If you're going to be using the Power Platform, it's important to know what environments are and which ones to use for certain situations. So, today we're going to be talking about the developer environment. The developer environment is a special type of environment that you can create if you have the permission to. Some organizations do restrict the ability to create these environment types because they take one free gig of Dataverse storage to be created. But, if you do have the ability to create this type of environment, you get a Dataverse-backed environment that is all your own. Developer environments are intended for a single user, and that single user is the owner of the environment, and they have the highest security role in that environment. So, it's a really great place for you to be able to build out things, and you have full control and full access in that environment. You can build your custom Dataverse tables, you can build out security roles, full end-to-end solutions in your developer environment. But, the developer environment is not where you want your assets to stay because the developer environment is typically step one in the process called application lifecycle management. Application lifecycle management is the lifecycle of your solutions that you're going to be creating in the Power Platform. So, you would have three different environments, one for development, one for testing, and one for production. And typically a developer environment is used for that first step, development.
