(people murmuring) - Customers care about the attributes of a product or service, its quality, the price, and how long it takes to get what they paid for. All of that is really shaped by how a company runs its processes. If the process is inefficient, costs go up. If it's inconsistent, quality suffers. Operations is really the engine of an organization, and when it's done well, it becomes a powerful source of competitive advantage. You know, we see it everywhere: product shortages, supply chain disruptions, long security lines at airports, waiting forever at a hair salon. When operations are managed well, it doesn't just reduce frustration, it improves customer satisfaction and strengthens the bottom line. I'm a mathematician by training, so I naturally think in terms of models and optimization. In operations, we model real processes and look for ways to improve them. Right now, organizations are going through a major transformation, leveraging data, AI and emerging technologies to rethink how they operate. A central theme in teaching operations is how to analyze processes, how to identify and manage bottlenecks, improve flow, and design more efficient operations. Ultimately, it's about developing a mindset of continuous improvement. You know, opportunities for improvement are everywhere, and even small, thoughtful changes can create a lasting competitive advantage.
