Segment 1 (00:00 - 02:00)

I'm here with Sophia, uh, first year in Can Hall class of 2029, and Sophia's gonna tell us a little bit about her project Pian Notes. So first of all, Sophia, what is Pian Notes? So Pianoes is sort of like an online community for classical pianists. Um, I created so that there's an interface towards this other like more wiki-based style, but this is more of a community where people can post on the reviews and their. Thoughts about specific pieces um and it's just a good way to explore new pieces and like hear more from other pianists about a pretty like niche topic. Well, very cool. Could you show us a little bit around the website how it works? Yeah, so the website's really geared towards people logging in. You can see here that it's like both here and here that it wants you to log in really badly, uh, so I'm gonna do that. You can also register obviously um. I know it's the, the peak of it is gonna be in February. I know it's not. OK, once I'm logged in, you can see that like um, it tracks basically what pages you're looking at, um, and you can browse pieces by going through the database right now you can see that I have 920 pieces, 170 composers on here, and 2007 reviews, and 18 pianists, which are the number of registered users, um, one of my favorite pages. Is if you go to Joe uh the desk, that's one of my favorite pieces, um, you can see that like every person can write exactly one review. This prevents people from like spamming reviews and spamming, um, like the number of votes that they can get and you can also upload and download other people's reviews like, uh, that's another one to me. So I'm not blowing that, but, um, it doesn't override anyone's opinions on it, and it's to focus, um, like the ability for people to like see how other people are looking at a piece, uh, and it's like sort of screen on the top. All right, well, very cool. Uh, thanks for showing us, and I wanna ask you, how is your, how is, uh, piano's different from other online piano forums or communities? Oh yeah, OK, so I think there's a lot of, uh, weird little forums for classical pianists. There's some that are like almost like 90s style blog posts where everyone just like it's in a long like community swelling things. Where people are just debating constantly, like another community that people use is like our slash piano or slash pianists. Um, that is also a place where there's a lot of debate, and there comes a part where people are like washed out and post notes on it. So this is just so everyone gets their opinion heard and like it can be seen, um, like one of my favorite parts of this specific page is that everyone has a positive view on it except for Juan's List, the composer. All right, very cool. Solvia, thank you so much for sharing your project with us. It's a very good project, and this was CS 50.
