Jaw surgery healing process (and unexpected news)

I had to go for a second emergency surgery. Exactly a week after my first surgery, my surgeon was like, "Something doesn't look right. " And I was like, "What? " He's like, "One of the plates here possibly have slipped out of position and you're going in for a surgery 5:00 p. m. today. Stop eating as of now and see you this evening. " I was like, "Oh my goodness. " The second surgery went really well. They put two plates in here. Turns out while he was operating there, you can see there's a little scar there as well. I don't know what he was doing on the outside as well. He found a piece of bone sticking out. So, he I don't know fixed the bone as well. I am so sick and tired of drinking soup and blending everything. I have blended steak, sausages, potatoes, tomatoes. I've made some really funky combinations of mush and soups. It's been about one month, so as you can imagine, I miss eating cookies through a waror. Having a terrible time, but I can't complain. It truly is for the best. I don't choke as much when I swallow pills. Can breathe better. And I'm sure once the pain is gone, the swelling that I will notice my sleep is better, too, cuz no more sleep apnnea. I am still completely numb around this area. I'm trying to remember what my face looked like before the swelling, but if you've watched my last update video, you can see all of the what is a blank called the bruises. All of the bruises have gone. There was like this green one here and this red one here. So, I am a lot better. I still have a fair amount of pain. And if you've been following me on Instagram, you will see that a lot of my stories were about my teeth not aligning. It's tricky to explain, but if you look at any of my videos before this surgery, this gum was showing more. This bone here was tilted like so. And during the surgery, they also cut the bone there to make it like that. So, I can't smile properly because it's not aligned. I kind of do that like so. You can see there's not any gum showing here. I don't know how I feel about it because I'm not used to it. I just look completely different to myself. If the bone was like so and they cut it and now it's like so obviously the teeth are not going to be aligning here. All right. So, I have to kind of make an underbite and then move it sideways. Okay. It's hard to explain, but I only have three teeth touching on this side, so I can't really chew because it's kind of open here. I went to the surgeon this morning for a checkup. He is happy. I am freaking out cuz I'm feeling like nothing's aligning the whole time. But if he's happy, then I guess I'm happy. I still can't feel anything around my lips. So, it's really embarrassing when I'm in front of people trying to eat because I still can't feel really where my mouth is. A spoon, I'm like, where is it? Eating with a mirror is quite helpful. I feel like a baby. And drinking coffee and water, drinking anything, I just spill it over myself the whole time. So, I have to wear one of those. Put my napkin here and really like a baby. Hospital bills. Uh the original first surgery was 133,000 rand. The second surgery anesthesiologist surgery hospital stay was about 34,000 rand extra. The Lord will provide. It is insane, but we pushed through. If you've ever watched a Lefort osteotomy video, um first of all, prepare yourself. It is disgusting. I got sick watching it. They cut like here inside right at the top whatever they cut here. So this whole area inside has stitches and I also have two plates here. So those stitches being here for a month and me having like all my gums numb and pain. The stitches got an infection because pieces of food or whatever get stuck in it. I know it is disgusting. And I had some almost like nerve damage. It feels like a wasp sting. When I was speaking, I heard like a snap sound. And I got a nerve running here. Insanely electric shock, painful going up all the way from my nose to here. And this whole area started going even more numb. Surgeon says it's just the life coming

back here. I have about like 20% feeling, 0% feeling here. It's so bizarre. And like 10% feeling on this side. If it is just the life coming back, that sure is painful. I just hope it's not nerve damage. But he knows what he's doing. So that's my update. Honestly, thank you so much everybody for your well wishes, your messages, and your prayers. It means the world.
