Hi, I need scam support, please. I really need money and I saw a job ad on social media for easy cash. I texted them, but they said I had to pay an upfront application fee first. It feels suspicious. Is this a scam? — Needing to pay an upfront fee to get a job is very fishy. Very suspicious to be honest. Certain times the job ads they do advertise easy money. — They can just perform this job from like wherever they are. flexible work from home arrangement. It's easy money and I don't have to do much with minimal work. — When you hear such good deals, first things first is you need to digest it and see if there are any red flags. If in doubt, contact the company official hotline directly. — And I think often this job postings are very vague in their description. And what we commonly see among such scams is that they were told to do some kind of task liking social media posters, boosting some kind of ratings or testing for some kind of IT applications. — In fact, these jobs they come in levels like games. You are at level one for example and then you need to unlock level two. That's where the scammers will ask you to put in even more money to unlock the next level so you can do the jobs and get commission. — Yeah. and like minimum commitment. — It sounds too good to be true, right? — Yeah. They say that, oh, this is the referred way for you to get the commission. You already have a bank account. Why do you need to open another bank account just purely for this job? — Needless to say that these scammers are going to be using these bank accounts under the victim's name to move fraudulent money around. — Yeah. And we also do see a rising trend where these victims were actually told to make withdrawals and to pass this money to the money meals as part of the task that they were told to do to receive a larger commission. — When you hear about all these tasks, right, withdrawing money, giving it to a person, and it should strike you as something that's not right. — In fact, this is a crime, right? — That's right. And remember, your SN pass and your bank accounts are strictly for your own use only. — If the job is too good to be true, it probably is. — So to make you believe, they actually add you to a group chat in one of the communication platforms. And then they will get their own people posting stuff like, "Oh, I just put in this much of money, but I've got back this much of money. " Huge returns. And these photos or transactions are actually photoshopped or even generated by AI. We also do see some advertisements that are endorsed by very well-known famous people. — It's fake, right? — Yes. It's like AI generated to say like, oh, you know, I support this scheme. So, this actually uh builds credibility — and it does not just fall on pictures, images with technology and AI. There's deep fake videos that can be created where the scammers are able to use this public figures identity, their face, even their voice to create a video endorsing such scam investments. — Some of the victims they do tell me that this investment opportunity is like once in a lifetime. I need to catch on this train now. I think scammers use this to target victims to participate in such lucrative investment. — That should be also another red flag, right? For investments in Singapore, they are heavily regulated. So do your research before committing yourself to these investments — and only deal with entities. They are regulated by the monetary authority of Singapore. Do not forget to report the scam accounts or chat groups. And do make a police report and inform the bank if you have fallen victim to a scam. As part of the bank scam defense efforts, here's a reminder to set your banking alerts, check your bank statements, and leverage on payment controls to protect your cards. We hope you found this video useful. Do share it with your friends and family to stay vigilant. Stay safe. Till the next time. — Bye.
