The manosphere says that the dating market is rigged against men. Here's what the data actually shows. On dating apps, men match at significantly lower rates. Men initiate more and receive fewer responses. These are well-documented patterns, but the conclusion drawn from those numbers is often wrong. The data doesn't show a rigged system, it shows a misaligned one. Most men are competing for a small percentage of women while overlooking the majority. The women's experience isn't much better. It's hard, but in a different way. They have more matches and more options, but they also get more unsolicited messages, so they have to spend more time filtering for safety, for misrepresentation, just sorting through all of the annoying douchebags. The bigger truth here is that dating apps are statistically not working for anybody. They are not built in a way to represent what creates meaningful and lasting relationships. They over index on the superficial and the ease of rejecting people. The research, when you dig into it, points to the same thing it's always pointed to. Just get off your screen, go into the real world, talk to a human being face-to-face, and tell them you like them.
