Hey guys, just want to give you an update on what's going on with the Hanta virus ship issue. This is the May 10th. This is Mother's Day. So, happy Mother's Day. And so far, there has been no one that has not been on the ship that has had contact with people that are on the ship that have tested positive for the Hanta virus. Now, there's been some people who have become ill and they were sitting close to them on a plane, for instance. Um and they've taken them in and tested them and they've been negative, which tells us that the illness that they're feeling is not from Hanta virus. But, they still need to be watched for the incubation period of 8 weeks. So, that's good news that we have not had confirmation of any positive test with anybody that was not on the ship but had contact with people on the ship. Okay? Those are called suspected cases. We have not actually had any confirmed cases, which is good news. The other news is that uh the US uh citizens that were on that ship are being repatriated back to the United States. And um I'm hearing some stories that they will not have to actually quarantine uh in Nebraska. It's not going to be mandatory. Now, I have some mixed feelings about this. Well, on one side, I think we need to be very careful and we need to make sure that uh because the incubation period is very long, that I personally think and um you know, this is just my opinion, that uh we should be watching them until the incubation period has come up because of the risk, right? Um and there is some uh there is some evidence that up to 6 to 8 weeks is what it takes to actually find out. So, but on the other hand, uh I know that we've been talking about the benefits of sunlight and fresh air. If there was some way that we could keep them quarantined, but still allow them to have access to fresh air and sunlight, cuz I think that's really important for our immune system. And 6 to 8 weeks is a long time to go without being outside. So, um I do think that we should probably be quarantining them um in a way, although uh that could be very disruptive, of course, uh for their lives and we have to be uh cognizant of that, but uh looking at the bigger issue here is we don't really want this to get out cuz it's going to be harder to control and do uh a tracing if you're allowing them to go outside and uh and be on their own. Anyway, let's hope that this stays this way in terms of no confirmed cases outside of those people that were on the ship and we'll keep updating you as things uh develop. Join us at medcram. com. Thanks for joining us.
