So, your website is on Ghost and you want to figure out a way to connect Ghost and the power of their kind of subscriber management to Castous where you're hosting your podcast to automatically add new subscribers from your Ghost newsletter to a private or a hybrid podcast on Casto. Well, you're in luck. Today, we're going to automate the entire thing through Castos integration with Zapier to show how you can automatically add new members in Ghost to a private or a hybrid podcast in Castos. Before we get started, let's talk through definitions real quick. Public, private, and hybrid podcasts, in case you haven't kind of gone through this yet. Public podcast, these are conventional things in Apple podcast, Spotify, they are content marketing. They're things that you would use to build your audience and grow brand awareness. This is the majority of podcasting up until now. But times are changing. and both private and hybrid podcasting which is available only from Castos is really the way that I'm seeing a lot of creators move their content creation efforts. So a private podcast you can think of it like a membership site right so only certain individuals who have taken some kind of action given their email address have joined a course or part of a community or have paid you some money get access to certain content. A hybrid podcast is kind of like a premium version. There can be entirely public content. There can be public and some private content. And there can be subscriber benefits like early access to episodes or ad free listening or access to back catalog. Either way between private and hybrid podcasts, the concept of a private subscriber comes in. These are individuals who again have taken some kind of action. In this case, we're going to say, hey, they've joined in ghost as a member like a subscriber. I want to add those folks as a private podcast subscriber over in Castos and we're just going to automate that because you don't want to have to be managing spreadsheets and uploading and downloading and manually entering information. We're just going to connect these two really wonderful platforms and take care of it all automatically. Let's dive into our Castos dashboard first and show how we can connect this and set up all of the logic to take care of this automatically where folks join and leave you add and remove them as private subscribers in Castos. Here in our Castos dashboard, we can see we have two podcasts set up. We have a public one that's just marketing content, right? This is, you know, conventional podcasting that most of us would think about in Apple podcast and Spotify. And we have a private podcast that we call super secret cast. Let's set up in Ghost the logic to where when a new member or subscriber joins in Ghost, that person gets automatically added into Castos as a private subscriber to get access to this private podcast. And so we're going to do this via Castos integration with Zapier. Here in our Zap year account, we will first create a new Zap and select the trigger. If you haven't used Zapier before, it's kind of a if this then that kind of logic. So the if this in this case is when a new person joins Ghost as a subscriber. And so Ghost is a website platform that also has a concept of like email subscriber management. You could use the same thing on ConvertKit even though Castos has a native integration there or Active Campaign or Mailchimp or Beehive or wherever. Even Google forms, right? We did uh we did a tutorial the same thing. When somebody submits a Google form or joins your course or whatever, add them here. We're just showing ghost as the mechanism here. Uh when somebody joins in Ghost, add them as a private subscriber. Right? So, okay. So, in Ghost triggering event is member created. remembers the term they use for like a subscriber and ghost. And I'll connect my ghost account. And this pops here. See, we need API key and the URL. And we will grab this from our ghost account and be right back. And so let's grab that API key here in my Ghost dashboard. We're in the settings area. Scroll down to the integration section and Zapier. And it gives us a bunch of options on things we can do here. And we say that's cool. Let's just grab the API key here. and we'll come back and paste this in and the API URL here. So what we've done just given the credentials the information from Ghost to Zapier to connect these two pieces of software. Okay, so that's all good and we can test this here in Zapier. Great. Set up correctly and we find our account. Great. Okay, now let's set up the We talked about Zapier as a if this then that. We set up the if this part which is if somebody joins as a member in Ghost then the if that is in Castos we want to add them as a private subscriber. Okay great. In Castos we want to create a private subscriber. Uh the account is this one here. And now we just need to say hey uh which podcast is it? What was the email address? And what is the person's name? Uh, and so we'll see our super secret

cast private podcast which if we go back to our cast dashboard that maps here, right? That's is our private podcast and that's the name of it. Great. Uh, so I'll select that and email address just need to map or kind of match the fields from ghost in this case to cast us. And so if we click the plus button then we can say great email address is this field here. That's great. and I will say continue. Okay, so we have email address. Now let's assign the name as well. Just then matching the name field from Ghost into Zapier and then pushing that over to Castos. Great. This all works and we'll click publish. That's really it. So what we've done here is just create this if this then that kind of logic in zap year to say when a new member is created in ghost add that person as a new private subscriber in casto so that they get access to my super secret cast podcast content. You can apply the same logic with really anything that zap your integrates with which is literally thousands of apps out there. In this case uh my personal website is on ghost. So, I just wanted to show how I might think about this with, hey, when a new person joins my newsletter on Ghost, I want to add them to a private podcast that I have here because this is where I share maybe some of my best content and I want to reward newsletter subscribers for taking that next step with me. Not just email content, but podcast content in this case. Okay, hope that was helpful in walking through exactly how we can automate the process of when somebody joins in our Ghost website as a subscriber or a member or a newsletter subscriber. I want to add them to a private or a hybrid podcast in Castle so they can get these exclusive subscriber benefits or private podcast content. To me, it's total game changer. private and hybrid podcasting really changing everything about how a lot of really elite tier creators are thinking about content and the benefits that their audience really gets from them and the things that they're doing.
