen in the way you don't like it. It once happened. Sankaran Pilai got fired from his job simply because he asked a question smoking or not smoke non-smoking how can you get fired for asking such a simple question smoking or non-smoking he asked and he got fired because what he was supposed to ask was cremation or burial. So many times what you do thinking I'm right may be irrelevant to the situation in which you exist. So the most important aspect of your life is you're not right. You're just relevant to the existing situation. You're relevant. I am right. I am right. This is confidence. You being right. Nobody cares. All the idiots who think they are right. Nobody wants to listen to them. Nobody wants to be around them. Isn't it? People who always think I'm right, I'm right. You want to be around them. No. The important thing is you're relevant to the situation in which you exist. If you have to bring relevance into your life, you must extinguish your confidence and bring clarity. — And congratulations. You're one video closer to who you're meant to be.
