## Описание

Founders and investors — the rich and the richer — increasingly mingle within a scene in search of deals. But we're not talking about AI conferences, a Silicon Valley hub, nor a spot beside DC power brokers.

It's F1 races, and all the celebration and excess that surround them.

Has F1 become the new hottest place for a startup to strike a deal? Hi, I'm Dominic reporter at TechCrunch and I went down to Miami a few weeks ago to find out that well, everyone else was there too. For those who don't know, F1 weekend is a massive three-day affair. There are kickoff soirees, cocktail parties, dinners, nightclub takeovers, and of course, the race itself. The sport has become incredibly popular in the past few years, mainly driven by the Netflix show Drive to Survive. I spoke to a lot of investors and founders that went to the race down in Miami and they told me that it's the hot place for everyone trying to strike a deal right now. In fact, one founder told me he didn't even go to the race. He just went to the side events. It's not entirely surprising that F1 has become a new place for a lot of tech people to gather and network. Because in the past five years, tech has kind of eaten F1. Oracle is now the sponsor of Red Bull. Microsoft is working with Mercedes. Coreweave is working with Aston Martin. You have Anthropic working with Williams. Planeteer and IBM are working with Ferrari. AWS is overall providing data analytics to F1. 11 Labs and Revolut have teamed up with Audi. When I was down in Miami, I actually ran into a venture firm that has a partnership in place with F1 to bring those firms' portfolio clients to the races. At the races, these startup founders are then introduced to potential enterprise clients and the teams who are also looking to adopt and explore new emerging technology. One of my favorite quotes from this piece was when I was talking to a founder who mentioned that startup and F1 actually has a lot in common. And that's engineering excellence, rapid iteration, and a willingness to spend big to win. The founder then gave me one of my favorite quotes from this piece, which is talking about how F1 is a luxury sport by nature, which automatically then attracts a certain type of person. He then went on to say that he's heard of deals getting struck from the helicopter to the hotel and then onto the race. So, if you're a startup looking to strike a deal, F1 might be the hottest place to be right now.
