What’s New?

All AI companies are currently competing for the most personalized product. And that's really the story of this week. All the things that we're going to look at now, like improved chatb memories or Gemini's personal intelligence, heck, even the ads that OpenAI wants to introduce into their product, all of them lead back to a more personalized experience, which we're going to discuss this week's episode of AI News. You can use the show that rounds out all the releases with filter for the ones that matter, try them out, and then I get to report them back to you. Welcome in my brand new living room. I'm not sure if this is going to be the fixed new set in the new apartment, but I wanted to kick things off here. So, welcome. And now, let's review some of these stories. Before we do that, one more thing. At the end of this video, I want to have a little discussion about the format of this series, music news. But more on

ChatGPT Memories Update

that in the end. Let's start out by talking about Chat Gypty Memories, the updated version. Am I allergic to memories? Some people might say I am. I mean, I usually teach people to curate their own markdown documents with their own context. But chat GPD memories, if you're not familiar, they're chat GPT's feature that automatically gathers context on you and stores it so that future chats are more personalized and more relevant to you. Jesus. And they've been tweaking these over time. And now we got a big upgrade. It's been 5 days since they shipped this. I still don't have them in my account, but luckily multiple team members had them. And even over here on Gustaf's laptop that is right here, we got to test them out. So, I get to report to you how they actually work, how they behave. And I have an incredible prompt for you to try with your chat account here that will work super well with the new memories. If you don't have them yet, they actually work super well with old memories, too. More on that prompt in a second. But basically, as I said, the theme here is they're trying to personalize your experience more. And in an effort to do that, now you get more control over these memories. you get to see exactly where the information that they used as a reference from the memory they stored comes from. So when it gives you an answer, there's a new sources tab at the bottom, as you can see from this screen recording, that clearly shows you what memory was referenced. Beyond that, they just go deeper. You can reference more than you were able to reference before. It felt like it was a few chats that it kind of just pulled from. Now in the accounts, it feels like a way wider set of data from all of your chats. And it looks like the main improvement here stems from looking at previous chats in more depth rather than just referencing the memories that it saved by itself. Meaning it is uses your entire account as context. But then it's very specific about what it's referencing in case you had conversations that don't matter, which usually is the common problem with memories. Anyway, let's get practical here. Let me show you a thing that you can really do here with these new and improved memories. And it's a prompt that I found over here on Reddit that I want to share here with you. And I think you're absolutely gonna love this one because I did and turns out me and you are kind of similar. That's why you're watching this show. So look, based on everything you know about me from our full chat history and memory, give me 10 high leverage ways I should be using AI that I haven't yet considered. Prioritize ideas that are tailored to my habits, goals, and work life patterns, even if they're unconventional or unexpected. Boy oh boy, does this work well. If you just send this with memories enabled, by the way, go to settings, personalization, scroll down, and make sure to have these on, especially reference chat history. This prompt thrives off the chat history. It goes in and it shows you some things that genuinely surprise me. Some things that I haven't thought about. Some of these I've already done, but this idea of analyzing decisions 30, 60, 90 days later and have it extract biases and context and then reflecting on it where intuition beat my logic. I really like this. And there's many more of these. So you could just do this for yourself rather than me just showing the examples of things that are relevant to me. Just do it for yourself and get results that will be personalized to you. And with the memories, it should work better than ever. If you're enjoying getting practical prompts like this that you can use right away, then make sure to subscribe to the channel cuz this is what we do here at the advantage. Okay

Gemini Personal Intelligence

let's see what's next. In the same theme, our stories here continue because Gemini also released personal intelligence and yet again somehow it didn't ship to my computer. We have multiple team members who actually have it. It's not a location dependent thing. Yes, we tried VPNs and all that. Google just has the weirdest rollout schedule. Anyway, that release is very similar to what memories do here. And it doesn't just look into your chat history. It also looks into your YouTube history and your Google Chrome history. Yes, they're using your YouTube browsing history to inform new chats in Gemini. Now, well, first up, I think this is very powerful. Of course, it can also be very misleading cuz some of those late night binges or maybe something you're falling asleep to doesn't really represent your interests accurately, but then also there's the whole privacy question mark. Like, will they just be looking into every history of every behavior ever eventually? But yeah, turns out it's already happening. It's called personal intelligence. It's probably available in your Gemini account if you have a paid one. Beyond these two histories that I mentioned, there's more. It can connect your Google Photos, your Gmail, and just pull in all that context and can reason over all of it. But this is just version one of it. But the direction they're going in is clear here. It's a more personalized experience. I've been teaching this over the past few years, showing people how to craft documents that express all of their context and their hidden beliefs and their goals so that AI can kind of fill in the gap between where you're at right now and what you're doing and what your ultimate goals are. If you give it all that context, it will perform better. But yeah, all of these releases are basically trying to automate that.

Google Trends Update

Here's the next update, and this is a minor one, but I think it is significant. So there's a site called Google Trends. It's just trends. google. com. You might notice already, but basically you can look at how certain terms are trending across the world, right? So I can look for chat GPT. Then I could filter and maybe say just United States. Just go to web searches. Maybe flip that to 5 years. And I could see that there has been a real rise. But ever since November 25, it's kind of been going downhill. Now I could add a second search term, right? I could add Gemini, which is Google's competitor. And then we can see that. Oh, okay. Chat GPT has been on the decline, but actually Gemini has been going up in the months that Chat GPT was going down. Sort of. It's not perfect. You could even do it for YouTube searches. Like, so let's do that quickly. Oh wow, there Gemini overtook Chat GBT. Interesting. But here's the thing. Instead of doing this manually, you can now suggest terms with AI. And this is really powerful because you might not be aware what a good thing to compare is. So, let me just start with chat GPT. And this time, let's do worldwide. And now if you hit this button here that's new suggest search terms and by the way this is free and I'm going to start with chat GPT as my search term here it actually gives me this recommendation of comparing chat to Gemini but then beyond that we can maybe contrast it to copilot and it just populates that setup and we'll see. Okay, this is not much relevance. Let's try one more. How about RAM? That's the working memory in your computer that got so expensive recently basically because big tech companies are buying it up. So you can see it populates all of these other computer parts as trends and web search and you can compare all of them and it just makes using this trends interface so much easier. So there you

ChatGPT with Ads

go. And then we have a few quick hits to round this out. So one of them is directly relating to chat GBT and it's the fact that they're rolling out ads. I don't want to spend too much time on this but this is a significant event. It's only going to happen for the free plan and their $8 go plan that many people don't even know existed. They'll basically try to deliver a more premium experience that is only available on paid plans on the free plan through ads. I don't think that's a bad thing per se. Consumers at the end of the day have a lot of alternatives and they will pick the thing that just works the best for them. Right now we're already seeing an exodus of chatb users moving to Gemini and I don't really see how OpenAI introducing ads will help that but maybe they'll surprise us. I'll cover it more once the ads arrive here though. And
7:42

ChatGPT Age Prediction

along with that, there's a second story which is OpenAI also rolling out age predictions where it looks at your chats and it determines your age and if you're under 18, it's going to restrict the type of answers it can give you. I mean, there's a whole discussion to be had here of people trying to fool different websites like YouTube since forever. Basically, if you're not aware, if you look into YouTube analytics, you'll see that you have no viewers under 18 because everybody picks a grown-up age just so they get all the content. I don't see how this would be different inside of chat, but I understand that they need to introduce this in order to serve ads so that they can filter out

Anthropic Economic Index Report

miners. And then lastly, Enthropic released another version of their economic index report for 2026. And there's one finding out of the whole thing that I really want to highlight because it supports the way I run this channel and it also supports the type of education and my philosophy that I do. And it's a fact stated in there that says that today's AI is best used as a force multiplier to something that you're already good at. You can draft, edit, summarize. It can help with coding. planning. But what it can't do yet reliably is endto-end automation where you just completely delegate some task and just give away control to the AI. And we created some great videos around cloud co-work recently. I strongly recommend you check those out because I think that's the closest thing to consumers being able to fully automate tasks. It's not magic, but there's a lot of things it can do that previous versions couldn't do. And yeah, those are the stories for today. But hold on for a second. Actually, while we're on this topic of, you know, separate video and this video that kind of mushes a lot of topics together, I have something that I really want your opinion on. And that's a discussion we've been having internally with the production team. And it's the fact that this format, music and news, is one for us becoming harder and harder to produce, but two, we also find that for our audience, the videos that focus on one thing and really show you how to get a specific result or really dive a little deeper on a topic might even better serve you as the viewer of this. In other words, we're currently weighing this decision of actually stopping this news and use format and rather doing a Friday video which dives a bit deeper on one thing and we really focus on that one story rather than trying to hit that and seven other stories all at once. I know it'd be easier and more fulfilling for me to make that. That's for sure. But I'm not doing these channels for fulfillment of myself. I'm doing this for you. I really want the videos here to land with you, the audience and the community on this channel. So, I would love to hear your thoughts. Do you find great value in the fact that we round out all these releases into one video and kind of go over them, or would you prefer us maybe doing two videos that go deeper on two specific topics that we think are the most significant? Leave a comment below. And with that being said, I hope you have a wonderful day.
