Data Nerds, I just rebuilt my app, datanerds. tech, that's going to help you land a job faster. This bad boy tells you the top skills employers are actually asking for in the market right now, while also allowing you to dive deeper in seeing which of these skills pay the most. Oh, and it even lets you search current job postings that match the skills that you already have. But, before we even go into all of that, we need to understand why this app is even needed. So, feel free to go to any chatbot and ask it, "What are the top skills of your data job of choice? " I'm going to search for data analyst. So, for this it calls out three main skills: programming, SQL, and data viz. So, the problem is this chatbot is one, it's missing tools, and it's overemphasizing something like Python, which I don't think it's required based on the actual data. Anyway, how do I know this? So, if I prompt it asking it, "What are its sources for these top tools? " it hallucinates and tries to tell me that it analyzed job postings. And when I confirm on this, it tells me, "No, it didn't. " Now, the problem is this, these chatbots are often providing the wrong information because they're built upon the loads and loads of web pages that have incorrect data in it. Specifically, if I go to one of the top Google results for analyzing the 10 key skills for data analyst, they are promoting some top skills in here like Excel, which was missing previously, along with SQL and Power BI. But, then going into other questionable skills that are less desired for data analytics. And when you dive into it deeper, they're basically trying to sell you their curriculum or program that has these skills already built into it. Oh, and this is not just specific to universities, also other course platforms are doing the thing and calling out skills that they sell curriculum for. And so, all these websites and thus chatbots are having the same problem in that they're not using actual data to cite which skills you should learn. Kind of ironic that we're not using data for data nerds. So, enough with the intro, let's get into my app datanerd. tech. Right now, it's analyzed over 4 million job postings over the past 3 years from over 171 different countries, and it's updated daily. In here, we start by selecting a job title. Data analysts, data engineers, and data scientists are the most popular, and then you can also select which country you're coming from. We're going to just stick with exploring skills first. From there, we jump into directly analyzing what are the top skills. Tells us how many job postings there are, the average number of skills per role, and its median salary. For each of these skills, it tells you the percent likelihood of it being in a job posting. For SQL, it's appearing in four out of 10 job postings. Now, based on real-world data, we can see that Python is not the number one skill. In fact, it's SQL, then Excel, then Python, followed by viz tools. We can then take our analysis a step further, and then go look at what are the most optimal skills for data analyst. With this, I'm plotting the skills not only based on their likelihood of appearing in a job posting, but also what is their median salary. So, SQL's appearing as the most optimal skill because it has not only a high demand, but also a high salary. But, this graph gives some other insights that we could capitalize on other skills that are gaining even more and have a high demand like Spark, Looker, or even Snowflake. And finally, we can take our analysis one step further and verify that our skill is actually going to stay in demand by analyzing its trend. And with this, we're seeing that SQL is not only still the most demanded, but actually, it's the fastest growing. So, base no SQL's a data analyst. So, now let's say that you have the skills necessary in order to land a job, but now you're searching. Well, this is where my jobs page stands out and aligns job postings based on your skill set. Inside of here, I can list the different skills I have such as say SQL and Power BI and then it list recent job postings that you can go through and search which provide their own analytics for the posting. Here I can see that this analyst role provides six different skills and that the average is four for this type of role. It also tells me based on the salary whether the posted range of this is within the market median I'd expect for this. Oh, and even if you scroll down you can see the full description of what it's asking for in there. Now there's one last section that's probably the most important in understanding what are the top skills you should be striving for in your data jobs and this is under the research page. It shows not only for data analyst but also for data engineers and data scientist what are the top skills and how to read these results. Navigating back into the data analyst top skills for 2026, the analytics in this research paper update on a daily basis. Just click refresh and you can see that the numbers are actually loading. Anyway, I go through and break down each one of these top three data

jobs explaining what are the top skills and how to read any of this analysis. I also use the data to provide you with a recommended learning order of how and when you should learn these skills and when you're actually job ready. Spoiler alert for data analyst, you only really need to know two skills. Anyway, enough of me yapping, it's time for you to dive in and check out datanerd. tech. Building the data pipeline and also revamping the entire front end in order to get you this app it took me over a month and I've learned a lot. I'll be implementing it in a lot of upcoming data engineering courses that I'm excited to share with you about. All right, with that I'll see you in the next one.
