Writing Notes by Hand Helps You Learn More

Studies have shown that when people take notes by hand, they are likely to retain more information than when they type. Studies also show that people oftentimes have a deeper understanding of the concepts in which they take notes on. This makes sense because you actually have to think about what you're writing down and digest it to be able to take notes. Whereas, if you're typing, you can just type everything that you hear without really thinking it through. Additionally, by taking notes by hand, you may find that you're simply less distracted in class. If you have your computer sitting in front of you in class, you may be tempted to go online or do something other than pay attention to class.
