One of the most important parts of the robot is the needle. It's responsible for grabbing every single thread and inserting it to the intended depth that we want into the brain. To the naked eye, these may look like ordinary needles, but they're really not. They're packed with different features and intricacies that really let us perform our functions without compromising on quality or safety. So, behind us is our custom laser mill. The purpose of it is to take our needle and engrave very small features that aren't even visible, but are what allow us to pick up every single thread and insert it into the brain. The threads that we are trying to insert are on the order of a red blood cell. And so, you can imagine that in order to pick up something that small, you need features that are similarly small. Before where we would cut all of these features, we would then have to move it and measure it. But with this updated version, we've been able to get it to be a one-stop shop where we cut everything and measure everything all at once. So, this way we can move needles through much faster and produce more at a higher rate. Here at Neuralink, we are constantly improving and we are constantly innovating. This is what's going to improve our scalability and allow us to help more people with our product.
