Intro: The Magic of AI Storybooks!

Ever wished you could instantly transform your  child's doodles into a thrilling adventure? Or   turn a cherished family photo into one-of-a-kind  story book you could actually color? Well,   get ready to be amazed. Today, I'm diving  into the incredible world of Gemini Storybook,   a fantastic feature in Google's Gemini  that lets you create personalized   illustrated stories using the power of AI. Hi, I'm Jamie and welcome to Teachers Tech. I've  been playing around with Gemini Storybook and I'm   absolutely blown away by its potential. It can  take your text prompts, your photos, and even   your artwork and weave them into a beautiful  narrated story book with a huge variety of   illustration styles. Today, I'm going to walk  you through four unique examples showcasing just   how versatile and fun this tool can be. We'll be  exploring features like uploading your own media,   choosing from different illustration styles, and  even creating a printable coloring book. So, let's   jump right in and unleash your imaginations. For  our first demo, we're tapping into the magic of

personalization. We're going to take a drawing my  son made of his favorite toy, this beat up old red   truck he calls Rusty, and turn it into an amazing  adventure. This perfectly showcases how Gemini   Storybook lets you upload your media to fuel your  stories. Let's go ahead and take the picture I   just showed you of Rusty. I have it right here  on my desktop. I'm just going to drag this in.    And now I'm going to prompt it. You don't have to  give it a big detailed prompt, but I like giving   a little bit more information to get closer to  what I'm looking for. So, I said, "Create a story   book. " You need to tell it to make a story book  so it knows what it's doing. Create a story book   about a small old red toy truck named Rusty. Based  on the uploaded drawing, who enters the great toy   race against the bigger newer monster trucks? He  uses a small size and cleverness to win. And I   said, "Make the illustration style in claimation. "  You don't have to specify all that, but I kind of   am looking for something in claimation. I'm going  to go ahead and submit this. And what you're going   to see since I told it to create a story book,  you're going to see that down here, it's going   to come up and working on creating the story book.   Remember to prompt it to do so. So, you notice now   we're opening canvas part where it's created the  story book. And look, we have Claymation. Well,   this truck looks a little familiar here. And uh  Rusty's Great Race. I'm going to click on it and   notice it just turns the page. So, we definitely  have claimation here. So, Rusty the little red   truck wasn't the biggest or shiniest toy in the  playroom, but he had the biggest heart. One day,   a bright poster appeared. We kind of get the idea  here. So, I can go and continue. It's a little bit   longer on that page, but as I click through, I'm  just clicking on the page. You notice how it even   uh bends up as I hover over if I want to go  backwards. Some other options. You can even   listen to this. So, if I click listen, you're  going to hear that it will start reading. It's   just loading. Boom. Deep voice. A giant shiny  blue monster truck named Mer rolled up. I'm   going to go ahead and pause that. I think you  understand what's happening. If you drop down,   you can pick a lower pitched voice uh on it.   And you can see how you can go to full screen,   start from beginning. Some other things you can  do, you can share this as well. So, if I go ahead   and click share storybook, you can see how I can  go right to LinkedIn or Facebook or X or Reddit,   but I can copy this link and I can go ahead and  share this with somebody else and they can open   up the story book I just created. Now, I want to  point out uh with this too, I'm just going to hit   the exit the full screen. You can't go through  and edit any of the words in this. You'd have to   recreate the story book here. But, so this is our  first example. Let's do a few more here. Next up,   we're going to explore how Gemini Story Book can  be used for more than just fun tales. Let's tackle   a common childhood experience. Getting glasses for  the first time. We can create a story that turns   this potentially scary event into something  positive, highlighting the customal nature   of stories and the power of choosing the right  illustration style to convey a specific mood. Now,

in the first example, I just told it to  create a story book right inside the prompt,   and it did that. I do want to point out if  you open the side panel and look at gems,   you have story book over here. So, this has been  created that it knows to create a story book. So,   I could just tell it what I want here, and it's  going to go ahead and create a story book. So,   there's multiple ways you can do this. All right,  let's move on to our next example. All right,   let's do the prompt from within the gem here.   Write a story about a shy little kitten named   Jasper who is worried about getting glasses. When  he puts them on, he discovers he can see wonders   in the world, like patterns on butterfly wings  and smiles on friends faces. the illustration   style to be soft focused. So, I'm going to submit  this and we'll see what we get. All right. Again,   less than a minute this took. Let's take a quick  look at here. Jasper the kitten was a very shy   little fellow. He liked to keep his eyes down,  watching his paws as he walked. He worried if he   looked up the world would be too big and bright  and blurry. So, we have him getting the glasses.    It looks like we have the name brought in. I want  to look at when he gets the glasses. There's the   butterfly. Remember I mentioned the butterfly.   So I just wanted to point out if there's specific   things that you want to make sure that you  put it in your prompt. So we can see all the   ways that it's exploring. It's in a very soft  friendly tone to this exactly what I asked it   to create. Notice that these are 10 pages long.   All these books will be in that range of 10   pages. Now let's dive into how Gemini Story Book  can be a fantastic learning tool. We're going to

take a somewhat complex topic and turn it into an  engaging story for young child. We'll be uploading   pictures and a PDF full of information. We'll  see again how choosing a vibrant illustration   style can make learning fun and memorable.   So, here's the information that I'm going to   be uploading. There are just a couple pictures. I  have these cloud pictures here and a puddle. And   I have this PDF document I'll open up quickly.   It was from a website that I turned into a PDF,   but if you have a PDF, you can go ahead and  upload this, too. So, let's go ahead and take   this information. I'm going to just grab it all  and drag it over. Now, let's add our prompt here.    We're going to say, "Create a story book for a  seven-year-old that explains the water cycle. " So,   remember the age appropriateness. If you tell it,  it will match that. Uh, using the information in   the attached document, the main character is a  happy water droplet named droplet Dave. Tell the   story of his adventure getting warmed up by the  sun, floating up to the clouds, and then falling   back down and making the puddles. So, we want a  cartoon style, bright cartoon style, whimsical.    I'm going to send this off. Let's see the story  book that we get from this. Now, right away,   I have to give it a little credit for being honest  here. It says, "I hope you and your child enjoy   it. The story may not be 100% faithful to any of  the uploaded files or image. " Well, that's good   to know. And when I uploaded that information,  I was kind of thinking, too, this is just for   uh simplicity as the uh seven-year-old, so it  probably wouldn't need a lot of that information.    I just wanted to show you the possibility of  adding other things than just pictures as well.    But let's take a look. We have droplet Dave here.   We have our story. Um, as it goes through the sun   is heating it up. It is well must be turning into  a gas here. It's going up into the sky to the   clouds. Oh, it's getting heavier. Is it going  to fall? And then it's going to fall as rain.    So, this is a fun way to start to explain the  water cycle to a 7-year-old. And remember, you can   share this out. You can listen to this just like I  showed you before. For our final demo, we're going

Demo 4: Family Photo to a Printable Coloring Book!

to combine the power of uploading your own media  with a truly unique feature, creating a printable   coloring book. This is perfect for making memories  interactive and adding another layer of fun. So,   I'm going to take these pictures right here that  I took from my phone. We were at the beach or at   the lake the other day. So, I'm just going to  take these as a reference point here and place   them in. I'm just going to give my prompt now.   Based on this photo of a family at the beach,   create a story book about finding them, finding  a mysterious bottle washed up on the shore with   a secret message inside. So, I'm really kind of  curious. Will it take these pictures and start to   frame around this? I wanted it to be in coloring  book style to be printed. Let's send this off. All right. So again, I can see it kind of gave me  the same message here, but let's see what we get   here. So we have the secret of the sunken bottle.   Let's open it up. So it did pull out the pontoon   and the mat as well. So it's pulling out features  from those. So it's starting to make this story   what I asked it to do with a reference. Now,  it's probably something I'd want to redo again   because I notice here something went wrong. Gemini  couldn't generate this image. As I move forward,   it seems to be working. So if you do get errors  like this without the pictures, I would say to   uh redo it, prompt it again and see what would  happen. So as we go through, I'll go through a   few different examples. Here's the pontoon again.   So it is pulling things out of those images. If we   go up to here to print, we can prepare our story  book. So as soon as I click this, you notice it's   preparing it. And now you can see it popped up  with print features to it where I can save it as   a PDF or I can uh hit print from here. So you have  some options if you want to use this as a coloring   book as a fun interactive way. Give it a try.   What kind of stories will you create? I'd love to   hear your ideas in the comments below.
