## Описание

How do you find common ground when people disagree? Opportunity builder Anuj Gupta and Visit Philadelphia CMO Neil Frauenglass discuss why democracy needs debate and why we all have more political power than we think. They explore whether society is divided or just disconnected, how local action makes a difference and what it takes to rebuild trust when we can't even agree on truth itself.

Idea Knock Down features experts with different perspectives taking on big questions — one block at a time. Made possible with the support Visit Philadelphia.

What's one thing people have more power over than they realize? I do think people have more power over what happens in their local community than they realize. Every morning when I'm walking the dogs, I see something and I email my councilman. — Yeah. — And everybody could do that every single day. Every day. I think that's an action and I hear people complaining all the time and it's as easy as making that call or sending that note to make change and and I see people complain more than take the action to do it. — that exact same dynamic to Capital Hill. As chief of staff to a member of the house, every week I asked my staff to pull a report of the emails, the phone calls, and handwritten letters, particularly those that came in from residents in the district. I would factor that in into what bills I would put the congressman's name on. So, actually it actually still works.
