Spotlight search operators

with Spotlight diving right into an example if I just type in hot Spotlight returns a bunch of random results from contacts to folders to photos of hot models but if I type kind setting hot instead Spotlight brings me to the Hot Corner setting directly which was what I was actually looking for other than settings I find myself filtering most frequently for contacts events folders PDF documents and images you can also use the arrow keys to navigate the results press space to preview and confirm this is the file you're looking for and press command enter to instantly bring up the file in finder Pro tip you

Spotlight settings for productivity

the location of the spotlight search bar you can drag it to wherever you want and it'll stay there until you hold down option and the spotlight icon here and it'll pop back to the center Pro tip head on over to kind setting Spotlight go to Siri and Spotlight settings scroll all the way down and uncheck Siri suggestions tips and websites to declutter your results moving over to productivity tips on Safari you might already know that you can click on file

Webapp workflow

add to Doc to create a web app you can access directly from your dock but in my opinion this is actually not that helpful until you realize you can now run this new web app directly from Spotlight saving you from having to open up a browser and click on the tab and this is how I access chat GPT directly from Spotlight Pro tip if you want to uninstall web apps simply search for them in Spotlight command enter to reveal their location in finder and drag them to the trash or my personal favorite the completely free app cleaner app pro tip if you right click on an app within the application's folder show package contents resources you now have access to a highdefinition image of their app icon back in Safari

How to use Apple Notes productively

already familiar with a keyboard shortcut for adding hyperlinks command K but you probably didn't know that even without any text selected you can press command K to link to another note by typing in that note's title and it looks something like this Pro tip you can use the keyboard shortcut double angle bracket to quickly link to an existing note or to create and link to a completely new note you might have also noticed all my notes have tags at the top here this allows me to create smart folders that automatically organize my notes based on those tags for example all new meeting notes are automatically added to the meeting notes smart folder if you end up manually searching for a note simply type in the first few letters of that note title and you'll jump directly to that note this also works if you're looking for a file in finder and if you're trying to find a specific font within a Mac app I like to

use a new formatting options in notes for a more structured look and if we bring up Spotlight kind setting accessibility display text size I select the biggest font size for notes because by default if you create a new note the font size is Tiny oh you can also manually change a size by pressing command shift period or comma but I don't want to do that every time and here are three bonus settings to enable for a more productive MacBook first up

bring up Spotlight kind setting Hot Corner shortcuts and When selecting a shortcut hold down shift to prevent yourself from accidentally activating that Hot Corner second if an app becomes unresponsive right click on the app within the dock hold down option and select force quit third under keyboard settings which you can bring up kind setting keyboard like so under the text input option here select edit and I turn off show inline predictive text and correct smelling automatically because let's be real we never really mean to say duck off if you enjoy these tips you might want to check out the first 18 things to do when setting up your Mac see you on the next video in the meantime have a great one
