Before you start your first edit in Premiere Pro, watch this video. These 20 beginner tips will save you hours. When you cut a clip on the timeline and a gap appears, you don't have to manually drag the clip to close it. Simply click on the gap and press delete on your keyboard. It will close automatically. You can even make all your cuts first, then go to sequence, close gap to remove all gaps at once. If you want to select all the cuts after a certain cut, you don't need to click each one manually. Just press A on your keyboard or choose the track select forward tool. Then click on the cut. Everything ahead of that point will be selected. And if you want to do the opposite, press shift + A to switch to the track select backward tool. Then click on the cut to select all the cuts behind it. Premier Pro already has preconfigured workspaces for different tasks. So, if you are cutting or trimming a video, select the editing workspace. If you want to do color correction, switch to the color workspace. And if you are editing a YouTube short or Instagram reel, choose vertical. Premiere Pro will automatically resize and adjust all the panels based on the task you are working on. Just like any other software, Premiere Pro can crash sometimes, and if you haven't saved your project, all your hard work can be lost. Before you start editing your first project, go to edit, preferences, autosave, enable automatically save projects, and set the interval to 5 minutes or whatever interval works best for you. When you are just starting out, you only need to memorize five basic keyboard shortcuts. V for the selection tool, so you can click and select things. C for the razor tool to cut your clips. Spacebar to play and pause the preview. I and O to mark your in and out points. And lastly, the most basic but essential, control or command plus Z to undo. To make precise cuts, use the slider at the bottom of the timeline to expand or contract the timeline. Use the slider on the right side of the timeline to adjust the height of your layers. This makes tag layers much easier to see and work with. To duplicate any clip or cut on the timeline, simply select it, hold down the Alt key, and drag it to another spot on the timeline. That's it. You'll get an instant duplicate. If your timeline is packed with clips or effects, and playback starts to lag, just use the I and O keys to mark your in and out points, either for the whole sequence or just a specific section. Then go to sequence, render into out. Premiere Pro will quickly render that portion and you'll be able to preview it in full quality without any lag. Always apply effects or color correction on an adjustment layer, not the clip. Just create a new adjustment layer from the project panel, drag it above your clip on the timeline, expand it as needed, and add your effects to it. This keeps everything organized and much easier to edit later. If high resolution footage slows down your PC, create proxies. Select your clips in the project panel, right click and choose create proxies. Premiere Pro will use the lighter proxy files while you edit and automatically swap them back to the original full resolution clips when you export. You can use Envato to download text animation templates. Simply drag them onto your timeline, add your text, and Premiere Pro handles the animation. It's an easy way to avoid learning motion graphics and it's a huge timesaver for beginners. The link to Invato is in the description. People often say that AI will replace editors, but the truth is editors who use AI will replace those who don't. So, as a beginner, start adding AI tools to your workflow. I recommend trying Final Cut, which automatically removes pauses, silent segments, filler words, and repeated takes. You'll find the Fire Cut link in the description, and you can use the code editing cop 10 to get 10% off. If you're using Premiere Pro to make YouTube shorts or Instagram res, you'll definitely need animated captions. Premiere Pro has a transcription tool, but animating the text manually takes a lot of time. Instead, try Captioner, a Premiere Pro plug-in that automatically transcribes, translates, and animates your captions using motion graphic templates. It turns the whole process into a simple three-step workflow. You'll find the captioner link and a detailed tutorial in the description. And you can use the code editing cop to get 20% off. While editing, if you see red peaks on the audio meter, that means your audio is too loud. Go to window audio track mixer and lower the mix volume. Premier Pro's audio demix tool lets you easily adjust your music to fit your video. If the track is too long, you can shorten it. And if it's too short, you can extend it to match the video's duration. You can save your color correction or grade as a preset. Just select the layer with the lummetry

color effect. Then go to the effects control panel, right click lummetry color, and choose save preset. You'll find your save preset in the effects panel under the presets dropdown. If your timeline gets too cluttered with multiple layers, select them. Right click and choose nest. This creates a nested sequence that groups all those layers into a single layer. You can double click the nested sequence anytime to access and edit the layers inside. Click the plus icon and drag both show ruler and show guides into the button bar. Now you can easily turn them on whenever you need, which makes aligning text and graphics much simpler. And for the last tip, check out this video where I'll show you the correct way to export your videos. You'll learn the best Premiere Pro export settings for YouTube, and you'll also get a free preset that lets you export your videos with a single click.
