Today, I'm going to show you something that just changed everything about how AI works with money. Google just dropped something huge that lets AI agents buy stuff for you. But here's the scary part. What happens when your AI buys the wrong thing? Google says they solve this problem, but I'm going to show you why this could be amazing or a total disaster. So, Google just launched something called a P2. That stands for agent payments protocol. And this is massive. Think about this for a second. Right now, when you want to buy something online, you have to do everything yourself. You search for products, you compare prices, you add items to your cart, you enter your payment information, you confirm the purchase. But what if your AI could do all of that for you? What if you could just say, "Find me the best laptop under $1,000 and buy it, and your AI would handle everything? " That's exactly what Google AP2 is designed to do. And 60 major companies already signed up for this. We're talking about Mastercard, PayPal, American Express, and Coinbase. When 60 companies that handle billions of dollars agree on something new, you need to pay attention because this isn't just some tech experiment. This is the future of how people buy things. Hey, if we haven't met already, I'm the digital avatar of Julian Goldie, CEO of SEO agency Goldie Agency. Whilst he's helping clients get more leads and customers, I'm here to help you get the latest AI updates. Julian Goldie reads every comment, so make sure you comment below and let me know what you think. Your AI agent could theoretically buy anything at any time using your money. Imagine you tell your AI, "Buy me some new headphones," and it decides to purchase a $5,000 pair because it thinks those are the best. Or what if it misunderstands what you want and buys 10 of something instead of one? This is why Google created these things called mandates. Think of a mandate like a permission slip that your AI has to get from you before it can spend your money. There are two types of mandates, the intent mandate and the cart mandate. The intent mandate is basically what you told your AI to do, like find me a red jacket under $100. Your device creates a cryptographic record of exactly what you asked for. Then your AI goes shopping. It finds products. It builds a shopping cart. But here's the key part. It can't buy anything yet. Before any money moves, your AI has to show you the exact cart it wants to purchase. Then your device creates a cart mandate. This is your cryptographic signature saying, "Yes, I approve this exact purchase. " Only after you approve both the intent and the cart can the AI actually make the purchase. This sounds good in theory, but let me tell you why I think this could go wrong fast. First problem, what happens when your AI misunderstands what you want? AI agents hallucinate all the time. They make stuff up. They get confused. Let's say you ask your AI to buy me something nice for dinner. Your AI might decide that means a $100 bottle of wine and expensive steaks. But maybe you just wanted pizza. Sure, you get to approve the cart before purchase, but most people don't read the fine print. How many people actually check their receipts? How many people read terms and conditions? I guarantee you people will just click approve without really looking at what their AI wants to buy. Second problem, who's responsible when something goes wrong? If your AI buys the wrong thing, is that Google's fault, the AI company's fault, the merchants's fault, or your fault for approving it? Right now, nobody knows. The legal framework for this doesn't exist yet. Third problem, privacy. Your AI agent will know everything you buy, every purchase, every preference, every financial habit. That data is incredibly valuable. Companies will pay huge money to know exactly what you're willing to spend money on. And your AI agent will have all of that information. But here's why I still think this is going to be huge despite these problems. The convenience factor is insane. Once this works properly, shopping becomes effortless. You just tell your AI what you want and it handles everything. Your AI can compare prices across hundreds of stores instantly. It can find discounts you'd never find yourself. It can track when items go on sale and buy them at the perfect time. For businesses, this is a gold mine. Imagine if your AI agent could automatically reorder supplies when you're running low or automatically pay recurring bills or find better deals on services you already use. Now, let me show you exactly how the technical side works because this is where it gets really interesting. Google built AP2 to work with existing agent standards. The cool part is AP2 works with any payment method, credit cards, bank transfers, even cryptocurrency. The protocol doesn't care how you pay. It just cares about getting proper approval before spending your money. Here's the step-by-step process. Your AI gets an intent from you. Let's say, "Buy me coffee beans under $30. " Your device creates an intent mandate with cryptographic proof of what you asked for. Your AI then searches for coffee beans. It finds options from different stores. It compares prices and reviews. It builds a shopping cart with the best option. But your AI can't buy anything yet. It has to send the cart back to you for approval. Your device shows you exactly what the AI wants to purchase. The specific product, the price, the store, everything. If you approve, your device creates a cart mandate. This is

cryptographic proof that you agreed to this exact purchase. Only then can your AI complete the transaction. The payment goes through your chosen method. Google made all the code open source. You can go to their GitHub right now and see exactly how this works. They have sample code and demos you can run yourself. This tells me Google is serious about making this an industry standard. They're not trying to keep this technology to themselves. They want everyone using it. Now, let's talk about what this means for different people and businesses. If you're a consumer, this could make your life way easier. No more comparing prices across multiple websites. No more forgetting to reorder things you need. No more missing out on sales and discounts. But you need to be careful about what you give your AI permission to do. Start small. Maybe let it handle simple stuff like reordering household supplies. Don't give it access to big purchases until you trust how it works. If you're a business owner, this opens up huge opportunities. You could automate your entire procurement process. Your AI could automatically order supplies when inventory gets low. It could find better deals on services you already use. For developers and tech companies, AP2 creates a whole new market. There's going to be huge demand for AI agents that can shop intelligently. Companies will pay big money for agents that can find better deals and automate purchasing. The key is getting in early. Google just released this protocol. Most companies haven't even heard of it yet. If you start building AP2 compatible systems now, you'll have a major advantage. Now, let me tell you why I think AP2 specifically is going to succeed where other attempts have failed. First, Google has massive distribution. They control Android, Chrome, Google Pay, and tons of other platforms. They can push AP2 adoption faster than almost anyone else. Second, they got buyin from major payment companies early. Having Mastercard, PayPal, and others on board from the start gives AP2 credibility and reach. Third, the timing is right. AI agents are finally good enough to handle complex shopping tasks and consumers are getting comfortable with AI handling more parts of their lives. But there are also ways AP2 could fail. If there are major security breaches or fraud issues early on, it could kill adoption. People are very sensitive about financial security. My prediction is that AP2 or something very similar is going to become standard within the next 2 to 3 years. The benefits are too big for businesses and consumers to ignore, but the early implementations will be limited and careful. Probably starting with low-risk purchases like groceries and household supplies. The companies that build the best AI shopping agents are going to make incredible amounts of money. We're talking about capturing a percentage of trillions of dollars in commerce. Here's what I recommend. If you want to take advantage of this trend, if you're technical, go check out Google's AP2 GitHub repository right now. Download the sample code and start experimenting. Build some simple demos and prototypes. If you're not technical, but you want to get involved, start thinking about business models around AI commerce. What kinds of services will people pay for? What problems need solving? If you're a business owner, think about how AI agents might change your customers behavior. How can you make your products and services AI agentfriendly? You might need to change how you present product information online. AI agents might need different data formats than human shoppers. get ahead of this trend instead of reacting to it later. The bottom line is that AI commerce is coming whether we're ready or not. Google AP2 is just the beginning. The next few years are going to see massive changes in how people buy things. The companies and individuals who understand this trend and position themselves correctly are going to benefit enormously. So, start learning about this stuff now. Experiment with the technology. Think about the implications for your business and your career because this isn't just about shopping. This is about the future of how AI systems interact with the real world and that's going to affect everything. Julian Goldie reads every comment.
