### Segment 1 (00:00 - 05:00) []

Hey, in this video I'm going to show you how simple it is in Beehive to collect additional subscriber information like first name, last name, location, phone number, and all that sort of stuff upon sign up in addition to an email address. So here in the Beehive website builder, I'm going to click insert and I'm going to find the subscribe form. And so here on my homepage, this is where I send users to sign up to my newsletter and I send out basically flight deals every single day, right? And so what I might want to do is collect the location that subscribers are coming from. So, let's say they're from Los Angeles and a lot of people are they're signing up to my newsletter. It might make sense for me to use that information to send more flight deals from Los Angeles. I can also do additional things which I'll show you later. But first, let's show how to collect this information. So, once you've inserted the subscribe form, just click on it and click add field under form fields. You'll see some preset options, but here I'm going to click build your own. Now, under type, I'm going to select short response because I want users to type in, you know, the city name they're from, right? But I could also select dropdown and actually allow them to choose from like a list of options. But in this case, I'm just going to select short response here for name. This is for internal use. This is for you to know what information you're collecting. Users don't actually see this, but I'm going to type in like city name and like country or something like that, right? And then for placeholder, this is what shows in the field here before they click into it. So I'm going to do something like city name country and then like give an example like uh Los Angeles or US or something like that. Right now I can make this required or not. So if I make it required they must submit information for this like enter stuff in this field for them to subscribe. But in this case I'm going to do no. Here I created it and added the field and now I can publish the changes to my website. So here I just did that. And then I'm going to show you where this information can be found and what you can do with it. So I'm going to click home here. So this goes straight to the page I was on. And here I'm going to type in my email. So stephenbehive. com. And let's just do like Toronto Canada. And click subscribe. Now once I do that, I can go over to my subscribe page. So under audience subscribers and click on this profile. Now under custom fields I should be able to see the answer. So here I can see Toronto Canada. So you can do this on an individual basis. You can view what someone answered on an individual basis. In this case me but you can also create a segment and let's call the segment like location or something. And here I can add an attribute. So if someone's custom field is a specific answer. So here custom field for the specific custom field here is like Toronto, Canada, right? So if someone answered this specifically, I'll see all the answers. So if like 100 people answered something like Los Angeles, I would be able to see all them. So here you can see my email address is here. And what I can actually do is if I were to like create a post, let's say a bunch of deals from like Toronto to the rest of the world, I can send specifically to that audience. So I'm going to click on audience here. So when I go to post this, I can go and include the segment and untoggle like all subscribers here. So here I can do location. I should probably rename this to like Toronto or something like that. So I don't but that's something I could do, right? I can send it specifically to that audience. What I can also do is in the actual text editor here, I can actually add a merge tag and it'll actually show their answer to that custom field. So here if I type in the merge tag, I think it was city name and country. Whatever they answered here will actually show. So I can do something like if this was a welcome email, I could do like welcome to the newsletter. I see you're from. So I can personalize every email I send to this. So you might want to, you know, use this differently depending on your use case. But here, let's say I'm creating a welcome post, right? So here, if I go and preview this, I won't actually see what was typed here because this is just a general view from all subscribers. But if I were to select a specific subscriber like myself, I could actually see the answer right here. Right? So this is what a user would see. So what I might want to do is actually add a fallback, which basically if they did not submit something, they would see something different. I see you're from XYZ, right? Or you can say like North America or something like that, right? So you would add like this line here and the text, right? So here you can see if I didn't answer, I would see this. So here you would hold shift and type the backslash key. Something funny like could be like you're from planet Earth or something, right? And so if I preview it, I can actually preview it from like the view of a free subscriber here. So here they because like it's a general person, they don't have an answer, but if I were to select a specific person here who answered it, you can see Toronto, Canada. So here you can see there's a bunch of different ways you can personalize your emails and also
