part of our job is to normalize the use of XR Technologies here at the University of Miami Industries across the board are utilizing the XR technology and this is why it's really important to get a broad range of students to understand the technology itself because it can be utilized across multiple Industries we are lucky enough to partner with the first year directions class to utilize VR virtual reality to expose them to some of the things that happen here at the University of Miami first year directions is a class that helps acclimate new incoming students to the University of Miami and really the whole Miami day Community this really got started when we were working with the first year directions committee talking about how we can better integrate VR um into the university we thought this would be a great opportunity to introduce freshmen you know at the very start of their um career here at um to VR and all that VR can offer in the form of an application that really highlights the universi things that the U offers that students may not know about we've created a digital twin of Campus so that we can expose students in another realm to understand what the University of Miami has to offer students will be using the meta 3 headsets which we've loaded all of our applications on in this app they'll be able to do a number of things they can take the glass blowing class they can interact with Sebastian you can go and visit the architecture school Chala even you know the top level of Chala to kind of look out over the balcony over the lake they get to go to all these different buildings that they may just see in the distance while walking around on campus but not actually have the chance to go to yet this version that we have that we're sending out now is just the first version so in the future we do have plans to add in even more we hope this will be a spring board for students to understand how they can utilize this Technologies in their chosen Fields the app did go through a couple of different iterations that we as we kind of found our feed and kind of what we really wanted to get out of this experience um so we are really proud of what we made and we hope the students really enjoy it
