it doesn't matter if you're a veteran YouTuber or a Tik Tock Refugee if you're looking to grow on YouTube in 2025 these are problems that you have to be aware of and address if you really want to find success on the platform and the first one is algorithm overload with so many Tik Tok refugees who are obviously going to be migr to the platform competition is going to be stiff so whether Tik Tock is finally banned or not doesn't matter this is actually going to happen no matter what because if Tik Tok is not banned it is enough of a scare and it was close enough and real enough that most creators on Tik Tok are going to take Serious the cost to action that people have been telling them for the longest to diversify their platform presence and we all know that YouTube is a very viable option for American creators now Tik Tok refugees are going to face some challenges because the YouTube algorithm does not work the same as the Tik Tok algorithm and when you think about the fact that YouTube recently increased the length of YouTube shorts from 90 seconds to 3 minutes I actually think it was a preemptive move by YouTube to keep these libraries of content from Tik Tok from flooding the long form content feed and really affecting their advertising model because let's be honest that's where the money is made as far as advertising for creators and YouTube and everything that's stre minutes are under which for a long time was the primary Tik Tock format is going to be placed in the shorts feed so that's going to help Stave off some of the impact of that from YouTube itself and also from creators on YouTube who create long form content and so that presents a very particular challenge for Tik Tok creators because the way YouTube is set up now by default all Tik Tok refugees will be treated as short form content creators on YouTube because their content is generally not that long and so if you're a Tik Tock Refugee wanting to move to YouTube and monetize your content you're going to have to rethink your strategy and your approach to what you create if you're a YouTube veteran who focuses primarily on long form content and that's how you build your audience then the Tik Tok ban is probably not going to hurt your views unless people get drawn away into shorts but if you're a YouTube short form content creator then you are most definitely going to be impacted by the Tik Tok refugees who are uploading libraries of content to YouTube going directly into the shorts feed and that brings us to the second problem long form content versus short form content and the impact that this is going to have on it because as I said earlier these changes can draw the interest of people who typically view long form content to watch the longer shorts because they're more interesting maybe they're speaking about relevant topics or current events or something else that actually interest viewers and right now YouTube shorts most of what I see going viral is memes and funny videos but who knows how the algorithm May treat these new pieces of content that will be uploaded to YouTube in a few days veteran YouTubers like myself who focus on long form content need to be intentional about hooking people to watch the video faster in fact I've completely done away with intros for the most part and I try to just get to the content as quickly as possible because that seems to work best for me but on the flip side if you're a Tik Tock Refugee who's looking to monetize their content on YouTube and replace the income you had from the Tik Tok creative reward fund then you're really going to want to start lengthening your content and find ways to make videos that are longer than 3 minutes you have to keep people engage more but regardless of all of this everyone is kind of coming to an agreement that the people who watch shorts and Longs on YouTube are different audiences and so there's a strategy for using shorts and Longs and there's not necessarily a space where you shouldn't use either one anymore and this is going to look different for different people but primarily for YouTube veterans you need to make sure that you're doing your best to do it better and if you're someone coming over from Tik Tok then you want to make sure that you're leveling up the actual production of your videos as far as lighting sound quality and all of those things but above everything I want you to focus on value make sure every video you upload educates entertains or inspires in some meaningful way and also invest in improving yourself whether that means buying a new mic buying a new camera getting a new lighting setup setting up a YouTube studio in your home reading more books so that you have more to give and share working on your other

soft skills so that you can improve your content and your credibility and overall your personal brand because that's really what's going to help you stand out on YouTube more than anything else when people know your name and so you're working on standing out you you're putting your plan together and now you're actually doing it so there's another problem that this Tik Tok band is going to cause that overlaps with what we discussed earlier but I'm going to try to sum it up here but that's a problem of community audience loyalty because not only can the engagement on your long form videos shift to YouTube shorts because your viewers habits are changing but as someone who is coming over from Tik Tok uploading their Tik Tok content the danger in that is that you can take off and go viral and build an audience of people who watch your short form content doesn't make any Financial impact or financial sense for you to actually be doing that on YouTube because you're not going to be Mak making the money that you want to make and if you're someone who's coming over from Tik Tok and the majority of your videos are 3 minutes or shorter this may actually backfire against you because there's a possibility that your videos can do very well on YouTube and you actually end up building an audience of people who watch your short form content the problem with that is that on YouTube people who watch your short form content are typically not community-minded and so building a relationship with them is very difficult using the shorts feed now you may not care about that but if you care about brand deals monetizing your content if you care about building your online presence then you don't want to build an audience of people who are not community-minded because that can completely violates the monetization equation and the monetization equation is simply this the amount of money you make online is equal to the engagement and the community that you're able to create so you may get the likes views that's the engagement but if you cannot build a community then you cannot monetize your online presence it's just that simple not with Organic content anyways if you're running ads that's something different and so this problem just kind of circles back to a lot of the problems that I already discussed as far as your content quality how you're going to adjust and adapt to this new YouTube landscape whether you're coming from Tik Tok or whether you're already on YouTube and you're expecting YouTube to change in some way in the future because of all of this new content and all of these new creative minds and styles that are now contributing to the net positive experience of YouTube so not only may your engagement and your watch time go down but what you're getting paid from your videos on YouTube may also go down as well because if people aren't watching your videos obviously you're getting less views earning less money but also as these new YouTube creators upload their cont content qualify for monetization and they start earning money it's more people to split the money with and so it all comes down to who's getting the views because that's who gets the money obviously if you're looking to really make money from your content then loan format content is going to pay you the best there are some shorts creators who always get millions of views who do well with YouTube shorts that's fine but they are not the rule they are the exception because on average YouTube pays pennies for shorts whereas they pay dollars for Longs so I recommend that you use both formats in 20125 and do your best to stay in the watch history of your audience so that the YouTube algorithm can continue to recommend your content to your audience and followers and even find new people for you with shorts so that your channel is discovered even if it's on an incremental level I think in the long run that it can add up and help you to some degree especially if you're repurposing your longer videos into shorts that's a very low effort way to benefit from the possible Discovery from YouTube shorts and so while we're talking about long form video versus short form video we also have to keep in mind that on some level I believe viewers viewing habits are actually being impacted and possibly changing over time as well and that brings us to the third problem which is audience expectations so again as the Tik Tock refugees come to you YouTube they begin to finally start their YouTube channels uploading their great content which they do have and that content possibly begins to Trend catch traction it can most definitely change the viewing habits of the people who regularly set down and watched your 8 to 10 minute videos to where now they're more engaged with these different creators not just their content but their personalities their personal Brands Etc so now your monthly returning viewers don't typically watch your content as often or as long as they

used to so you may need to adopt a faster pce style in delivering your content so that you don't lose your audience's attention and your engagement doesn't drop people very well may get used to getting everything within a 3 minute time frame and so an 8 minute video may become insufferable to them and that's something that you just have to be prepared for and if you're a Tik Tok Refugee who's looking to build a very strong community on YouTube then something you have to realize is that the demographics on YouTube are so much broader than they are on Tik Tok the majority of the US presence on Tik Tok is 35 and younger whereas on YouTube you have everyone on the Spectrum from young kids to the elderly everyone is on YouTube on Tik Tok Quick Cuts and quick edits are enough for some people to get by and get a lot of views but on YouTube people are actually looking for substance even if it's entertainment they're looking for substance I want you to think about Mr Beast in the Beast games these big Productions that he puts on and how very well produced that content is from him and even from other creators this is the kind of content you're going to be competing with and you need to find some type of way to modify your delivery your Tik Tock delivery so that it's able to embrace a wider viewership when it comes to your shorts they're probably recognize that these are most likely your Tik toks and they'll give you Grace but when it comes to your horizontal long form content they're going to have a certain expectation as far as the quality goes not necessarily the cuts or the edits but the substance of the video and this is critical for watch time because on YouTube watch time is a very important statistic even if not for the algorithm pushing your content for the growth of your own personal brand and your community because the longer people spend time with you the more they get to know you the more of a community that you're able to actually build and so whereas on Tik Tok the longest amount of time a person can spend with you is 10 minutes max in a single video the potential for building a deeper audience is just so much greater on YouTube because the length of the videos you're able to upload is so much longer but it's not just Tik Tock refugees or creators who are going to be coming to YouTube and loading libraries of content the people who actually used Tik Tok for entertainment they're probably most likely going to be coming to YouTube for Content as well a lot of the people who are coming over from Tik Tok already use YouTube but they're going to be using it much more often and so they may have long form viewing habits on YouTube and those May strengthen over time as YouTube recommends videos on the home screen and they watch them or they may grow towards the short form video content format either way you need to make sure that as a veteran YouTuber or a Tik Tok Refugee that you're doing your best to stand out of the platform if you're already on YouTube you can expect to see your monetization potentially drop because I do believe that some people who typically watch YouTube content will be drawn to some of this new Tik Tok content that's being uploaded to the shorts feed obviously this problem is going to be bigger and more important for some people more than others because some people depend entirely on YouTube ad Revenue but the most experienced creators know you have to have your own offer solution or product that you offer to your community that helps you monetize your online presence yourself and if you don't know how to create an offer don't worry about it it's very simple it's an offer to help someone what can you help them with they're not nine different components that make up an offer so irresistible that a person feels stupid saying no to if you want to use my free AI tool that will write your offer for you based off of a few details about your audience then use the link in the description to download it today and that brings us to the last problem adapting to The New Normal platforms are always changing when they change the people who Embrace those changes receive the biggest benefits and the people who resist those changes miss their greatest opportunities if you're a YouTube veteran and you're like man all of these people are going to be coming over from Tik Tok and uploading their content and it's going to impact it and you have a certain idea of how you believe it's going to impact the platform and you're afraid to embrace that change if what you think is going to happen actually transpires and you don't Embrace that change you're going to miss a great opportunity and so my advice is if you're already on YouTube be prepared to
