### [0:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3ZEgs5CDWI) let's reset!

I love that it's already light at this time. Good morning, friends. This is my first day back at school, back into routine after the craziest two weeks of travel. And I really feel like I need to reset. I need to reset my habits. So, for the

### [0:44](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3ZEgs5CDWI&t=44s) my 3 daily habits

rest of this week, you can hold me accountable. I am going to try and do three habits every day. I'm going to meditate when I wake up for at least 10 minutes, but ideally 20 minutes. I'm going to write for at least half an hour every day. It can either be a stream of consciousness journal or ideally helping me piece together my thoughts about all the education stuff I'm reading, the people I'm speaking to, the documentary I'm making. And thirdly, because I am being a lot more intentional about the voice that I want to have in the education space, I want to post something every single day. Whether it is an Instagram post, a LinkedIn post, a YouTube video, something to help me get over my massive perfectionism with everything I do and just create more. So, I'm going to do that every day. Before you properly enter this video, I invite you to also decide, do you have three habits that you would like to do this week to research? If you do, please comment them down below. We can hold you accountable. You could even like come back every day and write on your comment if you've done your habits or not. Whatever is helpful to you. I work part-time as a teaching assistant in a local school. And today I don't need to go in until 10:00, which is lovely. So, I have a bit more time to do my habits. You cannot pour from an empty cup. And it's so important that for everything you give, you also replenish. So, I'm going to meditate because for me, meditation is one of the most important ways that I replenish my energy. This video is kindly sponsored by one of my favorite meditation platforms of all time, Headspace. I'm about to do a 25minute cultivating loving kindness meditation and there'll be a link in the description of the video. If you also want to learn how to meditate completely for free, you can get 60 days of completely free Headspace. So, if you've been wanting to learn how to meditate, this could be the moment. — Your shoulders to soften and silently

offering these phrases of loving kindness to yourself. May I be happy and peaceful. May I be safe and protected. Now bringing to mind someone you care about. Picturing them in your mind's eye. May you be happy and peaceful. May you be safe and protected. May you be healthy and strong. If emotions arise, seeing if we can let them move through gently with care. Wow, I didn't expect to get emotional. That was such a powerful meditation. I felt like Dora was saying everything as it was coming to me in my mind. Like when she was like, "Oh, if any emotions come up, just observe them. " And I was full on like just crying. I was like, "Oh, I feel so seen right now. " It's crazy how you don't even know that you are holding emotional tension, especially when life is busy. You're in a work oriented headsp space, task ticking mode. You know, adrenaline is such a useful thing for getting things done. But oh my god, it feels so good to soften because I know that when I'm in that place of tension, I have a lot less empathy. I get triggered more easily. You know, if I'm in the school and a kid is just annoying me, you know, I want to be able to act from a place of love and kindness and compassion and to feel a lot of space between me and any feelings of being triggered. A meditation is so important to help you do that. H I didn't intend for this to be such a long introduction, but what a week ahead. If you're interested in doing that one, it was called cultivating loving kindness, and you can toggle it from 10 minutes to 30 minutes. This one

### [5:01](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3ZEgs5CDWI&t=301s) teaching assisting at a local secondary school

Just be fatty. Sorry, my flat is a bit of a mess. I just have this random stuff everywhere. The weather is so variable. I've had an umbrella and a coat, but now today is really sunny, so I don't know what to wear. I just got back from school. It is about 5:00 p. m. and I've made some tea. One of my favorite easy snacks is a banana and almond butter. I'm obsessed with almond butter, especially anything pepperonut. Today was really good. I just love the kids that I get to work with and it feels weird calling them kids. Like year seven's obviously they feel like kids but towards um like year 13 you're a young adult. It's coming up to exam season. So things are feeling a bit more stressful at school. So I've been doing more support sessions. Yeah. I just love working with young people. I love it. I love the moment that I can see I have said something in a way that makes it click. It's such an exhausting job, but such a rewarding job. I would love to become a teacher at some point, do a PGC. I feel like being a TA is such a nice way of getting experience in a classroom, understanding more about what it actually means to be a teacher. I have my book club tonight, so I'm going to read two chapters of this book. If you haven't already read it, I can't recommend this book enough. It has completely transformed the way that I see every event. It's all about how to make gatherings more intentional. Whether that is a birthday, a funeral, a peace negotiation between ministers, a panel at a conference, you know, how can you employ little hacks like things like human psychology in order to make events incredibly meaningful and life-changing for people? Highly recommend. At the moment, I've never related more to the 9 to5 and then you come home and you have your 5 to9. I am really struggling to balance my life right now and I want to keep being able to reply to everything. Editing takes so bloody long. So long and do some work for the next few hours.

### [8:37](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3ZEgs5CDWI&t=517s) morning reset habits ✅

Good morning. The question is, will Jade cry in today's meditation? Today I fancy doing Headspac's body awareness meditation. — Welcome to this Dora. When you get attached to a voice, it is literally like you're meditating with a friend every day. I don't have as much time today, so I'm going to do 10 minutes. Remember, if you want to meditate for free, link in the description to this practice where we'll be focusing on the different sensations allowing the mind and body to settle and arrive.

### [9:37](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3ZEgs5CDWI&t=577s) an exciting call!

Guys, I just got off a call with the creator of one of the pedagogies. that I'm most fascinated in. It's like a method of teaching. She's been in education for four decades and I just casually got to interview her. It's crazy. And at the start of the call, I was expressing to her, you know, my work, my interests, my goals within education, storytelling, and getting more young people to think about their education as malleable, but I also expressed that I'm relatively new to the space. You know, I haven't been working as an educator for decades, and I'm really here to kind of like listen and learn. and she stopped me and she was like, "Jade, I watched just one of your videos and from that one video I knew enough about who you were to know that you are what this space needs. " That's what she told me. She said, "You are what the education space needs and you are going to push forwards radical transformation that can only happen when there's a movement of conversation around it. " So that was cool. That was an honor. And she complimented my ability to bring nuance to these conversations. And I really appreciated that because I find it hard on social media where controversy is prized. People don't have attention spans to continually share like all the different perspectives around something to not simply demonize one system and idolize another. I keep thinking back to myself a year ago where I was really genuinely I was quite depressed in that time. I've never had panic attacks in my life, but I was having them. Felt so lost and purposeless and also so scared to make a change in my life. I almost just didn't believe in myself anymore. But I kept thinking that the only thing stronger than fear is inspiration. So if you are scared to move forward rather than focusing on the fear and trying to remove it, why not inspire yourself? Figure out what you are passionate about and dive deeper into it. Because when you feel excited about something, it pushes you forward whether you try to or not. And I just feel so inspired and passionate right now.

### [11:39](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3ZEgs5CDWI&t=699s) exploring sunny brighton on my work break

### [12:23](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3ZEgs5CDWI&t=743s) i get to interview the education secretary of the UK!

I just got invited to interview the education secretary of England, Bridget Phillips. I have so many things to say to this woman. I have so many suggestions, feedback, improvements. So you can go watch my YouTube videos. Oh my god. Ah, you can make anything happen. This is mad. I manifested this. I said this year I really want to meet ministers. I want to chat to them. Not that I think, you know, one chat that they are likely having with me for PR reasons is going to radically change the system, but I wanted to be at the level that I could have conversations with these people that I would make myself well read enough, experienced enough to have opinions that I felt are worthy to be brought to these the upper echelons of decision-m in the education world. And it's happening. I'm going to the education world forum next week. Crazy, crazy. I'm just a girl. I hope I can suitably represent the voices of the incredible educators on the ground doing this work every single day who need better pay. I want to represent the hundreds of thousands of students who deserve even better out of their education. And oh god, I want to be part of paving the way for a better education system. Also, you know, this tea is fresh off the kettle because I had that bloody thing in my teeth the whole video. Now returning the breath back to its natural rhythm. Today I wrote a little piece about how

### [14:17](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3ZEgs5CDWI&t=857s) what i wrote today

difficult it is to measure skills like empathy, collaboration, leadership, and how the fact that they are less measurable means we have designed an education system that prizes what is more measurable like arithmetic and literacy skills. But in order to challenge the system in the way that I want to, I know that I need to find a way to make more human skills measurable. And so in my writing I explored how in theory a skill like empathy must be broken down into its composite parts so that you could create metrics for each of those component parts and also deise some kind of hierarchy of understanding to place a human's ability like on this hierarchy. I know that the CEO of ETSS is doing stuff around this around measuring skills based learning. So yeah, that's what I wrote today. Maybe I'll post something about it. We'll see. Today is just a laptop day. Major laptop day. A lot of editing, interviews for my docu prep for next week. I've wrangled a meeting with someone representing the Fair Education Alliance and Disabled Children's Partnership, open letter to the government um about their consultation for the send review like special educational needs and disabilities. And I hope they can help tell me what to say for the announcements that the education minister is going to make at the conference next week so that I can yeah be best prepared and represent the voices of people in this country who are really struggling because of the way that things currently are and hopefully inspire them to move the needle forward. Cheers. It started raining and the

weather is so weird. I've just been to yoga after a day of being on my screen all day. So, you know, I'm just happy and just embracing being outside and feeling just feeling like the water on my skin and just being outside. Just being out of that stuffy room off my laptop. So happy. Isn't it crazy how your perspective changes everything? I've got Noah Khan's song, End of August, stuck on loop in my head constantly. I love it so much. She's so — I don't know who needs to hear this, but it is always in your power to see things differently and to remember what you're grateful for.

for. — I've never had a cat before. My parents were allergic. My brother's allergic. But this cat has taught me so much about cats. It's my neighbor's cat, but he comes all the time. Also, guys, I have successfully posted something every single day this week. And I gained 10k followers on Instagram. Bloody hell. I need to get over my perfectionism because when I just post things, it goes well. So, I hope that can be an invitation to any of you who have been wanting to post more on social media but are too scared to. Just do it. Set yourself a challenge. Do it.

### [17:34](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3ZEgs5CDWI&t=1054s) preparing for the education world forum

The next few days just became solely about preparing for the Education World Forum. I don't think I quite realized what an absolute honor it was to be invited. They have never in the history of the entire event ever had press or creators. It's the largest convening of world education ministers. Like it is a very political event and I needed to do a lot of research. So, in true study tuber fashion, I started memorizing the faces and names of ministers, preparing as many questions, familiarizing myself with people's policies, and making sure I could get the time off work. But maybe what people don't talk about as much is preparing your energy state, and I knew those three days of the forum would be an absolute sprint. I would be there from, you know, 7:00 a. m. until 6:00 p. m. And so that weekend, I went into nature. I did all these replenishing activities to make sure I was in the best place to go to the forum next week. These flowers always remind me of summer. These white ones, my little cow hip, cow flip. Feel so grateful at age 26 to have all these tools in my emotional tool kit to know how to regulate myself to reset. So, I hope you enjoyed this very sporadic random video. It's so hard to form my life right now because my life is kind of ever changing. And I hope it inspired you to do your own habits. Definitely click the link in my description if you want to try meditating with Headspace. And I love you guys so much. Thank you for being here and for supporting me in this crazy education journey. Bye.
