All right, so there's this event called CP+ that I've always wanted to go to. It's basically the biggest camera show in all of Japan. And actually, according to Nikon — This is the Asia's biggest camera show. You said Asia's biggest? — Asia's biggest. Oh, like including all of Asia? Including all of Asia. And since we're there, we might as well have a little bit of fun, visit some family, and also Japanese baseball. They take it very seriously over there. Even my mom tried to get me to be a superstar. Too bad I sucked at it. But anyways, I've always wanted to see a game there in Japan, and it just so happened that the great almighty Shohei Ohtani himself was coming to Japan to play a game. So, of course, we can't miss that. All right, so here we are at the convention center here in Tokyo, well, Yokohama. Close to Tokyo. But I'm excited cuz I've never really experienced the camera space here in Japan, which is the home of Canon, Sony, Panasonic, Nikon, Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi — Mitsubishi, Kodak. I actually I don't know if that's from here. Where's Kodak from? So, let's get in there so I can practice some of my broken Japanese, you know. Arigato gozaimasu. Oh, no, I can actually speak a little bit more than just that. I was imitating Frank over here. — Arigato gozaimasu. Oh, yeah. That's it. Arigato gozaimasu. Yeah, that's it. We're in. Okay, so first impressions, it's much smaller than NAB in Las Vegas. But all the big dogs are still here. We got Sony, we got Nikon, we got Fujifilm, we got Canon, all just lined up right here. Panasonic's in the back. Oh, Red here, too. There's Nikon. We got some jump rope action here at Canon, which is what Frank is shooting on right now. So, you know, if the video looks like trash, you can blame Frank for shooting on a Canon. I'm like, "You sure you don't want to shoot on my Sony? " He's like, "No. " And this is his favorite place ever. — right here. Canon USA, I mean, Canon Japan. This is what I'm here for. For sure, this is like over a thousand dollars worth of lenses. — All the cameras up here — fantastic. — wide open, just I'm for dust to come and land on the sensor. It's Japan, there's no dust in Japan, bro. That's right. My first RF lens ever, 28-70. 3 lb and it cost me $3,000 when I got it. And I'm still using it, yeah. 28-70, 3 lb. You know, Sony makes one, too, it's smaller. — I know, I know. 5 years later, though. Frank and I have a lot of beef. 800 mm. F11. — F11. — F11, but it is nice. Like, for 800 bucks or something, right? Give or take a year. It is pretty cool having a 100 mil with stabilization. But it's an F11. 70-200. Macro. That's small. Yeah, that's cool. Oh, yeah, this is light. I might need this lens, 70-200 F4 macro. Yeah, look at that macro. Here, I'm finding some excellent Sony gear here while I'm at the Canon booth. This is sick up here. How you just have like that whole lineup of super telephotos? — Is that an RF lens in your pocket or are you just excited to see me? See that camera rig all the way over there? 200-800. So, this can start as like a fairly practical lens and then go into like some serious like specialty territory. Frank, this is the lens you need to get right here. 200-800? — Yeah, if I was a Canon shooter, this would be I would have this. And it's light, too. It's lighter than my 2-600. It's slower, though. F6. 3-9. That's not bad. I mean, for the range — bad. Try it out. — Wow, this is light for how it looks. Yeah. Oh, wow. 1,200. See that close-up of that lens? That lens is all the way over there. Look at that. Yeah, that's crazy. Dude, just imagine all the birding we could do with this. That's so cool. That is super cool. The long one. Frank, how do you feel right now? I feel great. I want to live here. I want to stay right here. We'll just set up a tent. And that's it? Live here forever. — forever. Frank might have a small case of Asian fever. I just put that out there. — As a matter of fact, I feel like the real reason Frank came is to find himself a Japanese wife and he did manage to find some success. Look what I got, bro. I won this. And I recorded B-roll. So I was trying and trying and the employee was kind of like looking at me fail and fail until finally she kind of like pushed me out of the way and she opens up the cabinet and she readjusted and places it like at the edge so that the arm can like barely touch it and I can win it. And I'm just like Are you taking that home? Hell yeah, I'm taking it home. You going to put it somewhere like Yeah, yeah. And what happens when guests come over? Are you going to hide it somewhere? — No, there's no hiding it. Where are you going to put it? I'm proud of this. What are you talking about? You can I wait to unbox it? Oh my gosh. She's perfect, bro. But anyways, back to CP+ there's endless things to check out, but something that did catch my eye is this waterproof drone. I mean, definitely something I want to test one of these days. Seems really cool, but I'm curious how you can possibly keep those lenses clean when there's so much splashing going on. Then swung by Insta360 to see what they're up to. This is a cute, right? What's your little name, huh? You're so cute. A lot

of user use this camera to show the POV from their pets. — This is the best thing here in all of CP+. Right here. Whoa, is this a dive housing? So right when I get back from Japan, I'm going to go on a diving trip. We're going to do some underwater filming and apparently these actually can stitch underwater, which is pretty sick now. I keep seeing everyone do this to their Ace Pro. Is this getting popular now? Yeah, you can see this wall. All this is as from Japanese users. These are taken with this camera? — Yes. What? You would never think this is taken with an action camera. Wow, I didn't realize that can shoot with this resolution. Yeah, and also we made a book. This is all from Ace Pro 2. 2? Yes, this is Go Ultra. Whoa, that's cool. Interesting. is Kyushu. So, this is with anamorphic lenses? Wow. Got zoom rocker right here. Have you ever tried this before? The cage, no. But, our friend's been using it, though. It still feels weird to me to take pictures with an action camera, but I've seen good stuff come out of it. I actually like I like the photos I take with this thing. The only thing is that it's always wide shot, so that's the only thing about it. But, I like it. So, Ross has actually been in Japan for the last few months, and he uses the Ace Pro 2 to take a photo every single day, which is pretty cool. But, he also has some other fun toys, like the new Meta AI displays. Do I look badass? — They don't look good on you. They don't? Hold on. Is there a display screen on there? It feels like a screen on this side. It's only on one lens. Oh, shoot. I see something. Whoa, that's crazy. Okay. Oh, you're controlling something. How are you controlling it? With the It's a neural band that you wear. Oh, you should have just said with my brain. You can control with the uh the temple, too. Yeah, you can just you swipe around like a trackpad. — What? Oh, shoot. Calls. No, wait. I don't want to I like it's about to call somebody, I think. So, I was about to call an ex-girlfriend. Just be like, I've been waiting for you to call. Oh, no. I made a call. No. Break them. Snap them in half. Hold on. So, you can't see anything, huh? No, I can't see anything. — Can I watch videos on this? Not really. You can watch reels if someone sends them directly to you. You can't like hop on Instagram reels. — Okay. Oh, you can't do them scroll? No. Rain Man over here. That way. To the 7-Eleven. To adjust the volume and the brightness, you do a pinch. Oh. HR. The thing is like I I'll be doing it in my pockets, too, so it looks a little sketchy. Oh, shoots. I have maps. — Yeah, so you can see where you are on the map. I've always wondered, does it feel like you're looking at something really close to you, or far away? I think like focus-wise, it's like focusing on something like a phone distance. So, it's not like super straining. Well, that's crazy. You're just like doing this. Yeah. The best part is the handwriting feature. So, if I'm responding to a message, Uh-huh. I can just pretend to write. So, you're texting somebody? So, I can just write — I'm here. You just write it like this? Yeah, your finger or then you can just pretend you're holding a pen. If I'm looking in the sun, it's pretty hard to see cuz it's like bright. But if I'm looking at the floor, it's like stands out pretty good. — Yeah, yeah. Did you want to try translation cuz it work in Spanish? If you want to see Oh, can you speak in Spanish? Ya que vamos a ir a ver partido de béisbol. Here we go to watch the baseball game. Yeah, pretty close. I mean, for gen one, it's pretty interesting. Yeah, yeah. Do you would you recommend people buy it? That's a no. If you like tech I like them, but the battery life is terrible. Oh. Yeah. DJI is here, who is now officially banned from the United States of America. Isn't that awesome? No, it's not awesome. It sucks. — awesome? It hurts. It does hurt. — It's painful. I always like making videos about DJI's stuff because their stuff is so good. My days of making DJI videos is just going to be a lot harder because I have to go and travel outside the country to get a hold of their stuff now. So, I don't think we're going to get this back home in the States, but this is like a Roomba. Like a DJI vacuum cleaner. I mean, I bet you this is probably pretty good. It's got to be probably one of the best ones ever created on planet Earth. — could probably fly upstairs, probably do your laundry and D-log, but we will never know. It's so interesting that we're here in Japan, so everything feels like a different planet, but the gear is still the same. So, it makes you realize is like how international these brands are, you know? I mean, they have scopes up on DaVinci Resolve, looking through the R3D workflow. We could all look at that and like totally understand each other. — That is how it is. All of us have that in common. Yeah. — Yeah. The camera, the aperture, the settings. You know, I think that's one of the things I really love about traveling is you go somewhere really far away where people look different, they speak a different language, they have a different culture. And on the surface level, we are opposites. But then you go a little bit deeper and you start to realize that woah, we're actually very similar in a lot of ways. You know, we're all the same creature, you know, we all eat, we all sleep, we all sometimes get diarrhea. You know, another great example is the baseball game that takes place on the other side of the world. I mean, when you're watching it, it's the same exact baseball we watch, but then you get up to get some food and all of it is kind of different. Instead of peanuts, you have edamame right there. You have curry, yummy, sushi and bento. But of course, you can't have a baseball

### [10:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVoN42mc1g0&t=600s) Segment 3 (10:00 - 15:00)

stadium without some hot dogs. You have pork tongue over here instead of hot dogs. Pork tongue is good. You just can't think about the fact that you're eating pork tongue. I was also surprised to see people bringing in their super telephoto lenses. Oh, and also there's these little girls that bring beer to you in a keg and in a backpack keg, which apparently is pretty heavy. And then you labs up and down the stadium all game. So you would think this is a job for some big buff dude, right? But no, if you're a dude, no. If you're buff, not a chance. Pretty sure you can only have this job if you can fit into this skirt. And once your load gets a little bit lighter, bam, we'll use Japanese efficiency to swap it out in like 5 seconds. I've never seen this man this happy. You know, anytime there's a great Japanese athlete, we get really excited cuz you know, we're generally smaller people. So, you know, we're not playing in football, we're not really playing basketball, but baseball, we sometimes get Ichiro and now Otani. Hey, how you doing? Good to see you. What are you doing here? Oh, just uh we're making a little video. We're stopping by Angelbird. I recognized Roman here. You're the the founder of Angelbird, was it? — Yes. Yeah, yeah. So a few years ago, I met Roman. Actually, I think at a party at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. But basically, that's where I learned that Ari and Brad, basically they trust Angelbirds to make their cards. And that's what I've been using ever since. I feel like memory cards are one of the underdogs of your camera setup. You know, you don't really spend too much time thinking about it. That is until you run into an issue like we did earlier that day. Corrupted file. Shut up. Oh yeah, it's that one corrupted file. Frank. — You corrupted the file. — not corrupt the file. — every single button. — All I did was turn this dial. That's the aperture. I've been using this since day one. I've never seen that screen. — changed the aperture. You went like this. It froze. Screen froze. Corrupt file. You sure you don't want to shoot this on my Sony? — Don't press every button all at once, bro. Dude, I just turned the So, I filled in Roman to kind of get his thoughts on why these types of corruptions happen. — Don't worry, we were using Angelbird, so this would be a good time to say, "Yeah, if it wasn't Angelbird, it wouldn't have happened. " I have Angelbird cards in my camera. It can also be the camera itself, the electronics. It can be the battery. It can be an accessory like a microphone or an HDMI monitor. One thing is, please make sure you format the card always in the camera. The offload on the computer side, the computer, so host system, Mac, Windows, whatever, they are writing a lot of files on the card, hidden files, which then can also act in that the camera is freezing up. — So, from there, Roman showed me his card readers, which have a write protect option to make sure the card doesn't get manipulated whenever you plug it into your computer. And I'm always amazed to see how much data can be stored on a tiny little memory card now. Do you guys make a 1 TB micro SD card? Yes, actually they are up to 2 TB, but 256 as well as 512 are the ones which are most compatible also with the action cams. — Okay, in 5 years from now, how many terabytes will this thing be? Uh He would be the one that would know cuz he's the founder of Angelbird. — I don't know if you have heard about shortage and price increase. It is going really through the roof. And within the next 2 3 years, we don't see that it's getting better. So, it just will be raising up more in regards of pricing. Price Yes, definitely. Yeah, 100%. And it's it's not going to get any better No. — anytime soon. Okay, so So, if you Should we buy Yes. them now? Is this like buying getting in early on crypto where we're just like, let's buy all the chips now and then they'll raise the price. Frank says whenever we're walking through here in Japan, it's like playing Where's Waldo, where it's hard to find me cuz everyone kind of looks like me. That's a very stereotypically racial thing to say, Frank. — It's true, though. Japanese drone operator right here. FPV drone, ah. Is it Japanese subtitles, I guess? I didn't even know there were Japanese subtitles on these videos. So, he's been building FPV drones with 360 cameras for 4 years now. I mean, to me, anyone that's put a 360 camera on an FPV drone has my respect because I've been down that road, and it is not easy. But, I think that's kind of why it's awesome that we now have options like — the Anti-Gravity A1 360 camera on a drone. You know, you get that full immersive experience. Oh, I think is this the line to buy it? But, it's cool how they set this up so you can actually experience looking around and through the goggles and everything. And, it was cool that even all the way out here on the other side of the planet, I still get to see some familiar faces. What's up, man? How you doing, man? Hey, how's it going? Good to see you guys. You guys uh making a video while you're here? What are you guys up to? Just wandering around enjoying ourselves. Oh, okay. Cool. You know, you're putting me to shame cuz you're working so hard right now. This is a prop. Aha. Yeah. This There's no here. no here. — too. This is a prop, too. — This is product placement. Walking around with the product placement here. — Yes, sir. It's like, hey. Absolutely. What better way to end the day exploring

the streets with some friends and having some yakitori. Now, every time I come to Japan, hands down, one of the must-do things is to get on the bullet train. Like, these things go so fast and ride so smooth, you feel like you're in this futuristic machine, but they've actually been around for a long time. Here's a picture I took of Dylan way back in the day, but this thing's actually been around since 1964. So, my mom actually would take this thing around when she was growing up here as a kid. And after all this time, there are zero accidents that cause fatalities. But basically, you get yourself a little bento box, and by the time you're done eating it, you've already blasted across to the other side of Japan. Oh, what the heck? I think I got the wrong thing. Well, I still got to see my cousins in Shizuoka, and also uncle Mark in Osaka. He actually took us out for some delicious okonomiyaki, which even Frank was able to eat, which is great cuz he's kind of particular about the food he experiments with. Frank had Subway twice yesterday, and this morning. And we're here at like the food capital of the world. This looks good. Did we find something? Are we not going to Subway? Oh my god, yeah, yes. All right, we did it, Ralph. But back to the future, we swung by the Tamron booth, where you can drop off your lenses to have it cleaned, very nice. And I think a big benefit of going to these shows is I can actually grab a lot of these things that I see online, pick it up, see how it feels in my hands. But that's something I could just do at a regular camera store, right? But what I felt was really special about CP+ in particular is a lot of the people that are in charge of creating this stuff and making these big decisions on what they're going to make next. They're right here. I got to meet and chat with some of the people that were in charge of creating one of my favorite lenses, the Tamron 35-150, which starts at an F2. 0 and goes to an F2. 8, and it still has that insane range of 35-150 full frame. Best lens. And for the brands, it's their chance to talk directly with customers, get some feedback. So, I told them my main complaint about this lens is it doesn't have a tripod mount, so I have to get this aftermarket mount, which isn't that great. It kind of slips. He tells me that adding a tripod foot would increase the weight of the lens. So, I was like, "How about a removable one by quarter 20? " And he says even that would actually require a different material for the housing. So, it would still increase weight. So, there's a lot of nuance when it comes to these things, and I really learned that lesson when working on the TriBac tripod with SmallRig. You know, the first ever hydraulic tripod that sets up with just one single lever pull, and it's awesome. And link description. Good reaction, you know. But I really learned a ton about how many decisions that go into creating a product. So, I feel like it's important to really identify your top few priorities, and then a lot of the finer decisions kind of revolve around that. So, for example, Tamron designs a majority of their lenses with the same 67 mil front thread. So, you have one filter that fits most of their lenses, which is awesomely convenient. But of course, that also means some compromises when it comes to designing. So, it's all a big balancing act, you know. I love my 35-150, but the compromise, it's a bit heavy. So, they created a lighter 35-100 f/2. 8. Maybe less capable, but way smaller and way lighter. — So, this lens is like under 1,000 bucks. That's good. Now, with CP+ being only a once-a-year event, it might not necessarily line up with your next travel plans to Japan. But don't worry, because you can still go to one of the many massive camera stores, and you can pretty much find anything from new stuff to old stuff to cool stuff to weird stuff. — Head-mount cam. What? Head-mount cam. Is that the new one? You love this camera. — camera. It's the G7 killer. I still like the form factor of this thing. Oh, the V10, the other heavy hitter. Boo. Trash. The form factor I love. — Yeah, it's the form factor that's great, that's the best. — I want better stabilization, better audio, and then we'll talk. No log, and you can't replace the battery. — Well, Panasonic, there's a camera that they make that I'm really interested in, but I just I'm sure that's going to overheat too fast for what I want to do with it. How do they have this plugged in? HDMI? Oh, the micro. Oh man, I'm surprised that this connection hasn't broken yet with the people coming here and handling this camera. Oh, the RX0 II. I always wanted that but could never justify the price of it. Dude, this camera can look pretty good cuz it's a 1-in sensor but the stabilization is crap. A7 III. I'm sure it's good. I just don't know if I saw enough for me to want to upgrade. A lot of this gear is like in really good condition. Japanese people are pretty good at keeping good care of their gear. And I set a terrible example. Some old Nikon glass here. The old school nifty 50. 50 mil F1. 8. They have been making these little pancakes forever and they've always been cheap. How much is this? This is basically 10 bucks. That's killing. This is 10 bucks. I used to shoot on a lot of Contax Zeiss lenses. That was like a budget way to get Zeiss

### [20:00](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVoN42mc1g0&t=1200s) Segment 5 (20:00 - 25:00)

glass. These guys are like dinosaurs now. In like 10 years ago, "Oh my god, I got a gimbal. " They never upgraded the micro plus though. That's almost like a decade old already. But it's still the one I use cuz I can't find anything that tops it. Um this is what I'm talking about. Just to have in your room, pretty cool. Here's Nikon, also red. I've never had an interpreter life before. That's cool. So, they can speak in Japanese and then we can hear him in English. So, I don't have to speak my broken Japanese then. Thank you. It's not like you can see. What is match you? I'm an marketing manager. You so you're speaking in English? Uh yeah, I do. Oh, okay. So, I So, do I The concept for this year is a Nikon play park. So, this is a like a shooting experience zone. So, you can try like a whatever gears you'd like and shoot like a moving subject. This is a heritage line. Oh, that's cool. You can see many cars. This is all digital? The old days of This is in a no touch? I want to touch it so bad. Lens is a designed for the ZF. So, you can see the classical lenses here. Yeah. But it's a the inside of the body is a modern functions. I And we also have the Z Cinema corners. They are offered a lot for the price, so I'm very curious on what's coming down the pipeline. Nothing yet, right? — Nothing yet. — I'm going to act like I could read this. Everything has been filmed by Z R. That's crazy that this looks just like red footage. You get it on a $2,400 Z R. Yeah, full frame auto focus. Are 3D. You speak Japanese? Ever since the Z R came out, I feel like a lot of filmmakers all of a sudden was like, "Should I start buying Nikon glass? " — So here they show me the just announced Nikon 70 to 200 F 2. 8. And don't forget this is CP+ so the developer himself is actually giving me the rundown. This is the original. This is the Mark II. The new lens is a bit smaller, noticeably lighter by 360 g, but being more durable, better bokeh, and improved autofocus which should give you much better confidence when shooting fast-moving objects. Then I asked him what kind of differences there are for video shooters and he said a couple different things like the Arca Swiss built into the tripod plate. You also don't have to worry about it extending out or shrinking when you're zooming and let's just internal movement which should help with gimbal balancing. And he was saying overall the users that are using these cameras and lenses to shoot video is growing, so it's definitely something to think about. Now he was definitely saying a lot of words that is way beyond my basic Japanese vocabulary. So I ended up being very grateful for the interpreter in my earpiece. Your translation is pretty good. Like how do you translate so fast? Yeah, like training like for like more than 5 years. — So you can hear and then just speak it like as it's happening cuz you're talking while you're listening at the same time. — Yeah, so this is simultaneous interpretation. What are you going to do all week? Are you free all week? Can you hang out with us all week? We need you everywhere. We're going to take him. How do you know you can take Oh. Thank you so much. Good stuff. We're excited to see what else you guys come up with. — Yeah. We're waiting for the new ZR or the ZR Pro. ZR Come on. ZR Pro. I was also pretty excited to see what Canon's 3D VR lenses can do. It only shoots in one direction, so it's not like 360 where you can look around in every direction, but as long as you're looking forward it actually looks like really convincing 3D. So, you know, looking ahead if VR goggles like the Oculus Quest or Apple Vision Pro really take off, this is definitely a very valuable specialty. — Dude, even this. Look how small it is, man. That's actually dope. — Oh, and NiSi was also there. They've been on my radar because they make cinema lenses, you know, PL mount with manual focus, but with really great optical quality for relatively low cost. They just released the Rewind series, which is going to give us more of a vintage look, but they originally started with filters. — Filter system that we call the Jet Mag. You can lock. Oh. Oh, that made me very nervous. Oh, this is the 20-28-70. The F2. F2, yeah. — But now that I've been to CP+ I feel like I understand what Roman meant when I asked him, "Would you say this is the biggest camera show in Japan? " Uh I would say yes, and I would say definitely it's one of the most important one. But not only for Japan because the industry is here. — You know, it wasn't quite the shiny new cameras being announced everywhere type of hype show. It was more of all the mega brands under one roof and sharing a space with all their customers and also just their competitors and just kind of like a big recalibration. And as we were packing up to go home, we had one last surprise. — Oh, no way. I was like, "This guy looks so familiar. " People are going to think this is staged for sure cuz we there's no way we ran into you twice Yes. on the same video. But this is Shibuya Crossing right here, right? — Shibuya Crossing right there. In the most crowded place in Tokyo. — There's so many people that look like us. How do we find each other? I

got to head to the airport in 12 minutes. — Okay. So, I got to leave. — But, what? I can walk with you guys. So, you didn't see him, though. No, well, I saw you guys looking at each other. I'm like, "Oh, is there some chemistry going Did you end up going back to CP+ for day two? CP+ was cool, but really, like, when it comes to Japan, going to like the big camera store, I feel like that's where really it's at. Oh, shoots. 1:50. I My checkout is in 6 minutes. Is this always like this? It's always like this. Not always. What's your favorite mics, by the way? I two rock. Oh. The DJI Mic 3. Yeah. But, I also bring around a Mic 2. Oh, yeah. USBC, man. You can't beat it. — I'm going to start a segment called like, "What camera are you wearing? " What is this? RX1R Mark III. Possibly the second most hated camera in 2025. Is the first be the FX3, which I like? Yes. I like it cuz it's small. Very easy to bring around. Look at this. It's very cute. Very nice. — How do you like the new A7S V? — It's great.
