### Segment 1 (00:00 - 02:00) []

How to decide if someone is coachable or not like a leader, not a manager. Well, number one is we're going to look at how they respond to feedback, not how they talk about growth. See, a manager says, well, they say they want to improve, but a leader says, no, I pay attention to what happens after we give that feedback. See, coachability shows up in action, not intention. So, what did they actually do different after our last conversation? Words show desire, but action shows coachability, and that's what we're looking for. And number two is we want to notice whether they take ownership or they deflect. All right, a manager says, well, I mean, they always have a reason, but a leader says, no, I look for ownership. Even partial ownership is okay. Coachable people say, I own my part. Even when it's uncomfortable. And when things don't go well, do they look inward or outward first? Right, do they have an internal locus of control or external? Because growth really starts when ownership begins. This is what's within my control, this is what I'm going to focus on, own. Oh, and real quick, if you're looking for leadership tools, the questions, activities, tips, frameworks, these save this, not that cards, everything I talk about, you can sign up here, get a discount, or click the link in my profile and start using them today. Then number three is we want to watch for effort towards the change, but not perfection. A manager might judge and say, well, they're still not where they need to be, but a leader says, look, I'm looking for movement, right? Not miracles, not instant perfect results, but momentum in the right direction. Remember, coachability is not about those instant results. It's about their willingness to try and give it everything they've got. We can ask ourselves, are they experimenting with new behaviors? Are they following up with us is going to show up in motion. So, that's what we look for. See, a manager might judge coachability by likability, but as leaders, we look for ownership, effort, and follow-through. And look, leadership is not a title, right? It's a fire. And we have the opportunity to ignite it, not only in ourselves, but in others. Now, if you like these little tips and frameworks, check out my profile and follow me.
