Yeah, I got a problem with uh don't know if we need a will or a trust. — Okay, — everybody tells us different. You know, — we have a house and we have a big property. We got a lot of stuff. So, how do we do this? — And Lou, how many children do you have? — Uh, two. Three. But one don't talk to us, so it's two. — And the two kids, are they adults? — Yes. Yes, they're in the 50s. Any any issues going on with them being spinth thrifts, alcohol, drug addiction issues? — No. No. — Are you going to include any of your grandchildren in your estate plan? — Well, we don't know. — Okay. — We don't know what to do. We look forward to being of service to you. — Oh, thank you very much. Bye. Robert, you may have the same experience with as me and that is people often come and say, "Oh, you know, my neighbor, my friend, my relation. " They said, "I need a trust. " And often people don't need a living trust for avoiding probate. — They absolutely do not. It's just a matter of doing everything that we instruct them to do to avoid probate. And I always use my example with my mom, right? I am her only child. I am her beneficiary. every single account on the beneficiary of including her IRA. There's a we have a lady bird deed on the home that will go to me and there's no reason for a trust. And I tell everybody, I said, "Look, I've done everything I'm supposed to do. I work here. I could have any trust in the world that I wanted, but I don't need it. So, I don't have to have it. " — So, folks, let me tell you some reasons why you might want to have a living trust. So, when by the way, when you hear people talking about trusts out there, they're all talking about the same thing, a revocable living trust. If you've got young kids, if you're a young couple with young kids, absolutely, a trust is for you. If you're older, but you want to include your grandkids and they're young, 10, 15, eight years old, you want a trust. If you own property in other states, like a vacation home in North Carolina, you want to have a trust. If your kids are spinthrifts or have alcohol or addiction issues and you can't simply hand your money over to them and just go down the drain, that would be a reason to have a living trust. Now, if you're sitting there saying, "Tom, I still I'm not clear. Do I need a trust? Do I not need a trust? " Easiest way to figure that out is to take us up on our free initial consultation at the Olsson Law Group. We will help you quickly figure out what are the best estate planning tools for you. And once we agree on an action plan with you, we're happy to quote you a flat fee. That's the way we work at the Olsson Law Group. Everything we do is on a flat fee basis.
