### Segment 1 (00:00 - 01:00) []

Okay, let me just rant for a second. This is a website called Twitch. I like streaming to Twitch. I like watching Twitch. The only thing I don't like about Twitch are Twitch ads. Now, if you're a streamer, there is actually a way to prevent your viewers from watching Twitch ads, and that is to tell Twitch that you do not want to be affiliated with them and partnered with them. This means that you won't make money off the platform, but your viewers won't see ads. So, it's up to you whether you make this trade-off or not. Now, here's the problem. Your transcoding options, that is the ability for users to choose 1080p, 720p, 480p, whatever it happens to be, is actually dependent on whether you are affiliated with Twitch or not. And if you're not affiliated with Twitch, it's much more unlikely that you will get these transcoding options. Which means that you as a streamer basically have to choose between lowering the quality of your stream or giving your viewers ads, which isn't great because YouTube exists and it allows you to choose whether you do or do not put ads on your live stream. So, the reason I'm annoyed by this is because I've been streaming on Twitch for a relatively long period of time. This is years at this point, but I chose not to show my viewers ads. Here's the thing. I don't mind any other form of monetization. I don't mind subscriptions. I don't mind bits. I don't even mind sponsored content. That's all totally fine, and I don't mind giving Twitch or YouTube or whatever a little piece of that pie. That's fine. It's just at this point, if I'm being honest, I'm not going to be making that much money off of advertisement revenue. But now I've had two live streams in a row where I haven't had transcoding options, which is a first in a long, long time, and I'm starting to wonder whether I should affiliate myself with Twitch just to make it so some people could watch my stream who couldn't otherwise do so. I mean, I could always just tell people, "Hey, if you don't want to see ads, go to YouTube instead. " Because I can dual stream, at least. I get it. They have to pay for the servers. That's totally fine. Let me choose which advertisements are on my stream, and I'm totally fine with putting ads on my stream as well. That's it. That's why I'm annoyed. I don't want to make my viewers experience worse simply because Twitch wants to make money off of me. And it's not even that much money. I get like 50 viewers. Why do you care?
