How to Create an AI Chatbot — Full Tutorial for Beginners

I'm going to say something that might sting a little your website is outdated but hey don't sweat it mine is just ancient because there's no Chad bot to guide new users you know you open a side and you're just left to figure everything out on your own we can fix that real quick and today I'm going to show you how to make a custom chatbot in under 10 minutes now I'll be using chatlink it's a platform that lets you build Advanced AI chat mods visually no code and you can drop it into any website perfect for automating customer support lead generation marketing and all the good stuff sounds awesome right so first thing I hop on the website and hit the create chatbot button it's huge you can't miss it then I get to choose the type of chatbot I want to build they've got options and all of them are basically preset except the from scratch one just tweak a few settings and you're good to go now let's break down these options the AI chatbot is for handling customer interactions automatically it pulls info from your website docs whatever data you've got it's kill if you want automated replies without much hassle then there is basic lead generation this one is a bit more vanilla it grabs contact info from potential customers great for starting conversations and collecting details but don't expect any AI Wizardry here now if you want a smarter AI driven version of that they've got AI lead generation it does all the basic stuff with frozen AI to personalize and automate the process even more Super handy for engaging leads without lifting and finger for this tutorial I'm going from scratch I give it a call name then jump straight into Builder mode I've got this canvas in front of me where I can build out my chatbot it's really simple you just grab building blocks drag them onto the canvas and L them up it's like connecting the dots check this out over on the left I get a menu where I can pick blocks set variables tweak the bot you know all the important stuff and man the list of blocks is pretty solid you've got everything from basic messages to respon captures AI responses conditions everything but let's not rush into all of that we're going to start simple like sending welcome in Tex store visitor so I drag a message block onto the canvas then grab two more blocks to collect some info from the user now when I double click on that message block I can type in the text I want the bot to send easy then comes the fun part capturing responses to make that work we need to assign it a variable you can either pick from some suggestions or create your own for this example it's just a text variable and I can adjust the settings to control how long the response can be here's something cool you can turn on voice input how many websites even have that exactly almost none it's such a neat feature since we're building an assistant bot here I'm going to throw in another message blog with a follow-up question going to keep the convo going now let's spice things up with some action we want our bot to actually do something right so I will drop in two more blocks one for handling the user's response and another for AI generated replies the first blog grabs the answer to our question and assigns it to a variable this is the info that our AI will use for the response later on tune in the bot is pretty straightforward first we tell the AI where to pull its data from can either use a built-in database or one we create if you're making a chatbot that's specific to your site or business I definitely recommend building your own database that way the AI responses will be accurate and on point next we need to give the AI its instructions or as we like to call it prompt I'm going to keep it simple something like read the variable we created earlier and give an informative answer of course depending on your business or website The Prompt will change so make sure you really think about what you want the bot to do here once that's said we can assign the ai's response to variable now this step is totally optional if you don't need to store the ai's response anywhere feel free to skip it but if you want to track what the bot's saying or use it later you'll want to save it to a variable here's one thing you've got to set up correctly the streaming switch basically you're deciding if you want the bot's response to be sent all at once or streamed as it's being generated it's like choosing between your chat bot feeling more humanlike or more like AI once you've decided it's time for the fun Port picking the model and look at this and faster go for claw Hau Opus is the heavy hitter for complex tasks then you've got the Sonet versions which balance creativity and cost Gemini models are perfect when you need speed and accuracy Gemini flash is super quick for simple stuff while pro versions dig deeper for more complex jobs and of course there's Chad gbt models are basically the gold standard of AI gbt

turbo and mini are great for smaller tasks while the premium gbt 4 models are top tier for complex in depth conversations for this build I'm going with gbt 40 because hey I want the best experience possible for anyone visiting my website that said let's be real if you train one of the cheaper models well enough you'll still get solid results just means you might need to put in a bit more time fine-tuning things now you might be wondering why do I even need a Chad bot well think of it this way Chad Bots make your website experience smoother engage users keep them hooked and as a bonus they're awesome at generating leads and the best part is that they do it all automatically you can train them on your data and they stick to that info when responding you could even turn your chat bot into a super sales person by uploading the guide full of advice and example convos the possibilities are endless I'm going to add a Blog that asks the user if there's anything else the bog can help with then I'm dropping in buttons for the user to click on these buttons will either continue the chat or end it simple enough to make them work I doubleclick the block give the button names and assign them variables next I add a condition blog based in one of the variables set everything up and boom the logic is ready now all that's left to do is to connect the blocks and we're done almost now we're going to add a farewell message block and connected to the no option for yes I will create another text block with a follow-up question and Link it back to the response capturing group and just like that our chat bot is perfectly looped Let's test it out here's our welcoming message and I've got a respond since we set up two capture response blocks the bot will wait for two separate inputs one for the name and one for the email then I describe my issue get a response and when I choose yes to keep chatting it flows perfectly like clockwork what's great is you can always fine-tune how the AI responds to queries the answers seem a little off you can tweak the way it handles certain questions or even guided towards different responses as you can see setting up the chatbot logic and flow is super easy but to really get it working you'll need to feed it some knowledge head over to the knowledge base section and pick how you want to load information you can link to a website and chat L will automatically pull the data for you can always also upload a sitap a URL or even documents want to keep it simple just add text or an FAQ the FAQ option is a solid choice for support bods you've got the flexibility to choose what works best for your needs and as a bonus you can even connect to Zoho for extra functionality so at this point our chat Bots almost ready all that's left is to make it look good and edit our site I will hop over to the appearance settings and change the primary color I'm thinking red is a solid choice you can also tweak the text color the chat background and even the size of the chat window it's super customizable you can adjust its placement on the page down to the pixel if you want you can also change the shape of the bot icon or the chat button and throw in a custom image to make it stand out finally I will head to the text section to give the chatbot name and just like that we've got a fully customized chatbot ready to roll the next thing we need to do is get rid of that powered by chatlink text easy fix just head to the configure section and flip the switch while you're there you can also enable user ratings for the Chad Bots responses this is super helpful for getting feedback and fine tune in the bot's performance you can even turn on hovering messages to boost engagement enable or disable response sources and setup auto opening so the chat pops up when someone visits your site now it's time to actually integrate the chatbot into your website there are a few ways to do this the Flo in chat option is probably the most popular it's not in your face and it's perfect for answering small quick questions then you've got in line which works great if you want an interactive FAQ section at the bottom of each page you can even set up separate chat Bots for different pages so each one covers a specific topic and lastly there is full screen it's like having a full-on Chad gbt experience on your site it's great for a comprehensive FAQ or anything that covers a lot of ground to integrate the chatbot just copy the little piece of code they give you then scroll down to integration guidelines pick the one that matches your setup and follow the instructions it's as simple as that and just like that we've built ourselves a fully functional chatbot 10 minutes no coding completely customized and trained on our own data honestly what more could you ask for adding a Chad bot to your website is one of the best moves you can
