If you're trading (particularly if you're day trading) you need to have the best nutrition during the trading day as this will effect our performance.  So having the right diet is well worth the effort.  A healthy diet will keep you alert and active throughout the day.

- Have a good breakfast; nothing too heavy but don't skip the breakfast.
- Stay hydrated;  make sure you're drinking enough water.
- Eat a light lunch less than 1000 calories.

Okay, so something we don't really cover very often, but something often overlooked and something very, very important. If you're trading, specifically if you're day trading, you need to have the best nutrition you can during the trading day. And sometimes I think, "Yeah, whatever. It's fine. It's whatever. " But actually, this is going to affect our performance. And you never know something that could affect your performance. It could have a knock-on effect and cause you to take a bad trade that could cause you to trigger you to do another bad trade. Could cause you to go on tilt. You don't know. So, for the sake of doing something as simple as having the right nutrition, the right diet or the right approach to things, it's worth doing, isn't it? Right? There's no reason not to. Okay. Number one, have a good breakfast. you know

you've been going all night without any food. Your blood sugar is low. Your you kind of not had any sustenance inside you. Having a good solid breakfast, not too heavy. Wouldn't recommend like massive fries or anything, but a decent breakfast to get your blood sugar level going so that you've got the fuel you need to fuel your brain. You may still be able to you may still think that you're okay and fine. And of course, you get up, you can do every everyday functions. You might not even feel hungry. You're doing everything as normal. But at some point, you're not going to have that fuel that you need for your brain to function effectively. It's not going to be as sharp. ready. It's not going to be as precise. So, have a breakfast, whatever that may be.

Don't skip the breakfast. All right. Number two, staying hydrated. This is something that, you know, I make sure I try to do. I have to make sure that I'm drinking the water. But drinking water, listen, what are we 50 60% water? And our brains are like 70% water. If we don't get it and we dehydrate, we get headaches. The brain is not as sharp. Again, it's not as precise. It's not in clear mode. And it's such an easy thing to do, guys, having that bottle of water at your desk or making sure you're, you know, knocking down a liter in the morning or half morning, whatever it is, just to get that hydration going. In fact, even some high performers who are outside of the trading world and I've read other books and listened to podcasts and what have you on them. Even they say, "Listen, I get up and I just make sure I've got half a liter of water straight away inside me because I'm aware of the negative effects of dehydration. " Often you won't feel those from a physical perspective until it's too late. And you don't want to be you want to have everything on your side as a trader, especially if you're in an air conditioned office, a dry air or heated air. You know, it's very easy or it's very hot. It's very easy to get dehydrated and not realize it. So, probably one of the best things out of all of these is to just make sure you're drinking enough fluid. Now, don't be just be careful. What you don't want to do as a day trader, which we've probably made, everyone's made this mistake, is start necking back liters and liters of water and then having to nip off to the bathroom back and forth, and it's interrupting your desk flow. Be sensible with it, but just make sure that you're hydrated. And no, I don't think coffee counts very much. nose water in there. It's not as good for you as actual just clear water. All right. And not as Coke either, guys. Can of Coke. That is right. Number three, eat a light lunch.

Uh less than 1,000 calories. You know what? That's a bit much. I'm going to say you probably want to have less than 700 calories. Don't,000 calories is quite hefty. Studies have shown that if you're eating a heavy lunch of more than 1,000 calories, then it is going to decrease your performance level. It's going to decrease the amount of skill you have. It's going to decrease your response time. It's going to decrease everything because, of course, all the blood is going straight to your stomach to digest the food. It's not going where you want it into your brain to make those great trades that are going to make you the money, right? So, have a light lunch. Don't go crazy with it. Don't start gobbling down massive meals. Just keep it light. Keep yourself fueled up. Try I'm not here to tell you to eat healthy. not here to kind of dictate to you and say, "Hey, you should be eating this and being that. " These are just things that may make you more money or may make get you to your trading journey quicker and they're easy to do. So, a light lunch, snack, sandwich, soup, whatever it kind of thing is. Point is, don't go start grilling off, you know, 28 sausages and gallons of chips. It's probably not. Save that for the dinner if you like eating that kind of stuff. All right, last one. Snack intelligently. So, lay off like

the heavy sugar stuff. you don't really need that sugar rush. You need to keep yourself under control. the blood flow going. sugar levels stable. So things like, you know, I'm not a mega healthy guy. I'm not pretending I am here. But things like, you know, raisins and nuts and things that probably quite better for you than, let's say, uh, Mars bars and Haribo for extreme example, but you get the point. It's just, you know, the score, guy. I know the score. It's sensible choices, but sometimes it's just remembering to do it. So, hey, remember to have a decent breakfast. Remembering to drink that water and make sure you're drinking it throughout the day. If you need to kind of set an alert to do it, you need to make sure you're drinking water at lunchtime. Just get into the habit of it. These things are often a habit. Same with a light lunch. You know, maybe you really do fancy a big lunch, but don't have it. Just say, "Okay, you know what? I'll have more for dinner. I need to make sure that I'm prepared for the closing bell because I think there's opportunities here. I don't want to be caught out by not being in my peak mental state when it's such an easy thing to do. " And obviously snacking intelligently. And that's just as simple as not buying the stuff and having it in your desk. But there's always going to be someone a couple of desks down who's got a bag of maltesas or something which might tempt you.
