## Описание

time to build something for yourself :) if you recognize any of these snacks, share your memory in the comments. my favorite: haw flakes 👀

This video is not sponsored. Dedicating this episode to my late cat, Juzai ('piglet' in cantonese 🐷), the little cat in the photo beneath my monitor. I rescued him on a rainy night, and he gave us 9 wonderful years of love. He passed away on 8 Feb 2026 from kidney failure. We miss him deeply. 🩶

These are my favorite childhood snacks and I turned them into a museum. Hand drawn, designed and built from scratch in two days. It all started with a memory. Growing up in Malaysia, every neighborhood had a sundry shop. It has snacks, groceries, household stuff all crammed into one tiny space. These days sundry shops are slowly disappearing and with them a little piece of Malaysian history fades too. So, I started digging. Old snack packaging. Sundry shop photos. And signage from streets that barely exist anymore. I started sketching and figuring out the experience of the site. How should this website feel? What do people see first? How do they move through it? An infinite canvas felt right. Somewhere you can drag snacks around and read its story. There's something about this project that feels good for the soul. I wasn't thinking about anything else, just drawing snacks that I haven't seen in 20 years. And actually, I haven't drawn in 5 years. And it got me thinking, nobody talks about just making something that means something to you. Something only you can make. Something that has soul. I lost my spark for a while. I think a lot of us do. Somewhere between busy work and trying to keep up with the latest tools that dropped last week. This little project reminded me why I like what I do and I think it might do the same to you. The first thing I needed was a typeface and the moment I saw this, I knew it was the one. Next, I export the hand drawn snacks from Procreate and paste them into Figma. — With a rough idea in my head, I started piecing everything together. And then came the part where I was most nervous about. I was afraid that I couldn't build whatever I imagined because I couldn't code. But I tried anyway. There's something deeply satisfying about building something for yourself for once. Watching it go from idea to something real sitting right there on your browser. That feeling, that's why we make things. This little project isn't just about the snacks. It's about the joy that came from the simplest, smallest things. Sometimes the least expensive things in life are the ones we remember the most. I did this in two days with just an idea and a $20 cloud subscription. You can literally build anything you want these days. You have a story that only you could tell. So, go [snorts] make something delightful. Make it whimsical. Make it yours. — It doesn't have to be big. It just has to have soul.
