That should be better now. Yeah, no idea. Anyway, OBS decided to mute it on this one occasion. It's never done that before, but hey, we're here. So, let me know if you can hear me. Okay, cool. So, now that that's working, I'll just make sure that the actual song is playing as well. — [music and singing] — That's good. Okay, let's see. Right, sound is playing, too. Fantastic. So, we got it sorted. Thanks, guys. Um Yeah, OBS just muted me at the start. This is I said this every week, but this one is going to be absolutely crazy. Um for everyone new here, there is still going to be a chance for general community feedback. So, do upload a track uh using the link in the description. I definitely want to uh do some of that today. I'll show you what that looks like if you're new here. Uh let's find the right screen. So, this is one of our challengers, but there's also a general folder. Uh let me just move them out of the way. So, you can see there's a bunch of tracks we've already got 138 tracks submitted into here. So, you know, there's some of you are here all the time, like you. I see a bunch of you here that I uh recognize. So, upload your tracks into there, and we'll sort of pick a few at random during the stream to listen to, but this stream is lagging bad, is it? Let me see. Mhm. Some people are saying it's a little bit lagging. Anyway, we'll just see. It says it's good on my end. Let's see. No dropped frames as far as my system's concerned. So, I did want to say that while um I'll get Discord loaded up here actually to show you. Cuz while we're going to listen to all of the tracks today, we're also going to be doing the voting over on Discord. So, you can see the pinned message that I've pinned into the chat here and in the description. Uh over in Let me pull this up onto the screen. So, what you can see here is on Discord, I've got a channel called vote here. And this is what we're going to be using to uh vote for our favorite tracks that we listen to today. And you can also listen to all of the tracks here in your own time. So, obviously, I want to sort of hype up the artist during the stream, but this is a chance for us to uh like listen in our own time, especially if you can't attend the whole stream. And what I'm going to be asking for everybody is to pick your three favorite tracks that we listened to today. Um and just pick them based on, you know, obviously, which track you actually prefer the most, but also maybe which one you think was particularly creative, and which track you think really showed the most progress throughout the last 4 weeks uh that we've been running this competition. So, it's all over there on Discord. I'll go hide that and put that away cuz we don't really need it at the moment. Let's see. Let's just get the stream going cuz I can see already we lost a lot of viewers right at the start when the microphone wasn't working. So, we'll get into the uh challengers. Okay, I just got to like chill out. Unfortunately, right before the stream started, I had to restart my computer cuz all of my sound system settings were not working. Let's see this here. Chat. Cool. You don't see any of those tabs. Let's see. Right. Cool. Um So, the first one we're going to start with, we'll just go in just literally the order they are here. We'll start with Jericho White. And I'll play the latest version through in full, but then I'll also go maybe go back to week one so we can take a listen. Um yeah, but let's go into this view because I like it the most. Let's just settle in. I'll shut up and uh we'll enjoy the track. Let me know if it's too loud, too quiet, anything like that. — Back to the start. —

### [5:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=300s) Segment 2 (05:00 - 10:00)

— This has come so far. — I want to say so much, but I'm just going to let it play out. — [singing] — Who remembers this? — Wow. — This just all works. I mean, absolutely congratulations. This is just absolutely fantastic. I want to remind everyone that's more than 4 minutes, and the energy just kept going and going. That there's so much I want to say. We're not really doing, you know, feedback, so to speak, on these tracks because they are uh these are their final tracks, so to speak. So, I don't want to give them a whole bunch of and you know, make them doubt anything they've done. But something I really do want to to highlight um are like these drums here right from the start. These just they worked so well. The ambience on those, but still the punch was just like absolutely incredible. And uh obviously, you can listen to this in your own time. Let me just sort of double-check this. Obviously, you can listen to this in your own time over on the Discord before making your vote. Um but I am so impressed and so proud of how far you've developed this idea. If I just go back to the version one, um let's go here. — Like it's good.

### [10:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=600s) Segment 3 (10:00 - 15:00)

— Like it's still so good and I'm really really basically proud of them for just continuing to level it up cuz a lot of us would look at that track and go, "Ah, it's probably just about finished, you know, where can we really go from here? " But just seeing it get to that version four is just absolutely insane. Like I loved all of it. Let's just cut ahead here. — It's just so polished. — So polished. The vocals are sitting exactly where they're supposed to be. Uh and I love it so much. Another thing I wanted to say uh just for the people watching was a common a comment I got all the time either on their tracks or uh me and the 10 sort of challenges here. I'll show you. Let's jump right out to here. We sort of have a private chat on Discord and the thing that comes up over and over again are people thinking you know, that their track was finished on week two or three and then just being so amazed that they could just push it further and then also people who kind of thought that they were hitting the wall a bit. Like they're like, "Oh, is this even getting any better? " You know, they're wondering like, "Is this even getting any better? " And then um they look back to what they posted in week one or two and it just sort of reassures them that everything's going in the right direction. Sometimes day by day we don't notice the changes. Uh yeah. Sorry, I thought I heard like Solo barking or something threw me off a bit. So, congratulations. That was Jericho with his track weight. Um and that is like I said, it's in the Discord, pinned comment in the chat, pinned comment on YouTube. I'll just pull up the Discord again so you can see it. It's all In fact, look, it's the same people from the stream. You can go to vote here. And you can vote for your favorites. — [snorts] — Cool. I know I'm going to keep kind of mentioning that at the start because not everyone joins right at the first second, right? The next track we're going to listen to is Avenir. And uh plenty of train changes. Release ready master, full track mix down. It's past their listening tests and a little bit more flair. So, let's take a listen. I'm going to turn this up a little bit. — Wow. — That's so It's splendid. So much better. Wow. Every track. We're keeping them on. — You can tell I'm going to be pretty quiet this week. There's not really a lot to say. Con- Just so good. — Just enough repetition as well. So nice.

### [15:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=900s) Segment 4 (15:00 - 20:00)

— Yeah, that bass is fixed now. It's a lot more like chunky and crunchy. The kick and bass are so much better here. The bass stand on their own. It's perfect. They were like stepping on each other before and now they're just like supporting. — You're making this so difficult for everyone to vote. Like what? We've only listened to two and I already have two favorites. This is just absolutely ridiculous. Like what I have so much to say about this and you've really resolved the kick and bass issues we were talking about earlier. The mix is really nice. The vocals are really prominent. Um they're bright and airy which um obviously for like some styles of mixing that's not going to work, but for this it works really well. Um what I just noticed from start to finish was that it didn't sound like, "Oh, a layer has just been added. A layer has been taken away. Oh, I can hear that filter sweep. I can hear it. " You know what I mean? It doesn't really sound like, "Oh, there's four bars of this and eight four bars of this. " It's all just It all just meshes and melts and you know, the vocal stutters like they start really prominent and then they just sort of melt away into the track. There's this section here where the percussion uh began. I really wanted to show this. Let me find it. — You know, it's a combination of adjusting the reverb and obviously filtering it, but when you're not listening in for it and you're just listening to the track, it sounds like the percussion just comes from like a hundred miles away and it's just slowly filtering up and then all of a sudden it's here. You don't you're not noticing things so My phone's gone off. just, you know, being added and taken away and I thought it was so um impressive. So, yeah, this is uh Avenir. I'll put that in the chat. Um and this song is called Paradise. So good. Um I have to show you week one or version one from four weeks ago. Um just to just for the comparison. I'll do this to everybody. So, the core idea was there, of course. Just sort of bare-bones. You know, it it's it's in that state where it's like 16 bars of this, 16 bars of that and that's fine. It's very sort of on off. And we knew we had to work through all that stuff. And it was simple, you know? — But because he showed up week after week, we end up with something that's just extraordinary. Absolutely extraordinary. — It works. Everything works. I'm going to skip ahead again. — Like the way those vocal stutters begin is extraordinary. Some of you will remember in weeks two and three, we were all sort of struggling bouncing back and forth going, "Hmm, how do we make those vocal stutters smoother? " And he's done it. Absolutely. I think my favorite comment someone said like the track was so clean you could eat off it. And I'm like, "Yeah. " That's exactly it. Um Yeah, let's see this. Yeah. Cool. We got a few more of these to listen to um then we'll do some of the community feedback. Let me just go out into this view. Avenir, fantastic work. And also, I want

### [20:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=1200s) Segment 5 (20:00 - 25:00)

to say in the last week Avenir ran into so many technical issues with their DAW and computer, so many rendering glitches and we were all sort of in the channel all just pulling our hair out wondering like what is going on. So, he had all these little issues with clicks, pops, distortions. Um like you know, just you know when you put in hours and hours on the DAW and you make no progress cuz you're just fixing technical glitches. So, he persevered and got this thing finished despite all those challenges. So, I do want to say it hasn't just been smooth for all of these folks as well. So, uh good job. Okay. The next one again, one of my favorites, Leyland will go for free. So, this is another track. Um and if anyone's new here in the chat, if everyone else can just sort of like fill them in on what's going on and what we've been doing in the last couple of weeks, that'd be really cool. Um you see look and we're all supporting each other, so um there's Shay with a giving us some comments. Shay, sorry. I the worst name pronouncer in the world. So, what have we got? Yeah, just like finishing touches really. And uh yeah, the thing is people started this challenge thinking like I don't know, maybe I'll have an idea, maybe I'll figure something out. And now they've got like a track that they want to publish, which is just so incredible. Uh let's get this thing started. Uh go to this view. I'm going to take these off for like a minute. — They'll be going back on in a minute. — So good. — Wow. I don't remember being this complicated last week. — A break. So good. — The violin just has so much more personality as well. — Remember that you're voting for your top three tracks. — I'm so glad you didn't do the fake out twice. Really good. Really good. —

### [25:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=1500s) Segment 6 (25:00 - 30:00)

— So, what are we supposed to do with that, dude? That was absolutely extraordinary. There's a few highlights I want to show, but I really wanted to just talk about again how smooth everything just pushes and pulls in the track. The fake out, of course, extraordinary. — So good. Absolutely got me. You completely got me with that. So, congratulations. And on this section here, I'm glad you didn't do the fake out again. Uh but I did want to show um what was it I wanted to listen to? Just the intricacy and the complexity and the synth I think it's a synth kind of mid bass layer that or maybe it's a layer. — Just hear it. I love the way that is almost like a call and answer with itself. It's really really intricate and it's the sort of thing that makes electronic music so special when you do little runs and add some flare like that. That just has so much of your own personality. I'm assuming you performed that section, but even if you found it in a loop or something, it's still amazing that you chose to put it there. That's the sort of stuff where, you know, the people that just hate electronic music and they think like oh, there's no personality, there's no soul, there's no spirit, like they just don't understand stuff like that. Like um that is just as talented as picking up like a real instrument and playing it. Just so good. Um wow. I want to take a quick listen to the start again. — Cuz this just sounds so full and amazing, but you still save something for the end. It's got that sort of like thanks for listening. Again, it's almost 4 minutes long. It's a long song uh by today's standards. As always, I have to show you week one just to show you to remind you again sort of where it started. I remember we had some issues with the vocal mix. Still super cool. — I mean, it's super cool. The bounce, the groove, everything was there. Like the I don't know what to say, like definitely more than just the bones were there on the first week, but what you've transformed it into is extraordinary. I'm going to keep saying this for every single track. Um yeah, Zapster says it best, the bass has so much more personality now. That's exactly what it is and this is what I'm saying week after week in these streams. Tracks, some of them just have personality and don't and I don't know how to put how always to describe or put my finger on it. But that's what it is. Some of the tracks you just listen to them and you go Come on, let's hear it. — It's just got it. Congratulations, mate. This is absolutely fantastic. Um I just showed you the first week, Craig, unless you just missed it, but it was like it still sounded like this. It had bounce, but it just wasn't as complicated and intricate. What I think we've noticed from the last couple of tracks here. And then this, by the way, just for everyone, cuz you can't see it. This is Leyland free when it comes to voting. Congratulations, fantastic track. Um all of the tracks so far have massively ramped up the intricacy and have made them massively more complicated, but not in a way that is unfollowable, just like random ear candy. Like everything that these three have added so far is just like the good sort of complexity. Um incredible. Right, Juvincy. I think some of these I was going to say, where do we get chill? This one's a little bit chill. more chill. Um [clears throat] but yeah, Juvincy's going to be intense again. Um they're a very high energy producer. And the shades are going to get no break in this stream. Um, yeah, that's it, Simon. Like nothing feels overproduced after 4 weeks. Um, so yeah, let's see what we've got. They didn't add that much extra, they've said. Some laser bass layers, some extra

### [30:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=1800s) Segment 7 (30:00 - 35:00)

synths. Um, yeah. And they've said the pressure from the competition definitely had them thinking about adding more and more to raise the bar, but they feel like they've already added enough and adding more would ruin the mix. So, we've got quite a lot of good taste here to know when to stop. Um, and that's a question we get a lot of play this in just a second, you know, how do you know when to stop adding stuff to a track? That's complicated, but for me it usually comes down to like taking a bit of a break from the track and then coming back and just trying to remind yourself what's actually important about the song you're working on. But yeah, let's take a good listen. This is Jvincy and it's just called uh drum and bass on the Discord, you'll see it. — Oh, I remember this one. — I always appreciated that this one takes its time a bit. — I love this bass so much, you've no idea. — Extraordinary. — Can't read that out. — Yeah, definitely gives Prodigy vibes in a good way. Wow. While listening, I was just sorting out a few kind of uh things on the Discord and whatnot, so I wanted to remind people uh this is all this audio is compressed by the stream, of course, but the high quality files are available on Discord for you to listen to yourself. A lot of the details are going to be gone. Uh YouTube live streaming is like 256 kilobits per second or something. Um, is that kilobits or kilobytes? I can't remember. Um, but it's low quality.

### [35:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=2100s) Segment 8 (35:00 - 40:00)

It's like MP3 or whatever, it's compressed. Um, whereas the full files might be, say, 1,000 to 5,000 kilobits per second or something, um, equivalent bit rate. So, if you want to hear it in full quality and well, you've got to go over onto the Discord. I wanted to I should have said right at the start, of course, but I wanted to get into it. The reason we're using Discord for the voting is that it can't be gamed. You'd have to create a bunch of Discord accounts and then we'd be able to know because we have really great detection for that sort of thing. Whereas if I do the voting on YouTube or on Boombox or anywhere else, it's going to be easy for, you know, for people to mess up the votes. Um, cuz I trust all of the competitors, actually, but there's always it only takes one crazy person in a million subscribers and they ruin the whole thing for everybody, okay? Dude, Jvincy. Previous challenge winner for a reason. Um, and I knew when I selected you for this challenge that you would really, really raise the bar. Like I know you've said in your notes that, you know, you were worried that you had to raise the bar more cuz of other people, but no, no, you've added exactly enough stuff. Um, this whole section, it just sounds like some kind of like spaceship starting up or like you're in some kind of like I don't know, some kind of chase through hyperspace or something and you're like firing up cannons and you're, you know, engaging like the spin drives and whatever. Like it sounds absolutely nuts. It sounds otherworldly, but in a good way. But it also sounds like a track that is simple enough that you could just, you know, throw it on your headphones and go for a run or go for a cycle. Uh it's not it's a kind of track where just casually listening to it, you get everything out of it, but then if you want to really sit and listen to it, you get all the depth, width, all of those extra layers and you hear all the intricate stuff you've done to make it amazing. So, really, really good stuff. Um, hyperspace chase. Yeah, that's going to be the track That's the track title given that it's only called drum and bass at the moment. Really, really good. And I'll have to check with the contestants. I've put all the files on Discord, so obviously if you wanted to, you could save them or like rip them off there, but obviously don't do anything with the files, just for your personal listening, right? Cuz all of these tracks are going to be released, probably, or, you know, saved by these uh contestants. So, that was Jvincy, drum and bass. And just a reminder, I'm so sorry, just for all the new people that are showing up, let me open this up here. All of the voting's going to happen over on Discord, uh which is this app. And there's an invite code in the description and in the chat. We have, I think, 27,000 members on Discord. There's usually a couple of thousand people active all the time. This is a safe community. We we've had this thing up and running since the early days of Discord, you know, probably like 7 years or something like that. Maybe even longer. Um, we know what we're doing over here, okay? So, if I go to uh this channel, you can vote for your favorites. You pick three. Uh choosing your three favorites and what nots and you can listen to all the tracks here and uh yeah, that'll be that. So, Jvincy, fantastic work. Really, really enjoyed that. Oh, wait. We should We have to go listen to week one, don't we? Don't want to skip over that. Just give us a second, right? I'll just uh Um, I'm going to have to 1 second. I've got to I've had a few I'm not very good with the permissions on Discord sometimes. I have a team that kind of keeps me right, so I'm just checking that I set things up. Um, set things up right. Let's go back to week one. I am a little uh all over the place here. So, it'd only be fair to show where this track started. Uh here we go. Which again, amazing that we can use this uh Boombox for this. It still had a good balance and rhythm, lots of synths. — Had all that ambience. So, just the three chords. — Exactly, Dodo. Exactly. So, really, really nice. I was so happy when you added the vocals into this. I think the vocals got added in week two. And you've added this four chords now. So, that's three. I mean, it's really good. It was pretty good by version two, to be honest, but then we got the full thing in version four, so good job. Really good stuff. And yeah, it was so good I literally forgot to go back and listen to the first week's version.

### [40:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=2400s) Segment 9 (40:00 - 45:00)

Okay. I can see you in the chat as well. I'm just letting you know that I see you there. We'll listen to that one later, okay? Uh so, we've got Emil Terra. This is the next track. Kind of fine. Um Uh this is going to be more chill. Cool. I'm excited to hear this. I love that guitar in the back. — Love the way the layers match together. Everything underneath in the bass and mids is just really chill. I think if I remember right, there's like a nice uh sort of pulse rhythm that comes in a second. Love it. — I love all the bends and like uh in flare and just inflections. So nice. — It still had a lot of bounce, which I like. — I miss that sort of like sort of guitar. Or is it like a distorted uh Could be distorted keys. — Nice. Really nice resolution. Really sweet. And some birds. So, I said it in the chat, but this is one of those tracks that really shows like a huge musical range. It sound I mean, it's a journey going from start to finish, for sure, but it almost sounds like you've sort of carefully woven together sort of two or three different parts of songs, but it all obviously it all still ties in really nicely, but it just shows that journey. It's like you've gone through some different uh landscapes, not just soundscapes, but it really feels like you've gone through different parts of a video game or whatnot. So, as everyone's saying, it's

### [45:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=2700s) Segment 10 (45:00 - 50:00)

really sweet. Yeah, so Craig is like it's like I'm traveling through different scenes on a journey. Exactly. Really special and it reminds us what you can do with music. It doesn't have to exist to just be like, "We need a vocal on this. It needs to be, you know, it needs to be pop. rock. It needs to be whatever. " This is just its own thing and I I'm not just saying that to be um I'm not trying to be like cringe or anything. I really like that. Like good job. Um Yeah, exactly. So different from the other tracks. So, I may have put the wrong one into Discord. I need to check that. I may have put this old one in. Emil, you can let me know if I put the wrong track in cuz I uploaded them like an hour half an hour before the stream. Um Let's go back to where it started or near where it started at least. A week in. — The layers are a little more separate. — The bass it goes dun dun or is it just like a mid bass? Like I can't really tell. I love that you've pulled that to the front instead of tucking it away behind. — So, you can tell this is what I was saying like earlier on, you were one of the contestants that just like really sort of threw everything out there and sort of saw what landed and then you've sort of almost reined everything in, but in a really nice way cuz this we've got lots of things sort of sticking out all over the place. Obviously, it's not as mixed and then by the time we get to the final it's all very well woven together. I think I said woven. Like that's how it feels. All the sounds feel nice and gelled, but you've still got lots of separation between the sounds at the same time. It's so weird describing this, but everybody heard it. So, yeah. Emil Terra. Really good. Uh really good track. Loved it. Loved it from start to finish. And kind of down to the wire, mate, as well. Um Emil was uh one of the contestants who was you know, kind of planning I think planning to take a little bit of a break from music before we did the competition, so I think it came at a bad time for them. They were about to take like a little bit of a gap. Um and we kind of just forced them into doing something and I'm really proud of what you've done. Um Zara, let's take a listen to your track now. Nice. So, what have they done? Oh, yeah, this is the one in F Lydian, so it's really interesting. Um I'm just reading through some of the notes. Cool. Listening's the best way, in my opinion. Might have to turn this up a touch. I think it's going to get loud in a second. — The bass sounds a lot more pro, in my opinion. — And the drums sound a lot more like textural, but that might just be me imagining it. The drums have a little bit more snap. — Love all the weird stuff. — [bell] [bell]

### [50:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=3000s) Segment 11 (50:00 - 55:00)

— This got really interesting. — I love that you're pulling it all back in at the end. — Really nice. This is one of those tracks where you set the foundation in the first half, so it's not too confusing. And then you really, really push it in the second half, and obviously I you know, I let the chat you asked and read through all of this stuff. Um, and if you want to, you can pause and go back. Um, but at the end of the day, we can hear it, so don't worry. Like, it's good that you, you know, you sort of describe maybe what we should be listening for, maybe what we could listen for, and what nots. But don't worry, cuz we all just listen and we hear it, and it's really, really epic. Um, again, this was one of the tracks, and this is unfortunately there's a few of them. But one of the tracks that was like clearly the most unique. Um, and I hate when people say like, oh, interesting and unique and original. Like, I mean these as positive words. I know a lot of people say those, you know, when they just like, oh, I don't like the track, but I'm going to call it unique. That's not me. I'm not like that. Um, this is a really, really good track. Um, this bit here challenges the lis- listener in a positive way. It makes you um, throw away some of the sort of norms of what you might be expecting. The different sort of suspensions and the different resolutions in both the chords and the timing was really, really exciting and interesting. And uh, this is exactly why I chose you for this challenge. I knew that you'd uh, throw something at us that was going to be really — [snorts] — really fun. Now, uh, it started off with a lot of the same concepts, but obviously the complexity is not there. So, this is where we started. So, we have that. It's all there. And you know, it was okay, just like some kind of placeholder drums. We'll fill it in later. Um, so you can really hear where 4 weeks of well, it's technically only 3 and a bit weeks, but you can hear where like a month of just focus on the one track um, and having the deadline of specifically what was powerful about this is that they had a deadline every single week. They simply had to submit something to me by Tuesday evening UK time. They didn't have a choice in the matter. They couldn't just sit on it for 3 weeks and not do something, otherwise they'd be kicked out of the contest. Um, and I and they didn't know that, but that was just what it was going to be. So, I didn't have to threaten them or anything, and they uh, they all showed up and did a really, really good job. Um, you know, I'm not going to be all like cliche and talk about like productivity and stuff right now, but it is important that you set deadlines for yourself. When I was growing the I don't actually even talk about this, although I should. Um, not maybe with you guys, but when I was growing my YouTube channel, and I only started YouTube for fun and just to share things that I had maybe learned that month, that week, that year. Um, but I set myself uh, just targets of consistency. Like, I had to post something every Saturday, or Tuesday and every

### [55:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=3300s) Segment 12 (55:00 - 60:00)

post something every Tuesday and every Saturday. Um, and I just the year that I said, yep, I have to have a video every for 52 weeks in a row. That was the year where the channel grew like 3, 400,000 subscribers in 1 year. And you know, it is important to kind of keep showing up for stuff like that. I am a procrastinator. I think almost all of us are. Um, and it's important that we just actually get the stuff done. All of these tracks are so good, and you can see it's not by accident. It's cuz they all showed up every single week. And uh, and got it done. Let me see. So, I'm going to recorded some guitar, uh, added stuff. Um, it's weird talking about YouTube, cuz a lot of creators get to a size on the platform where they that most of their content then becomes about growing on a platform. And that's always felt a bit weird to me, cuz it's like I'd rather just sort of focus on what I'm doing instead of talking about or trying to convince people of how to grow on a platform or something like that. But that's kind of another discussion. Um, for another day, I guess. But yeah, Pyroaxe, this track is called uh, feels like flying. Although it's not there in the title. It's just here. No, flying feels like, sorry. And again, it's on Discord in full quality. This is going to be one of the ones you want to listen to in full quality. Um, right. Let's go to this view. — Our vocal mix is so much better. — This is too much, Pyro. — I'm so glad. Like, — so intricate as well. I don't remember this section. — Love that filter. Such a nice fade out as well. Dude, this is so problematically so

### [1:00:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=3600s) Segment 13 (60:00 - 65:00)

Dude, this is so problematically good this track. I really enjoyed that. Uh start to finish. Uh yeah, I loved all the new guitar sections you added. Really really good stuff. I don't even know what to say. Um Let's see this. I just want to see the chat. What did I miss? Everybody's so impressed with it. Like I remember man, so many years ago I first heard your music. I was like, "Yeah, this guy's going to be a problem. " This is so good. Um I think they're here in the chat. I think they're at work. Absolutely insane. Um I do have to show you version one. Let's see this. And this had the piano that sort of blends into a synth. — I agree low. It's really nice. — Like it's really good that you can hear this. This is it on week one. And I only gave them a day or two to put this together. — But you can hear it's like a sketch. And then it just builds up week after week. And we get to this sort of thing. A little bit more added in. — And then, you know, let's just get to the final. — And this is something that I just want to show you. And I hate You can just tell me if I sound like really cheesy or cringey or cliche, but this is what I'm trying to show all of you and to remind myself is that like it's okay to have drafts and sketches and first versions of things. Like when [snorts] I just to relate it to some things I'm doing. You know, if I'm making a video or filming some test shots or whatever. Or even when I was getting into live streaming. Like go back to my first couple of live streams or the first 10 live streams that we did in this format. They look terrible. The lighting's awful. I sound bad. There's not all this cool stuff on the screen. Like it take It's okay to just have drafts and kind of figure things out as you go. Whereas a lot of us would produce the week one version of this and we just think, you know, this isn't finished yet. This is never going to be finished. I give up on this. But if you just keep showing up, it really does work. Yeah, I completely agree. Really good stuff. I'm not allowed to have favorites, but dude, that is such a good track. Um I'm personally going to go listen to that over on the Discord. Um so you can get it in full quality. And just to try and enjoy it because this the vocal layers, what you've done not just with the vocoder, but all the layers as those stabs on the choruses just absolutely insane. And you say that like you know you want to improve the mix a bit. I don't know what the chat would think, but I wouldn't stress too much on the mix. Maybe just smoothing things out here or there, but it really sounded punchy. It sounded good. Um Yeah, I'll get to this point in the chat as well in a second. Uh cool. So the next track is going to be Desert. So this crazy. Uh but just before we do, I want to answer this some questions here cuz someone said no video in 3 months. Yeah, it's bad. Um I've been focusing on making some like shorter videos. Uh so I've been posting short form stuff on Instagram and YouTube and what nots. Uh but um yeah, it's been really hard to make YouTube videos recently because I've just been working uh flat out on my new plugin. It's almost ready. Um I'm just going into beta testing this week. Um all of the contestants here, all 10 of them are going to get a copy of my uh new plugin uh for free just for participating. They don't know that, but they know it now. Um yeah, and I've just had my head down testing that. Building it. It's really It's a really fun plugin. It's something totally new. Um and yeah, it just as a result I haven't been making the YouTube videos as much cuz I've made, you know, almost 300 YouTube videos just for this channel and I've made hundreds more for other channels. And um I didn't feel that in the last month or two there was anything I could really say in a long YouTube channel. I don't want to get negative here, but recently on YouTube from the music production channels and mixing channels, there's just been almost nothing but just clickbait and people just sort of reinventing the wheel. You know, they're kind of making up problems to then fix in these

### [1:05:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=3900s) Segment 14 (65:00 - 70:00)

videos. And that's just not my style. So I'll make YouTube videos when I really have something to say, but I definitely don't want to waste everyone's time every week just kind of churning out garbage. Um but I meant to make a video update about my plugin on my last plugin bandwidth. And I meant to make a video about some like EQ tricks for FabFilter. Um some like more hidden features and stuff. So I could do that quickly. But in a couple of weeks time there's going to be a huge video on my channel that I've been working on for a while. Um it's not for the plugin. It's for something totally different. And that's going to be a lot of fun. A lot of fun, but I can't share anything about it cuz I can't not allowed to. Um But yeah, there's going to be something really big uh on the channel soon. Um Let me see this. Let me see this here. Yeah, I think people are saying like Don't worry, we're going to get to Desert in a second. Yeah, it's just that like I don't Yeah, I Maybe I do want to be negative. I don't know. I don't want to be super negative, but like if you look around all the channels, you know, in the same kind of space as me with fewer or more subscribers, um there's only a few that are still putting out stuff that's fresh. Most people are just they're just making up drama and stuff. And we don't need much of that. So anyway, Desert hard reset. The only MP3 that was submitted. So maybe it'll be a little swirly in the top end, but other than that it's going to be good. So they added vocals. Completely reworked the breakdown. Excited to hear that. Changed the melody. And added some new synths. So Although this is the final week, I've told them all, you know, obviously you can just keep working and moving forward, but yeah, uh there's some lyrics here. Cool. Let's take a listen. — Oh, the vocal mix is so much better. — I love that lead. — Oh, this is so good. — Yeah, this is so much better. — We have some cultured individuals here.

### [1:10:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=4200s) Segment 15 (70:00 - 75:00)

— This uh this is so much fun. — Oh, all of you are so problematic. This is what track seven and we all now have seven favorites. Yeah, I was just saying there was something about it. Something about the synths and the ambience and the punchiness. It reminded me of uh playing Unreal Tournament but like I can't remember which version it was but it was like it would have been a really old version like early 2000s playing it when I was a kid. There's something about it. It just sounded so like just like techno euro just perfect. Like I really enjoyed this. Um the vocal mixing right from the start was so much more professional. Um I know you say you've got a few tweaks that you want to make. We obviously we can't hear them. I thought changing up the melody and the lead was really fresh. I'm certainly really glad that you did. Uh we'll take a listen to the first version of this track. Still good. I think it was Unreal Tournament 1999 as well. I'm going to go find that. I'm just going to play ahead to this section now. — Yeah. It was 1999. I just had to go check. I looked at some of the maps. It was Unreal Tournament 1999. So I think I was playing it must have been like an old disc being played in a computer cuz I wasn't playing it in 1999. I would only have been like 3 years old. — Um so I was I must have been playing that in like I don't know 20 I don't 2000 I don't know five maybe 2010 I don't know 2009 or something like that but anyway. Yeah. Let's listen so anyway you can hear sort of where this started. Great track still. But no vocals of course and then I wanted to show uh the start of the vocals. It was 98 was it? So like great the vocals are good but they're obviously not as polished as they are here. Let's skip ahead a bit. — Yeah, so good really good. Yeah, I can tell for sure. Even just from reading the chat I can see people's favorites. So I think every single track so far has at least been someone's favorite but Dezat over the last year of these live streams I've often just pulled up your music just for fun as well cuz it's always so good. And what I've noticed over the past year I'll take the shades off cuz I want to be a bit serious. Over the last year I've really seen you sort of come out of your shell a little bit of as a musician and a producer. Adding your own vocals to this. I don't think you had your own vocals on it when we first started listening to you I might be wrong. But your tracks sound like they just have so much more personality. Like we were talking about earlier in the stream. Uh they're I don't know what it is. There's like soul there's life there's something in there that is like you and it takes it from just being a really good club banger to like your really good club banger. I don't know if that makes any sense at all. Maybe that just sounds stupid and I'll watch this back and go what am I talking about but I know what I mean and I hope it comes across on camera as well. I've really seen uh you progress. Um technically you were already really good a year ago. So I there's definitely been a technical progression but there's been this energy progression where you've really made the tracks uh like just so much more personality in them. Um yeah. It's not it doesn't the words don't always come out but guys you should all try live streaming like you just like you forget how to even speak. It's ridiculous. This track's going to be so much fun. This is a favorite of the community as well. Um So yeah that last track was Dezat Hard Reset. This is um Share Bryant and Ashish useless. Um yeah so this is their track and just a reminder for when you want to vote. Um it's all over on Discord. I've pinned the link. Um oh no not the admin chat whoopsies. Um Nope. Oh goodness gracious. Right it's all here right? All in vote here. Um you can see what we've got here. So

### [1:15:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=4500s) Segment 16 (75:00 - 80:00)

you pick your three favorites. There's probably some votes There's already some votes come in cuz you can listen to all of the tracks here in your own time. Let me see what we just had there one second. Um Yeah nothing bad. Good good. Right let's take a listen to this and enjoy it. I'm going to keep some of there lots of changes here. Violin solo percussive stuff. So yeah it's all really come together in this last week. Um cool. — And also they're at an event at the moment so they're not here in the chat. So definitely give them some feedback so they can watch later. — Great. — This is so much better. So I mean other than the start which just feels a lot more professional this section here it feels both much more supported and more constrained. So I'll just show you where it started because this is it's really come a very long way. So it started just with the choir voices and then the plucks and the harp and violin comes in later. So it just started with this. Very nice voicing. But simple. — And then, I know I've shown this before, but the violin comes in. So, it's all simple, you know? And then, by the end, it starts getting a little bit grand. — So, I wanted to show you week two, I think, because this is where this section here starts getting a little bit grand, a little bit out of control, maybe. Maybe it was in week three. —

### [1:20:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=4800s) Segment 17 (80:00 - 85:00)

— No, I think it was week three. Sorry, guys. Um and I think you've really pulled it in well for this final week. — Yeah, I wasn't so sure about the panning, whereas for this final one, it just sounds really, really finished, I guess. Really good. — Yeah, it's like it's a little more constrained, but in the most positive way. Like, this is really, really good. Um And they have said, just to prove it to you as well, "I listened back to the previous weeks, and yeah, wow, it shocked me. Especially if I compare week one to now, like, that's insane. " And this is what I was saying, like, you know, none of us thought the week one tracks were finished by any means, but when you make a little account of where it started and where it is now, it's made me think about my own process with other um creative stuff. Like, with the plugins, I'm saving everything from week one, week two, week three. All of my initial renders for the user interfaces, all of the initial sort of code and sound and everything. I'm just saving it, so that when I'm three week three months into the project, I can and I'm just like, ah, this interface needs a little more, I can look back to where the interface started and go, wow, this like this is really, really good, actually. Um Yeah, I think it's really powerful to when we're just working on like a track inside a DAW, you don't really see the progress. You just see what you're currently working on. So, I would say, if you're watching, like, as you're working, just bounce out a version when you're finished in a day. Just put it on the hard drive. Give it the date and the title of the song, and then, two weeks later, when you're pulling your hair out, just go back and listen to where it started, and you'll probably be really, really proud of yourself. Um Let's see this. I mean, I personally save zipped folders of like everything I'm working on FL or on WaveLab. Um Cuz I love opening stuff years later. Even some of my first tracks, I still have like all the stems for. And certainly all of the albums and tracks I've worked on, I have all the stems, and different versions of the song, with and without effects. So, I don't even need the same plugins, cuz I have the stems. Like, do it, you'll be glad of it. Um This was really, really great track. Um This will be one that you'll enjoy listening to in full quality on Discord. And what do we have here? We've got Have we really been going for like an almost an hour and a half? That is crazy. Well, I'm not allowed to have favorites, so I won't say saved the best till last, but we're pretty much saving the best till last. Um you've been in the chat this whole time. Um Ah, thank you. Solo's good. He is. I wish I could move the camera. He's asleep. He's right here. Um Maybe I'll wake him up here, but we can read this. Um And I'll just get playing the track, and then I'll change to full screen mode, I think. But, let's just take a listen first, cuz can't go wrong with that. — That bass is huge. Like, brilliant. —

### [1:25:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=5100s) Segment 18 (85:00 - 90:00)

— Crazy. The thing I like most about this track, probably, it's hard to know. Oh, Solo's decided to wake up just in time. Oh, he's so tired. I took him for a run for the first time in a long time today. Anyway, I wanted to show you this bit. It's um I think it's when the beat really kicks in. — I just love how the bass completely has its own spot. And to me, personally, uh it's completely unexpected the first time it kicks in. I'm like, oh, it's one of those tracks. Good, cuz it was just building, building up to that point. — Especially if you don't see the waveform, and you just listen to the track, you're like, this is it. — I mean, those vocals they just sound so modern and professional. I mean, there's such a range of loudness for vocals, so like some people might want the vocals to be like a touch quieter or a touch louder, but they're just that sound sort of like almost slightly metallic sound on them is so, so good. Um Yeah, exactly. Main character energy, for sure. Um yeah, I'm just going to keep listening to this. I like it. So good. earlier versions of this track. — Oh, wait. No, this was one where we I think you we swapped to a different track, I think. I can't remember. Yeah, we swapped to a different track for this one. Um Different people had different ideas throughout, so some of us kind of switched to different versions. So, it just doesn't have all the tension yet, but the idea is there. — And the bounce is there, but the mix isn't quite there yet. I mean, it sounds amazing. I wouldn't complain about this mix at all, to be honest, but by the time we get to here, it's just absolutely off the chain, like — I love how the track is such like a smiley face. It's like uh this. So, it's like loads of bass, loads of nice treble. It's like this. I love it so much. It's just right for this sort of song. Um He said someone wanted more sub bass, so I obliged, pushed it till it distorted, then I pulled it back. Honestly, I think it's working. I'll have to What I'll have to do is, these headphones are great, but they're not always the biggest or most faithful with the sub bass. So I might honestly I like listening on These are good bass check for me. I just use these uh sports headphones. I just put them on um when I'm like running or cycling and that's quite a good bass check actually cuz if the bass is bad they'll just completely distort and you know, be terrible in those, but also I'll just fire up the speakers and listen, but I don't think it's going to be a problem. — It's a lot of bass, but it's good.

### [1:30:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=5400s) Segment 19 (90:00 - 95:00)

I love all the stuttering and glitching as well. This really good. Um Let's see what we've got. Yeah, if we've got another competition I think probably Dodo probably Zap um maybe Paul A. There's a few people that I'd like to pick for the next competition for sure. Especially people that have been here all the time. Alex to be honest probably have you in the next contest as well if you've got time. Um Simon you'd be great for the competition next time actually cuz you you'd be a completely fresh sound there as well. Um I think you'd give us something that is uh like not just maybe so electronic who knows. But yeah, um you know I pick people that are like in the streams regularly. Okay, so what do I have to do now? I will listen to a few tracks in the community. We still got time. But um I do have to do a tiny spiel just to say we did listen to everybody before I just read this all out. We did get through all those people. Good. I want to say thank you so much. Huge thank you to all of these um contestants and competitors for taking part. All of them have had nothing but class and respect for each other. They've all I think almost everyone has been giving each other feedback, ways to improve. We have a chat in Discord. Everybody's been so friendly. Everybody has submitted tracks on time every single week and uh the whole thing's just run so smoothly because of their efforts. So I do want uh to say a huge thank you and I hope everyone else in the chat um consider join me with that. You've all made the last 4 weeks of streams uh just so much fun. Uh so engaging, so much good music to listen to. I found tracks that you know I I've literally downloaded them onto my computer. I'm going to put them on my phone. I'm taking these tracks out when I'm going running, cycling, listen to them in the car. Um these are some of my new favorite tracks this month for sure. So thank you so much. Um There are prizes up for grabs. Like I said, I've got some studio equipment. There's also a an $100 cash prize, but I'm I've given away some studio equipment as well. Um But yeah, really I feel like all the winners without sounding like completely cheesy, all the winners really feels like me and you guys um for getting to actually listen to all of this, see them develop and be inspired by this because seeing where they've taken their tracks to each week from the start of the month to the end of the month, it's been very inspiring for me not just musically, but in like other areas cuz it reminds you of what you can do if you just show up and sort of put your mind to it. So I want to say a big round of applause I guess to all of these people um for taking part and being up for this. Thank you so much. Um but now we will the only other thing of course that I have to show this time I'm not going to show the admin chat. Um I do have to quickly say use the link in the that I pinned to the chat and in the description of this video. If you're not on Discord, join. Going to show this on screen. This is where you can vote. So once you're checked in, you've agreed to our rules just go to vote here on the community panel. Voting closes it says when it closes. Choose three of your favorite tracks. Which is your favorite? Which do you think is most creative? Who do you think showed the most progress? Just pick your three favorite tracks. Go 1 2 3, hit vote. Um 20 votes so far. There'll be more votes soon. And you can listen to all of the tracks in your own time. And this works a lot better on mobile. It looks silly on computer, but on mobile this these have really nice players. You can just listen to all of these in your own time and pick your favorites, okay? Uh I do It's important that I say that because some of you will be joining and thinking where's the voting going to take place? Okay. Um Nice. Let's get to listening to some of your tracks now instead. So we've done we're done with this VIP development program. After the voting's done it's not going to be in May because I've got too much on and I'm going away on a trip. Uh we'll try to bring this back in June, July at the very latest. June is when I'm hoping to launch my next plugin. It's almost finished, but I need to spend a month like making content for it and stuff. Um So June maybe I'll launch the plugin and do another round of these streams or something, but yeah, let's go over to all of these tracks instead. If I just refresh the page. Um so these are the tracks that you have all submitted. We've got a bunch. I see I might play this one if Happy Camper is still here. Um but yeah, I'll play something from Who is it that I was going to play? Diego, let's put yours on first cuz you've been here for a couple of weeks and we didn't play you last week, okay? Um I'll queue up a couple of tracks. Uh we'll play this one first and you'll see how this works. I have a queue. Um — Right, so we'll listen to this while I get some tracks queued up, okay? Um

### [1:35:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=5700s) Segment 20 (95:00 - 100:00)

Let's play Igor so is war work in progress? — Is Kidder here? I'll add you to the queue. — So KMO I said I would play yours space final. Sweet. See you See I'm building up a queue of tracks. — This is really nice. But that's enough for now. I'm going to pick a few more. — Um Uh Dodo we haven't played you in many weeks. — Paul A let's play yours as well. — It's been a many weeks since we played yours. — [music and singing] — So I'll just get through these first and then I'll pick some more tracks, all right? — Wave form I agree and then we got all the bass. — So we can still see the queue here. I've got one from Igor. I've got Kidder if they're here. I think they're here. If they're not I might play another one. We have space final, one from Dodo and then one from Paul A, quantum flux. So I'll close that down. — So really nice. In terms of finishing touches, what could we change to this to make it you know a little bit more release ready? Sounded I mean I've got to admit I wasn't actively listening. I was just you know obviously just enjoying it while I was picking tracks and it sounded fine. Nothing stuck out as like this is a problem. Um it sounded groovy. Uh maybe Let's see this. — Yeah, it was plenty exciting in these sections. — I love the stereo delays. Honestly what I'm thinking about now I should be a little bit more verbal like I'm thinking is there too much bass? mid-range treble? Does it feel wide? Does it feel narrow? It feels really good to me. Like I really don't think we have any problems here. Um Low is saying it felt a little bit too safe. That may That is the only thing I could say is that yeah, it does it doesn't sound like it's like reaching to do anything completely crazy, but it does it is quite nice. It is uh I'm not going to say chill. Um — Like it's what I'd say is like maybe like a little bit predictable, but that's not to say it's not creative. It's just it's a it's like a good track to throw on maybe when you're driving, maybe when you're in the gym, maybe you're doing some weights or something and you just want high energy, good bass, good groove, uh but you don't want anything to really like no crazy bridge section that just you know turns into an orchestra and catches you by surprise or something. Um Zero is saying maybe more depth and wider vocals, so I'll take a listen to that. Yeah, the vocals could definitely be wider and louder. Um, and then you could have you could experiment with some more maybe a little bit more high end on some of the reverbs to give it a sense of space, but it's good. — I love how the bass is filtered here as well. Like it's there, but it's not there. — Yeah, I don't really want to criticize it too much for maybe being

### [1:40:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=6000s) Segment 21 (100:00 - 105:00)

predictable because there's a place for things being a little bit predictable. Um, Diego, do the vocals need more delay? — [clears throat and music] — Sorry, let me Yeah, I think the delay on the vocals could be it could be longer, but it could also just be louder as well. This is something to try. This is the trouble when you're setting reverb and delay. This is the trouble we all have is deciding, you know, how long do we want the reverbs and delays to be? How many times do you want the delay to repeat? And then just how loud is it because sometimes you don't need it to be louder, you just need the decays to be longer. And other times the decay time is long enough already, but we actually just need a little bit more volume. So, I would say probably a little bit of both. Probably 50% louder, 50% um, more decay or delays as well. But it's nice. Like definitely don't drown it out. Um, it sounds good. Honestly, Scott Lucci's stamp of approval, so I'm completely happy with it. Thank you. Lucci, did you hear the end of the song here? — Really nice. Good stuff, Diego. And um, thank you for giving us such a nice track to choose while we were picking some other tracks as well. Really nice. Um, I want to say the next one in the queue we have one from Igor and then we've got track from Kider. So, let's get to it. And Diego, thanks for like being patient with me cuz I know we played you a few weeks ago, but not last week, so I appreciate you like not spamming us or anything like that. Um, really good. Let's go to this track here. Cool. So, on a previous uh, stream we asked Igor if they could just do a little bit more of an aggressive mix. Um, and this is still a work in progress. Uh, they say it's a little bit repetitive, but they'd love some more feedback from the community cuz it was so helpful uh, the feedback they got last time. It's been a couple of weeks, maybe even a month since we heard from them, so let's give it a listen. — So good. I'll stop it there then we'll start it again in a second. Really good. Super aggressive. Um, I know it's work in progress as you said, so definitely you've done a great job to retain all the power at this stage in a mix. Um, an issue some people can make on all the guitar tracks, all you know, snares, everything is they can just high pass all the guitar tracks, all of everything and then this region here just has no just there's like no chest, there's no body to it. So, what I was doing here was just trying to scoop like a little bit of that out, mud as people say. Um, I'm going to try some different ranges and then I was just boosting the top cuz I really felt we needed a little bit more air on everything. Um, and hopefully you could hear as I was bypassing. But let's keep listening and I'm going to like I'm going to search around for some cuz maybe we don't need to cut this much here now that I've boosted the top.

### [1:45:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=6300s) Segment 22 (105:00 - 110:00)

— This is all good. We want to keep all this. 600 like right in the middle of the mix. — I think I was right about the right — place. — But can I just say how much fun all of this grit and distortion is? Like I like that you've just leaned into it. And there's a real solid tone there. It's really nice. Um, I did accidentally make a filter drop, yeah. It's so funny like the things we'll do when we're mixing. Like it probably drives Lucci insane because I'll just be like playing the same four bar loop around for like 20 minutes or like just narrowing in on something and it probably sounds crazy when you're when I'm listening it's fine. Um, I also really like the way Fab I wish FabFilter would just sponsor me. I love the way they lay out the frequencies um, because it really does put the middle in the middle. Like this does feel like right in the middle of the mix here at uh, 600 hertz. Cuz you think from 20 to 20k you don't think of 600 as being like the middle, but it is. Like that's actually what you that's really what you hear as the middle of the mix. I'll show you. You know? That's right there in the middle cuz that's high. That's low, obviously. — So, some people were having a bit trouble with the snare. I'm not sure I had a trouble trouble with the um, with the snare. I think the trouble with FabFilter low is that I just don't think they need any sponsorships. I think they are doing incredibly well for themselves. Um, and quite right cuz they make incredible stuff. It's um, I'm really inspired by the way FabFilter builds their UIs and um, what I've always noticed with their stuff and again, not sponsored. It's some of the only plugins I've actually bought. Is that like you use them and you just you forget that you're using them. Like nothing's a pain. You're not like ah, where's the thing? You're like ah, it's a headphone icon. That obviously means listen, you know, it's all just there. Um, good stuff. Um, let's see this. Uh, ch Yeah, the snare sounds good. I think taking a little bit out of here helped the snare. Um, it's a bit this is a bit of an aggressive move on the master, but I definitely think that your guitars need a little bit of a boost here, so this is a weird EQ, but it's sort of like a a shelf at You could probably this what I've done here, you could probably actually just do it only with uh, no. God. Look, just after I've said it's all easy to use. Look at that. You could probably just achieve it just with like a shelf like this. Um, probably do the same thing. Really nice. Um, easy feedback, but like let's cut the tail. Don't need that. Really good stuff. Um, Low is saying maybe try a scoop at 1k or 2k for the snare. Yeah, we could. We could actually. I'll see if I can do that on the whole track. Maybe that would be fun. Just while we're here. We got time. Uh, let's pin this in. I hope this EQ was actually on the screen here when I was adjusting it. It wasn't over here. Cuz I'm looking at the obviously what I'm seeing on my screen is this. Um, but I've cut it all up so you see a different section. Let's try a little cut. Those sound really important to me. —

### [1:50:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=6600s) Segment 23 (110:00 - 115:00)

— So this with those two cuts that Low suggested, that is actually a more natural way to do what I'm doing. It kind of gives it more almost like more of an analog filter shape to it. Um, it's maybe more natural than just boosting all of the treble, but yeah, it works. Look, showed up. You know, for a while I had to print this backwards because I flipped the screen. I flipped the screen so that this all looks normal. Um, cuz otherwise you see a mirrored version of me. So this was printed on backwards from the computer just to make it work. Um, dude, Igor, this track's really cool. It's um even for something that's still like early work in progress, it's really got so much personality and I just love it from start to finish. Um, we'll get on to the next track, but kind of reluctantly, you know. Um, let's see. Uh, Kidder is not here. So I'd rather play someone that is here. So I'll skip over this one cuz we we've played them quite a lot. They make great music, but I want to try and prioritize people that are here. Um, yeah, see you there, guys. Uh, — yeah, I do know, Rushy. Yeah, eager for the next comp, for sure. Dice, this is really cool. I can't like pin down what genre this is, which I love so much. Super groovy. — That explains why it sounds so good. — Wait, I'm supposed to be giving feedback to this, aren't I? The tracks are all getting too good. So clean. I would say there's like there's still space to like brighten things up a bit. But I'm aware that I always do this. Brilliant from start to finish, by the way. I can't even put my finger on like what genre this is. I don't know. Chat, tell me what genre like where would you place this? It sounds super nice. Um, I would say we could brighten it up, but we're 2 hours into the stream. I've been listening without a break for 2 hours. So this is where your ear start protecting yourself and things start sounding dull. So you tend to boost things up like this and then you go listen to your track the next morning and it's all treble and it's awful. So this could be wrong, but I'm going to grab tonal balance just to see. I know everyone uh has seen me do this sort of stuff over and over again, but I'm just going to see if I put it on to modern or something. Where does it say this is? I think it's going to say it's a little low on these two bands here, maybe. Yeah. Okay, so my ears aren't cooked. That's great. A little bit low on the high mids. Now this is not uh like the law or anything. So you don't have to do this. Um, but it lets us know that we can we definitely can add a little bit more of this without getting into trouble. Um, it's a good double-check as well. So Let's see. What does the chat say? Um, hm, yeah, I completely agree. An absolute ton of amount of talent in these streams. These streams used to be me giving people feedback and helping them improve their music and now it's just like us finding finished tracks. This person says they've been like a

### [1:55:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=6900s) Segment 24 (115:00 - 120:00)

subscriber for 5 plus years of the channel. So that maybe also explains why everything's kind of sitting in a good spot. Like so good. Like the tops of these synths could have just like a little bit more. — I love this so much. I think I'm going to play this like to finish the stream as well. Like I'll play the other tracks and go back to this one. — Nice. Okay, we can't keep listening to it forever, but really good. Um, in the chat, let us know like how do we find your music? It says Dice here, but uh you know, is that what you are on Spotify or whatever? Can people listen to this? This sounds really really fun. Um, yeah. Nice. I'm glad you were able to keep using FL. But yeah, I always say this. Like obviously I love FL and I use a bunch of other DAWs, but don't feel like you have to have a crazy loyalty. Like you'd never have loyalty to Microsoft Excel or something. Like, you know, if you wanted to use like Google Sheets or something else, like you'd never be like, "No, I have to use Microsoft. " So like use always use the software that serves you the best. And if it's not serving you, go find something else cuz there's a lot of competition out there. Um, and I would say the same about my own software. Like if someone downloaded Bandwidth and it somehow wasn't working for them, like go use something else, but luckily we haven't had that happen yet. Um, — [clears throat] — right. Let's go here. One from Dodo. That'll be a lot of fun to play. I'll make sure I reset the EQ as well. It's been a long time since we've had one of your tracks on stream. They say they desperately need some mixing tips and advice for the vocals. — [singing] — And I can see Nice. Obviously I'll the rest of the track in a sec. Um Dude, it sounds so professional, so mature. It's pretty much release ready. Um the vocals, because you were asking about them, I think the only issue is I think they're a touch loud and a little bit thin. I think you could probably make them a dB quieter or 2 dB quieter. And then boost or bring back a little bit at like 200 Hz uh whatever those sort of one or two lowest fundamentals of um her voice is, I just bring a little bit back into there. This the vocals sounded a little bit scooped and hollow. Um we don't need them to sound completely natural, but I think that will balance them out. I think in that case, they'll just sit right there on top of the track and they'll be good. Um Yeah, let's see this. Also, I wanted to say as well, we'll keep listening. Uh lots of people were asking me and

### [2:00:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=7200s) Segment 25 (120:00 - 125:00)

well, not lots, like 10 or 12 people were asking me last time. They're like, "Why aren't you using the VSX in the stream? " Cuz obviously, I was promoting these. The only reason I'm not wearing these in the stream is that I can't run the software with them. I should have said this earlier. Um these are fantastic headphones, but because I can't run the software, I can't use all the modeling during the stream. So, in the stream, I'd just rather use a pair of headphones that I've used for I don't know, 8 years or something. I know these ones really well, whereas I like these when they have the modeling on them the most. So, that's why I'm not using these. Like day-to-day in the studio, I'm using these all the time. I'm using these when working on mastering, um building this next plugin. Like these have been crucial for monitoring the bass. Um but yeah, I wanted to clear that up cuz it's weird if you see me like promote something and then you don't see me use it. Like every single thing I promote, I use. Um and the only thing in the last couple of years that I promote that I don't use regularly are the wireless speakers because I just don't travel much, so I don't really have much use to I don't need them in the studio, I suppose. But yeah, everything you see me promote is stuff that I use, absolutely. Um Cool, let's listen to more of this cuz this was really fun. I'm going to try and listen mostly to the vocals again. Better than yesterday. Breaking down the walls. Breaking through the walls. I was running from love, running from love — into the deep darkness. I was running from love, running from love into the darkness. Darkness — [crying] — can never reach you. Darkness can never reach — We could compress the vocals a little bit more. — Darkness can never So yeah, now the vocals are a bit weird cuz they are sounding like I'd like the vocals to be brighter as well, but they're also a touch hollow. So, this is where vocals get really annoying. I would probably take the vocal processing like the EQ off back to where it was at default. Compress the vocals, add your saturation, add your reverb and then see what they need tonally to fit them in cuz a lot of people open up a vocal and they do, you know, all sorts of stuff to it like this. And they and de-ess it a little bit. Where are we? bit, maybe try to boost the top. And they try to do this to fit it into the track before they've even got it at the right volume or compressed it cuz everything else you do to it, compression, distortion, it's going to really change the tonal balance as well. You distort something, you're going to bring in a lot of high end. You might kill they might kill the bass of what you had there. So, um yeah, that's something I've been working on like crazy for my next plugin is figuring out, you know, really tuning saturation and distortion so that you don't just kill like the low end of sounds. Like it gets complicated. Um but it's really nice. So, um I do think like I was saying with the vocals, sometimes they sit on top of the mix, sometimes they fall below it a little bit. So, I think that's where compression can help us. Just don't know just throw on a little bit more compression, plenty of makeup gain. Um Keep the attack like a medium fast attack, so we're not killing all the transients. Give it a fast to medium release. And you know, on stuff like this, you could go 10 dB of compression probably. Like we really want in these choruses almost all the words we want at the same level. Um and I think that would help um help quite a lot. But you can we can keep this feedback sort of going on Discord um and we can figure it out. You can send this in again. Um and that'll all be good. — [clears throat] — So, I've got one track, Quantum Flux, and then I wanted to go back to that space final to kind of like play us out of the stream. Um cool. So, this is Polly in the uh in the chat. So, let me go to here. We can read through as I play. Nice. —

### [2:05:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=7500s) Segment 26 (125:00 - 130:00)

— Sounds good. This is my favorite section so far. — I like this build, but I was caught off guard a little bit by this heavy kick. Completely agree. So, I'm just going to pause this here. I actually really like the bass because you were asking, "Should I keep it or lose it for a more traditional trance bassline? " I actually quite like it. I think the bass could be louder. I don't know if everyone agrees in chat, but I'm hearing the kick like really strong, which is what you want, but the bass is kind of tucked away and I think the bass could probably come up a little bit. — So, what I'm doing here is boosting the bass, but then each time the kick comes in, I'm just cutting it down a bit. So, this is all I can do on the master to try and like push the bass out. When this filter is on, you're going to get a deeper sub bass and more of that punchy bassline. And then each time the kick hits, it's just going to you know, it's not going to make the kick too much louder. So, that's kind of what I'm going for there. And I think it sounds good. Let's take another listen. — That's a minute. So, I've never used this sort of technique before. It's just the first thing that sprung to mind, but it definitely lets me hear what it would sound like if I just turned the bass channel up. Um Let's see this. What do people think? Um Yeah, the bass is a little bit blurred, a little bit buried. Um Yeah, so you Polly, you can kind of hear what that bass uh boost would sound like. I'll turn this off cuz obviously, this EQ is a bit ridiculous, but um yeah, definitely don't do that on the master. It's just like it's fun. Um Sounds good though. Um I'm just going to try something fun because I want more bass anyway. I think if I'll if I just pull bandwidth on it just purely for fun. Um let's turn that off here. I think I'll use this just to push the low end a touch. Um Sweet. We're on. —

### [2:10:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=7800s) Segment 27 (130:00 - 135:00)

— I'm fine with it. So, this is not for putting on the master of your track, but definitely I'm liking having more width in this track, so that's something we can work with. Maybe even some width on the bass as well. And obviously I would just apply this to individual tracks. This was never made as a master processor at all. Um which is why it's kind of hard to show it off cuz I need in like a mix situation. Um Yeah, I had a question about the UI. Um so, obviously like I built this in collaboration with the designer. There's lots of elements of it that I designed myself, but they really helped pull it all together. Um yeah, and it's just [snorts] like I've always wanted something that was like visually simple, but still had all the controls you need. So, you've got the band splits and everything, but yeah, I absolutely adore this plugin, but the next one is just going to make like this is going to make this I don't know. The next one's a so much better again. I'm so excited for it. I just need to turn that off in the queue. I promise it won't be long. I like have we're really nearing the finish line on it. Um Let me see this. What happened? Alex, I completely agree with this in the chat here. I want to highlight this comment. And they need to create a reverbish vibe on the leads and then possibly spread that out to the side as well um cuz it's feeling a little bit too um too dry. Track's also a bit quiet. I don't think it's quiet. I think I'm just playing it quietly on the uh on the stream. It's definitely loud enough in real life. I'm going to move towards the end of the track. And they're also specifically asking like is it worth making this longer? Like make it into a club mix or leave it at 3:30 cuz for now I'm thinking probably leaving it at the sort of length that it's at would be good. — Nope. — Nice. I would probably say leave it where it is because it's like it's repetitive, but in a good way. So, I'm not really sure it needs to be much longer. I did want to say just for the chat, the reason I can't tease the plugin is because it's something new. So, I will tease it like a few days or a week before launch, but maybe like I can tease some parts of it, but the trouble is it's like it's a new concept. So, if I tease it like I know someone will copy it. So, I can't do that cuz there are people that could put together a plugin in like a week or two and just launch it. So, yeah, I've got to kind of keep the cards close to the chest unfortunately. But, it's not just like some multiband saturator. Like I [clears throat] can't tell you how tired I am when I see like oh, the new plugin from XYZ company and some good companies as well and it's just like another multiband saturator and you're like great, we needed that. Um But, yeah. Cool. Uh Yeah, probably this is really nice. Uh Kind of final feedback, I guess. Bassline a little bit louder. Um some of the elements are a bit like they kind of strike me a little bit like this single kick here. I know it's kind of in the genre, but it was really it was it felt like it was sort of out of nowhere. — I know that it's to start that fill that sort of a white noise sweep. So, maybe it could be like a longer kick or something a little bit more like an impact sound. Um but really really cool um really cool song um from start to finish and I really enjoyed it. I'm probably going to wrap um wrap the stream up there. I just want to remind everybody um to go vote for your favorites of these tracks here. And I know people that have been here from the start of the stream are going to get so bored of this, but please head over to Discord. I'll pull it up on the

### [2:15:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-9lMDsEFZQ&t=8100s) Segment 28 (135:00 - 137:00)

screen here. Oh, In the community tab there is a vote here tab and you know, we have tens of thousands of people here. It's completely safe. This is a great community. Um it's really fun as well. We've got all sorts of channels and we do events here from time to time. Vote here in the community tab. It is called vote here. Couldn't make this more simple. Choose your three favorite tracks from those 10. You can listen to them all here. Person with the most votes wins. Um yeah, and I can also the reason I'm doing on Discord is I can make sure the voting is all legit and you can join that with the link in the description and it's also linked in a pinned comment on uh this one here, but I'm going to just go back and play uh let's see what we've got here. That was one of the I wanted to play this track to get us to finish the live stream cuz it was really fun and it was a nice sort of vibe. Yeah. I thought that'd be fun. — Okay. I'll play a bit quiet. Okay, thank you everyone. Thanks for taking part especially all of you who continually give feedback uh week after week. I'm sorry if I didn't get around to everybody's track. Um there's too many for me to possibly do that. What I do is after the stream I go in and I take notes of either comments I've completely missed or ignored by accident. I put them in my notebook here and I try to queue you up for the next time we do these sorts of streams, okay? Um so, yeah, I'm never trying to ignore anyone. Thank you so much for all of your help and support and for enjoying the Should have put the fat filter back up here. Anyway, thank you so much. I'll see you all in the next stream. Bye for now. Solo device here unfortunately. Going to make sure this one actually plays out.
