Soy is very rich in phytoestrogens. So it sounds like estrogen. So the concern is does soy cause breast cancer? But the truth is we don't see that. If anything we see the opposite. Women with breast cancer who consume more soy actually have a lower risk of dying and of recurrence the cancer coming back. This is because in breast tissue phytoestrogens actually do the opposite of mamalian estrogen. They counter the effect of estrogen. Soy intake may also lower the risk of lung cancer in never smokers. Okay, how much soy is good? One to two servings a day is recommended. One serving of soy would be, for example, 1 cup of soy milk, 3 ounces of tofu, or half a cup of Adami.
