Five financial habits that helped me 5x my net worth in 5 years. Stop letting those big banks give you pennies every single year for your savings versus a high yield savings account like the one I have right now that's paying me 4%. I've literally collected hundreds of dollars every month and thousands each year. Number two is actually budgeting. Oh, I tried budgeting, girl, but it didn't work for me. That's like saying, I tried brushing my teeth, but it didn't work for me. It's not something you try. It's something you commit to and you do every single day because it's a necessity. You have to go through your transaction. only takes five minutes, just like brushing your teeth. And sometimes, I'm not even going to lie to you, I'll catch transactions that I did or like I ordered something on Amazon that it was like nice to have, but not something that I need to have, and I will straight up go in there and cancel that order. If you have debt right now, you need to put a debt repayment plan in place. I call this a debt payoff plan in my book, but basically, it's a spreadsheet that tells you every single payment that you need to make towards every single debt that you have in your name, so that you can scroll down and see the last day that you will ever have to make a debt payment. My favorite free website for creating your debt payoff plan is linked in the money guide. The most important financial habit that I developed over the course of my whole life, investing money every single month to make sure that you're not gambling or trying to time the market or jumping in and just trying to make a quick buck or buy low, sell high, and all these other things. Let time work its magic. Let compounding work its magic. You will qualify for the exact same perks and benefits and rates that you would qualify for at a 740 than you would if you had a 800 or 850. been able to take advantage of really amazing offers like a very low interest rate balance transfer. So this would be something like where you'll pay 3% or 4% to move all of the money from your credit card into your checking account. I like to take that cash and invest it. So it was just really supercharging my investing and then I automate my payments every single month towards that credit card so that it's always paid down before the promotion ends. Now of course this comes with some risk because the stock market could go down and the money that I'm investing I still owe back plus 3 or 4%. But that's why I specifically only do it when the interest rate that I'm paying to do the balance transfer is less than the interest rate that I'm getting through my high yield savings account. My book is called Mind Your Money. It's got all the financial literacy basics in here. So go to mindyoumoneybook. com and get your copy.
