Don’t use credit cards until you can learn how to be responsible with them… otherwise you’re at a high risk of getting in trouble. The banks do this by design! Don’t fall into the trap… it’s a really hard lesson to learn. Ask me how I know 🥴 #budgeting #budgetingforbeginners #budget #budgetingtiktok #moneymindset

If you can teach yourself how to use credit cards responsibly, they can majorly benefit you. You can get cash back rewards. You can get money contributed to your retirement accounts automatically. You can get travel rewards and travel for free. The problem is that y'all can't teach yourselves how to responsibly use a credit card. So, you try, you put things on a credit card, you mean to pay them off, but you don't. And then you're like, "Oh, what's one more small purchase? I'll pay it off later. Oh, I'm just going to get coffee on my credit card. fast food one time. " The problem is that this snowballs, and before you know it, you owe thousands of dollars to this credit card. And the problem is this credit card has a huge amount of interest. And maybe you are not really understanding how interest works, but it compounds on itself. And so, it gets to a point where you're making your minimum payment, but basically that whole minimum payment is going straight to the bank for interest. You're not really touching your balance that much. And so, your debt might even go up over time with you making the minimum payments. It will take you years to pay that credit card off, and you will pay thousands of dollars for a few thousand dollars worth of stuff. You will pay like double that sometimes. It is not worth it. So, teach yourself how to use a credit card responsibly. Put one thing on it and pay it off immediately. Or use it for something like gas, one specific bill, and go and pay it off immediately. Do not use a credit card if you do not have the money to pay it off in full. This is how you get yourself in trouble, and wake up one day and you're thousands of dollars in credit card debt, and it's a hard mountain to climb out of. I don't want that for you. And if you're in the middle of paying off your debt right now, keep at it, and just know you can get to a point where you are responsibly using your credit cards, and you are reaping the benefits of that. But until then, put the credit cards away.
