Every year for the last six years, there's been some sort of benzene scare. And every time it is the same situation. There's been low levels of benzene, a cancer-causing chemical found in products by a lab that is not exactly reliable in my opinion, and has a history of working with class action lawyers. This time, it's benzyl peroxide breaking down to form benzene, which is the same thing we talked about in 2024. I did a long video on the history of these benzene scares and the lab behind all of them, which, let's just say, have a very interesting past. Benz peroxide can break down into benzene, but it usually takes a really high temperature for a really long time. The exposure you get is still less than the amount of benzene you breathe in every single day because benzene is everywhere in the air. It is found in petrol. And all of this sounds really scary, but it is scientific language. It doesn't mean what it sounds like it means. Group one carcinogen and linked to all these cancers doesn't mean that any amount is going to give you cancer. This link is typically with really high amounts with occupational exposure with people who are working with benzene everyday. No safe level also doesn't mean any amount will give you cancer. It just means small amounts will add to risk. And that doesn't necessarily add up to cancer. It's similar to how there's no safe distance you can drive in a car because any extra inch you drive could be the one where you have an accident. Even with Valor's measurements, which were probably way too high, if you leave a bottle of benzyl peroxide in a really hot car in the sun, and then you get into the car without letting it air out at all and breathe that in for 78 years, you would still only have a 1 in7900 chance of getting cancer from that benzene.
