Today I'm going to show you what MIT scientists found when they scanned people's brains while using Chat GBT. The results will shock you. People who use AI tools have half the brain connections of people who don't. But here's the crazy part. Even after they stop using Chat GPT, their brains stay damaged. This could change everything about how we use AI. Hey, if we haven't met already, I'm the digital avatar of Julian Goldie, CEO of SEO agency Goldie Agency. Whilst he's helping clients get more leads and customers, I'm here to help you get the latest AI updates. Julian Goldie reads every comment, so make sure you comment below. So, here's what happened. MIT researchers took 54 students and split them into three groups. Group one got to use chat GPT for writing essays. Group two could only use Google search. Group three had to use just their brains. What they found will make you think twice about using AI. The chat GPT users had brain scans that looked completely different. Their brains showed way less activity, way less connections. It's like parts of their brains went to sleep. But wait, it gets worse. After the study ended, they tested people again. The ones who used Chat GPT before, they couldn't even remember what they wrote. 83% of Chat GPT users couldn't quote their own essays. That's insane. Compare that to people who used just their brains. Only 11% had trouble remembering what they wrote. Think about this. These people wrote the essays themselves, but because they used chat GPT to help, their brains didn't actually learn anything. It's like having a calculator do all your math homework. Sure, you get the right answers, but your brain never learns how to actually do math. Here's the scariest part, though. The researchers did something else. They took people who never used Chat GPT and let them try it for the first time. Their brain scans showed massive activity. Their brains were working overtime to figure out how to use this new tool. But the people who had been using chat GPT for months, their brains barely lit up at all. Their brains had basically given up. They stopped trying to think for themselves. The scientists called this cognitive debt. That's when your brain stops working because you rely too much on outside help. Think about it like this. If you never walk anywhere and always take a car, your legs get weak. Same thing happens with your brain when you always use AI. Now, I'm not saying AI is evil. I use AI tools every day to grow my business. But there's a right way and a wrong way to do it. the wrong way. Letting AI do all your thinking for you the right way. Using AI to speed up tasks while keeping your brain active. Let me tell you what the study actually found. They hooked people up to EEG machines. That's fancy equipment that reads your brain waves. They could see exactly which parts of the brain were working. People who wrote essays without any help showed something called alphaband connections. These are brain pathways that fire when you're being creative and thinking deeply. The chat GPT users had only 42 of these connections. People using just their brains had 79. That's almost double. But here's what really got my attention. They also measured theta band activity. This happens when your brain is working hard to remember things and solve problems. Brain only people 65 connections. Chat GPT people 29 connections. Your brain literally starts shutting down when you rely on AI too much. And remember these weren't dumb people. These were university students, smart kids who knew how to write. But chat GPT made their brains lazy. Here's another crazy finding. The people who use search engines like Google, they were right in the middle. Not as good as brain only people, but way better than chat GPT users. Why? Because when you search on Google, you still have to read multiple sources. think about what information to use. Your brain stays active. With chat GPT, it just gives you an answer. No thinking required. The researchers said something that really stuck with me. They said chat GPT users showed fragmented authorship. That means they didn't really feel like they own their own work. How messed up is that? You write something, but you don't feel like it's yours. This reminds me of when GPS first came out. People stopped learning how to navigate. They became completely dependent on their phones to get anywhere. Same thing is happening with chat GPT and thinking. But here's what really scared the researchers. In the final test, they took people who had been using chat GPT and made them write without it. These people performed worse than complete beginners. It's like the AI had actually made them dumber. The study found they kept using the same phrases over and over. They couldn't think of new ideas they were stuck in mental loops. One researcher said they showed signs of cognitive debt accumulation. That's fancy talk for saying their brains had basically gone into debt. They owed thinking they never did. Now, before you panic and delete chat GPT from your computer, let me tell you what this really means. The problem isn't chat GPT itself. The problem is how people use it. Most people use AI like a crutch. They lean on it for everything. That makes their brain muscles weak. But you can use AI like a tool instead. Here's how smart people do it. First, always try to solve the problem yourself. First, write your first draft without AI. Come up with your own ideas. Then, use AI to improve what you already created. Second, never copy and paste AI responses directly. Always read it, understand it, and

rewrite it in your own words. Third, use AI for tasks that don't require deep thinking, like formatting, checking grammar, or brainstorming ideas you can build on. Think of AI like a research assistant, not a replacement for your brain. Here's what I do in my business. I use AI to help with research and to speed up boring tasks, but all the strategy, all the creative thinking, all the important decisions, that's all me. The moment you let AI do your thinking for you, you're on a path to mental weakness. And here's something the study didn't even cover. What happens to kids who grow up with AI doing their homework? We might be creating a generation of people who can't think for themselves. That's actually an opportunity for people like us who understand this. While everyone else becomes dependent on AI, we can use it smartly to get ahead. The people who learn to use AI as a tool instead of a crutch will dominate the next decade. But you have to be intentional about it. The MIT study showed something else interesting. People who switched from using just their brains to using chat GPT showed massive brain activity at first. Their brains were working hard to figure out how to integrate the AI help. But people who had been using chat GPT for a while showed almost no brain activity. They had become mentally lazy. This tells us something important. Your brain is always adapting. If you train it to be lazy, it becomes lazy. work hard, it gets stronger. The choice is yours. I've seen this in business, too. People who rely too much on automated systems stop understanding their own businesses. When something goes wrong, they have no idea how to fix it. The same thing happens with AI and thinking. Here's my advice. Use AI to amplify your thinking, not replace it. Start every project by thinking through the problem yourself. What are you trying to achieve? What are the main challenges? What solutions can you think of? Then use AI to help you research, refine, and improve your ideas. Never start with AI. Always start with your brain. The study found that people who did this showed the best results. They got the benefits of AI speed without losing their thinking skills. Remember, the goal isn't to avoid AI. The goal is to stay smarter than it. And honestly, this creates a huge opportunity. While everyone else is getting mentally lazy, you can be building mental strength. In 5 years, the people who can think deeply without AI help will be incredibly valuable. Companies will pay big money for people who can solve complex problems, come up with creative solutions, and think strategically. Those skills are becoming rare as more people rely on AI for everything. This is exactly why I'm so focused on building systems that use AI smartly, not as a replacement for human thinking, but as a multiplier for human intelligence. The future belongs to people who can combine human creativity with AI efficiency. But you have to practice using your brain. Just like physical exercise, mental exercise keeps you sharp. Here's what I want you to do right now. Think about how you currently use AI, are you using it as a crutch or as a tool? If you're using it as a crutch, you're hurting your long-term success. Start practicing brain first thinking before you ask Chat GPT anything. Spend 5 minutes thinking about the problem yourself. Write down your own ideas first, then use AI to help improve them. This simple change will keep your brain strong while still getting the benefits of AI speed. The MIT study proves that your thinking skills are use it or lose it. If you stop thinking, your brain stops working. But if you keep challenging yourself while using AI as support, you'll become unstoppable. The choice is simple. Get mentally stronger or get mentally weaker. I know which one I'm choosing. Julian Goldie reads every comment.
