Segment 1 (00:00 - 04:00)

We all know relationships are crucial to well-being and performance at work, but many assume good relationships occur naturally between people who share similar interests and personalities. So what happens when coworkers are quite different? Maybe even opposites in how they think or act? Are those relationships doomed? The answer is not at all. Strong, productive relationships can be built between any two people, no matter the differences, and these relationships matter. In a survey of eight-hundred professionals, we found the most important factor in a team's performance isn't its size or diversity. It's the strength of the relationships between its members. So how do you build better relationships at work? That's where the Strength Deployment Inventory comes in. The Strength Deployment Inventory, or SDI, is an online personality assessment based on decades of social science research. Since 1971, more than five million people have used the SDI to better understand themselves and improve how they relate to others. The SDI gives you four unique views of yourself: motives, conflict, strengths, and overdone strengths. Let's take a look at each one. First, Motives. At the heart of the SDI is your unique Motivational Value System or your MVS. This is your personal blend of three fundamental motives: people, performance, and process. Your MVS reveals what motivates you when things are going well. Understanding this helps you make better decisions and communicate more effectively. Second, Conflict. Now what if things aren't going well? How do you show up? The SDI shows you how your motives change when you're in conflict. This is your unique conflict sequence, how your behavior changes when your values feel threatened. Knowing this helps you understand your conflict style and respond more constructively when things get tense. Third, Strengths. The SDI also provides a map of your strengths, the behaviors you use to get results and build relationships. Your personalized strengths portrait shows you how you tend to approach tasks, and people, giving insight into how others experience your behavior. And finally, you'll also get insight into your Overdone Strengths. Even our best qualities can backfire when pushed too far. You're overdone strengths are the behaviors you may overuse to the point they become ineffective or cause conflict in others. Recognizing these patterns builds self-awareness and helps you adjust your approach for better collaboration. And if you're wondering how people access and use these insights, let me show you are engaging and powerful online platform. Most learners complete the SDI assessment in about twenty to thirty minutes. Then they get instant access to a self-paced debrief with videos and insights, a detailed downloadable report, and a powerful online platform full of resources. On the SDI platform team members can compare their motives, conflict sequences, and strengths. These interactive features help the team to adjust communication styles, step up to tough conversations, present ideas, and navigate conflict. This relationship intelligence is accessible on desktop and mobile. Clients can also integrate the SDI into tools they are already using every day, like Microsoft Outlook in Teams, Slack and Zoom. So insights are available in real time. If you're looking to improve relationships and team performance, the SDI offers powerful, personal insights that make a real difference. Help your team work better together with powerful insights from the SDI.
