### Segment 1 (00:00 - 05:00) []

Let me tell you about each of these six sessions on your stress control class. In session one, you'll learn a lot about stress, what it looks like, how common it is, and how people describe it. You'll learn about stress control in nine words. And here's a short video that will tell you more. Here are the most important words you will hear today. Face your fears. Be more active. Boost your well-being. What are your fears and how can you face them? What kind of things could you do to be more active? And can you think of ways to boost your well-being? Remember that you are the most important part of the jigsaw and this is your first big step. And this step combined with all the others you will take on stress control will help teach you to be your own therapist. In session two, you'll learn how to control your body with a lot of information about anxiety and depression. You'll learn skills around caffeine control, exercise, progressive relaxation, and belly breathing. And there are relaxation tracks on the website to help you practice. Controlling your thoughts in session three for many people is the most important session. And we'll keep coming back to these skills in later sessions. You'll learn about radars, grasshopper thinking, blinkers, and your stress and common sense voices. The skills involved learning how to build the foundation, using the big five challenges, and one of my favorite skills, breaking stress up. You'll also find out why skateboarding penguins may really help you achieve stress control. Controlling your actions looks at avoidance and how stress affects our behavior. There are three powerful skills, face your fears, stepping out of your comfort zone and problem solving. And many people find that the course starts to come together. The parts of the jigsaw start to form in this session. Now, session five is a busy one that divides into two. controlling panicky feelings, looking at breathing in depth, interpretation, and also learning some great preventative skills too. It also starts to combine all the skills you've been learning so far. Then in the second half, we turn to getting a good night's sleep, a crucial part of controlling your stress, where we get to understand what's going on in sleep. We'll learn about sleep cycles, the importance of deep sleep and rapid eye movement sleep, and how to get enough of both. We'll learn a host of great sleeping tips. And for those of you with well- entrenched sleep problems, a wonderful skill called retraining your sleep. The final session again divides into two. In the first part, we look at boosting your well-being, moving from just existing to thriving by learning about compassion and gratitude and learning the five steps to well-being. Connect, be active, keep learning, give, and take notice. This last one takes us into mindfulness with everyday mindful skills, mindful breathing, and a lovely skill called leaves in the stream. We then tie the course together to make sure all the jigsaw is in place and finally look at ways to control the future, spending time looking at our values along with how to avoid setbacks and how to build resilience. These six sessions are supported by the detailed booklets, relaxation and mindfulness tracks and all the materials that you can find on the website. Now, if you don't use the internet, your service will give you paper copies of the booklets and a CD of the relaxation and mindfulness tracks. Taken together, the sessions and supporting materials provide one of the best approaches we have to tackling stress. So, we hope to see you soon at a stress control class.
