I'm back with another art battle and it's a thrift store art battle where I challenge three artists. I gave them each $50 to go to any place they can find used junk and turn it into a masterpiece. But first, the wheels of doom for some prompts. Spin, spin, spin. Okay, lemur. Our art has to feature a lemur. Also, portal and armor. All four of us hit the streets and got our thrift on. It felt like my search would never end. But then I found this old metal cabinet for 20 bucks. After getting it back to my studio, I started prepping this thing for its transformation. I also started scribbling some ideas for my armored lemur. When my sketch was done, I used my projector to get my sketch onto the cabinet. The tricky part about painting old Leo the lemur here was the mixture of super cute fuzzy fur with this hard flat metal armor. The fur over overlapped the armor in some areas and the armor over overlapped the fur in others. So, I was constantly bouncing back and forth to make things look correct. But I think my painting turned out sick. But you may be thinking, "Bro, the wheels of doom landed on portal. Where's your portal? " Well, my concept is that the door of the cabinet itself is the portal guarded by this lemur. A portal to an epic utopia. See, look at this utopia. Well, uh, it's just shells right now, but it will be a utopia. After a quick trip to the craft store, I was ready to start building out my Garden of Eden. First, some background elements. A little spray paint, some UV printed clouds, and a couple foam core mountains. And we have a solid base to work on. This is where I called in the expert, my wife. She has a knack for like miniatures and diaramas and models. And after looking around outside for materials, we got to work. She really made this subterranean layer look awesome. And then we worked together on this giant tree. A couple little forest creatures and these beads that I found that look like my instigator characters. And now my utopia is looking very utopian. Ah, I love the way this project turned out. But is it good enough to beat my fierce competitors?
